JACQUELINE SANTIAGO

4 years of experience

Hi, I’m Jacqueline, but you can call me Jacqui. I’m a full-spectrum doula who believes birth is both sacred and deeply human — not something to “manage,” but something to be supported with care, humor, and grounding energy. My background as an esthetician, medical assistant, and ordained minister means I show up with a calming presence, steady hands, and the ability to connect with just about anyone. I see each family as unique, and I honor every birth plan, every emotion, and every cultural layer that shapes the journey into parenthood. I’m here to hold space, advocate when needed, and help parents feel informed, respected, and genuinely cared for. My philosophy is simple: YOU deserve a birth experience that feels safe, supported, and authentically yours. I show up as both a guide and a teammate — someone who listens first, encourages often, and helps you tap into your own strength. Whether it’s breathwork at 2 a.m., a good laugh when things get intense, or quiet reassurance in the moments that matter most, I’m committed to walking alongside your family with compassion and confidence. My goal is to help you feel prepared, empowered, and never alone during one of the most transformative moments of your life. My hobbies are reading, crafting, hosting karaoke nights at local bars, helping my partner run a part-time catering business and cuddling with our Beagle-mix Emo. I look forward to meeting you!!

Simone has been holding space for expecting and postpartum families for over 10 years. Birth has a powerful way of healing and transforming you, and her first birth did just that. The ability to have 2 empowered births the way she wanted, gave light to the need for advocacy, education and doula support amongst the birthing community, especially black families. Simone is a mother, doula, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, childbirth educator and infant sleep educator. She has been teaching and mentoring doulas along the way and excited to dive deeper into holding the hands of the next generation of birth workers.

I cannot say enough good things about Simone as our night doula and lactation consultant. From the moment she entered our home, she brought a sense of calm, compassion, and expertise that made an immediate difference in our postpartum experience. As a second-time mom navigating recovery, sleep deprivation, and feeding challenges, her presence was nothing short of a gift. She supported our entire family with such gentleness and professionalism. Her overnight care allowed us to get desperately needed rest, knowing our baby was in kind, capable hands. Her lactation guidance was equally invaluable. She offered evidence-based support with zero judgment—troubleshooting tummy issues, providing reassurance, and giving practical tools that worked. Thanks to her help, I went from overwhelmed and in pain to confident and empowered. I did not feel a bit of judgment when I chose to go from breastfeeding to formula due to my baby's tummy issues. She listened deeply, responded thoughtfully, and truly respected our parenting values. She didn’t just care for our baby—she cared for us. If you're looking for someone who is not only highly skilled but also emotionally attuned and reliable, I wholeheartedly recommend Simone. She’s an absolute gem and a vital part of our early parenting story.

Curbeth Tappin

14 years of experience

Hi my name is Curbeth Tappin founder of Embrace a New Love postpartum services. I am a postpartum doula with 13 years of experience, providing exceptional care to families during the perinatal period. My journey into this field was inspired by my upbringing in a household with a mother who was a midwife, where I witnessed the miracle of birth and recognized the need for more support for both the birthing parent and baby during the postpartum period. As a postpartum doula, I offer comprehensive support to new mothers, including lactation assistance and daily infant care such as feeding and bathing. When working overnight, I ensures the baby's sleep environment is safe and maintains a detailed journal of sleep and feeding patterns. Trained by DONA International, I am well-equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent care to both newborns and parents. My passion for postpartum care shines through in my dedication to helping families navigate this transformative time with comfort and confidence.

Curbeth Tappin helped my family. Curbeth was the postpartum doula for my sister a few years before I got pregnant with my 4th child. My sister recommended that I hire her because of how much she helped her with her daughter. Curbeth came into my home after my son’s birth and had the nursery completely organized. She assisted me to acclimate the older children with the new baby. She allowed me to rest while she took care of my son. Although I had 3 other children this time breastfeeding was a bit of a struggle. Curbeth provided lactation support as well as emotional support, which I needed to get through that difficult period. She stayed and worked with my family for 3 month. A couple months later i found out I was pregnant with my 5th and last child. Curbeth returned and provided the same amazing support she provided the first time. Having 2 child under 2 years old was a very difficult, but Curbeth made this so much easier. Her patients and loving nature made her feel like part of the family. I know that any family she works for will receive the best support ever.

