My name is Ashleigh Tolliver, RN, and I bring over 12 years of experience in maternal and newborn care across hospital settings, birthing centers, and in-home support. I am passionate about walking alongside mothers and families during the 4th trimester—the deeply important postpartum period. My mission is to empower and equip mothers with the knowledge and confidence to care for their newborns, while also ensuring they receive the time, rest, and support they need to heal. Amelia is a DONA trained birth doula (2019) from Minnesota. She holds a BA in Global Studies with emphasis on South American studies and Global Public Health. Birthwork found her when she was working on a research project about women giving birth in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Following her project, she immediately got trained as a birth doula and hit the ground running. She was a volunteer doula for the first part of her doula career while simultaneously working as a health educator in non-profit clinics in both Minneapolis and Austin. Amelia eventually adhered to her calling and shifted to working in birthwork full time. For Amelia, birth is a sacred and ceremonial part of life. She is passionate about advocating for families and following their lead as they go through this transformational experience. Amelia enjoys incorporating essential oils, movement, meditation, mantra, and light touches of humor into her work. Outside of birthwork you might find Amelia teaching yoga, travelling, hanging with her cats, or hiking with her partner.

These long nights allowed her to listen to the birthing mamas, help them sort out what their goals and options were, and allowed Bridget to advocate for them to make sure they felt comfortable and had their needs met. Bridget has found that women have more positive birth outcomes when a doula is present throughout labor and delivery. These experiences made it clear to Bridget that her talents and passion lie in doula work. Before I became a doula I was a nanny for special needs children and I also had a child development associates degree and I was a preschool teacher. I love all things nature and outdoors - minus the heat and mosquitos. My family and my faith are a huge part of my life. When I’m not at a birth, at church or in the gym, you can find me dancing in the kitchen with my hubby and toddler. We’re a spontaneous and adventurous family, always trying new things and constantly making s’mores in the backyard. Life is a precious gift and I’m always finding ways to soak it all in. The deep desire to serve and love on mamas during a crucial time in their lives. That’s what brought me to doula work. The longing to help make every birth beautiful - to help every birthing person be heard and cared for. Before I was a doula, I worked briefly at the Freeman Coliseum and a bridal expo!
