I wanted to take some time for you to get to know me, the CEO and Founder of Reverence Birth. I was born and raised here in New Jersey by my wonderful Colombian parents. I was fortunate that my parents taught me Spanish and raised me with many different Colombian traditions. I also enjoy spending time with my loved ones, as well as my two beautiful cats, Cheese and Bloom. However, growing up, I was not only an only child but also battled many lifelong chronic conditions. Let’s just say, as a Latina woman, I understand how it feels when receiving care at a medical center can be daunting. This is why I embarked on the path of helping many vulnerable populations from different communities. I am well-acquainted with, and have experienced, the health disparities, inequities, and inequalities that many of you may have faced and felt. Therefore, I am using what I love to do, which is educating and supporting women and their families during pregnancy and all the way through their postpartum period. Hi there, Friend! I became a doula, because I realized my passion for prenatal care, birth, and postpartum support was not departing after my own experiences. My goal is to be able to help and support other women in my community. I desire to have them experience excitement and confidence in themselves that I hope leaves them encouraged. I have been through three pregnancies myself and have walked alongside many friends and family members journeys. I live in the tranquil countryside of Northern NJ, about 5 minutes away from the borders of Upstate NY and PA and only 90 minutes away from NYC! My husband of 10 years and myself were born and raised in Sussex County. We love where we live as it is quiet, beautiful, and allows us to continue our dreams of one day having our own homestead. We look forward to raising our three beautiful children here as well. As a collegiate business major and previous elementary/middle school educator, communication, organization, learning, and teaching are very important to me. Volunteering my time frequently allows my empathetic attributes to selflessly serve others and walk alongside my neighbors, peers, friends, and family. In my free time, I love being outside and active with people near and dear to me. I love to garden, take care of our chickens, cook, bake sour-dough, play board games, take hikes, and watch the occasional football game! Laura's passion for birth and family support began over a decade ago as a nanny of five children, before staying home with her own three boys. Currently, Laura is working with families to reduce fear and provide support during a major life event: Childbirth. As a mom herself, Laura has personally experienced a natural epidural-free delivery, a birth with epidural, and a cesarean birth. She specializes in VBAC support and emphasizes the importance of confidence and a feeling of security during the prenatal journey. Laura continues to support other moms and new families to navigate through the new experiences and challenges that pregnancy and parenthood may bring.