Nubia Jones

14 years of experience

I’m Nubia, a mom of five teens & young adults. I’m an experienced certified birth doula CD(DONA), postpartum doula, parent educator, certified breastfeeding counselor (CLC), an integrative nutrition health coach (IIN) and a student midwife. Mothers deserve to be respected, heard and nurtured doing this major transition in life to becoming a mom, whether its for the first time or the 8th time! I’m a strong advocate for mothers and families birthing in all settings including hospital, home & birth centers. I respect the many choices in mothering and parenting. It's an honor to walk the path of mothering with women as they navigate the many options we have today. I strongly believe in the woman's ability to grow, birth and nourish her baby with her natural, innate abilities while also respecting the need or preference of medical support along the way. It's all about the balance of holistic & medical. My journey supporting women and families began in 2000. After birthing with midwives, I decided to develop a working relationship at the birth center where my children were born. At this free-standing birth center, I served on the board of directors and led support groups for the expectant families and breastfeeding moms. In 2012, my career as a doula took off as I volunteered my services for many families in my hometown, Washington, DC. In 2015, my family relocated and I began serving a diverse population throughout New York and New Jersey where I’m currently practicing, along with a team of equally skilled perinatal professionals. On my spare time I enjoy relaxing on the Jersey Shore beaches, traveling internationally, cooking, dancing, spending time in nature, and enjoying quality time with my teenage and young adult children. I spent a couple of years living abroad and off the beaten path with my children and their dad. It was the most rewarding life experience to date. I plans to serve as a birthworker internationally, as well, so that I can merge my love for international travel and serving mothers.

When I got connected with Marissa, I just knew she was the right doula for me. I know there’s no such thing as perfect, but my spirit truly aligned with hers. I trusted God and felt at peace not choosing a backup doula, even though I had interviewed three. And I have no regrets. I was induced at 37 weeks, so I wasn’t able to fully follow my birthing plan. However, we had discussed it in depth, and she knew exactly what I wanted. Marissa was firm, supportive, and confident which I deeply appreciated. She wasn’t afraid to speak up for me. She made sure to ask me if decisions being made were truly what I wanted and ensured I understood everything happening. She also made sure she had all the information just like I did. I felt completely comfortable and safe with her. I didn’t feel like I had to track or manage everything because I knew she was doing that. She made sure I had water, juice, crackers everything I needed. I’m not used to being taken care of. I’m usually the strong friend, the one who handles everything on my own. So when Marissa was putting chapstick on my lips, socks on my feet, rubbing my back, and helping me stay comfortable, it honestly shocked me in the best way. It meant more than I can explain. Yes, she’s a doula but to me, it never felt like just a job to her. It felt genuine, loving, and intentional. I will always adore and appreciate her for how she showed up for me during one of the most important moments of my life.

We had an incredible experience with our birth doula, Elizabeth, and cannot recommend her enough. She is truly down to earth, kind, caring, supportive, and knowledgeable. From the very beginning, Elizabeth made herself available by phone, and we always felt comfortable and confident reaching out with questions before labor. Once I went into labor, it was reassuring to notify her and she generously made herself available to support us. During labor, Elizabeth provided amazing emotional support and helped me through some of the rougher contractions with tools and support. She was also a strong advocate and helped guide us through decision making in the labor process. In addition to offering knowledge and guidance, having another familiar, calming face in the room made a huge difference. Elizabeth took the time to really get to know us before labor and followed up with a visit afterward, which meant so much. Having a doula like Elizabeth added an extra layer of support, advocacy, and reassurance that allowed us to feel more grounded, informed, and cared for throughout the entire experience. We truly loved having her as part of our birth and are so grateful for the role she played in it.
