Hi, I'm Jennifer! For over 25 years, I've supported families as a Childbirth Educator, Labor and Postpartum Doula, and Certified Infant/Toddler Montessori Teacher. I believe every birth experience and every fourth trimester is unique, and that it truly takes a village. My passion for supporting families with newborns took root while I was working with expectant parents through prenatal, postpartum, and infant massage. Then I became pregnant with my first child. With no extended family nearby, I quickly saw how valuable it is to have an experienced, compassionate person to guide you through this transition without judgment. As a Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula, I find joy in sharing education while nurturing the emotional and physical well-being of the whole family during this special time. My goal is to help every family come together feeling empowered and confident as they begin their journey into parenthood!

Hi, I’m Melanie Powell—certified doula, childbirth educator, author of From Fear to First Cry, and the founder of both Little Flower Birth Services and the non-profit Under His Wings Collective. As a mother myself, I know firsthand that bringing a child into the world is one of the most profound, transformative journeys you will ever take. But I also know it can bring up deep questions, past fears, and medical anxieties. That is why my life’s work is dedicated to walking beside women and their partners, ensuring you never have to navigate the medical landscape alone. Through Little Flower Birth Services, my practice is rooted in three core pillars: Advocacy to help your partner step into their role as your protector, Sanctuary to guard your peace with a protective "Baby Bubble," and Autonomy to honor your God-given intuition through a trauma-informed framework. Whether I'm teaching evidence-based physiological birth classes, coaching partners in our signature advocacy workshops, or offering quiet, steadfast support in the delivery room, my goal is to transform your anxieties into your greatest strengths. Beyond my private practice, my heart for community led me to establish Under His Wings Collective—a non-profit initiative dedicated to expanding access to sliding-scale and free childbirth education, alongside trauma-informed virtual doula support (such as our Virtual Bloom Package) for Medicaid-eligible, low-income, and high-anxiety mothers who deserve dedicated care regardless of circumstance. When I’m not supporting families across the DFW Metroplex, leading virtual education cohorts, or advocating through the collective, you can usually find me baking something nourishing for loved ones or cherishing quiet moments with my daughter. You deserve to enter your birth room feeling strong, informed, and deeply supported. I would be honored to walk this sacred journey with you.

What made us choose Melanie as our birth doula for our first birth experience was the fact that she was Catholic and she offered a lot in her birth package. She was extremely helpful all throughout my pregnancy, especially on the day of my delivery. She helped us map out a birth plan and she did a great job educating us. During my labor, Melanie coached me through exercises she prepped us with to deal with the contractions. After I got my epidural, I was still experiencing pain on my right side. Melanie spent hours lightly shaking the area to get my daughter to move. It really helped me deal with the pain. She also helped the nurse with getting my daughter to turn face down to prepare for birth. Melanie offered me the comfort and support I needed in the last hours of my labor. Because of her support, my husband was able to get some extra sleep so he could be present with me and available post-birth. I would strongly recommend Melanie as a doula.

Plain and simple: I love all things pregnancy! After working in the music industry for nearly ten years, I experienced a deep and abrupt shift in my life trajectory upon becoming pregnant. Prior to my pregnancy, I had already declared my path of Maternal & Neonatal Health in my DrPH program, but experiencing the true miracle we call life confirmed that Maternal & Neonatal Health are in fact a huge part of my purpose, even so much so that I was willing to partially cut ties with the music business to fulfill this duty. That’s why and how I’m here for you today — I truly believe I was called to do this work. I’ve always had an interest in the unknowns of pregnancy. I was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and have lived my life with a star-shaped G-tube patch and midline incision scar that represent the intersectionality of pregnancy, what can go wrong and how we can fix it. And upon marrying my husband, a heart transplant recipient, I became even more enthralled by the specialty of disease prevention in infants. Many wonder why I took the DrPH path as opposed to a traditional MD degree, and the truth is that nothing I’ve ever done in my life was conventional. It is my belief that addressing Maternal & Neonatal Health issues from the standpoint of public health practice is not only effective, but is also fulfilling. As a public health practitioner, I address the risks and patterns of pregnancy complications as a population-wide problem. I’m not a medical doctor because I am not interested in treating these conditions: I am a public health doctor because I am committed to preventing them altogether.

Choosing Kathryn for my labor and delivery was, hands down, the best decision we made to help us navigate my first pregnancy. She made us feel safe and supported throughout my journey. When a possible pregnancy complication arose, she was there to talk through it and offer calming words of encouragement. When my labor pains were unbearable, she was there with a full body massage, which lasted hours. And when we chose to have the placenta stored, she was the caretaker who made sure it was stored safely and appropriately. Kathryn supported us so much that we chose her experience and knowledge for all three of my births. She was by my side for all three labors, supporting, massaging, helping me to reposition, and providing endless counter pressure during contractions.  Kathryn cares deeply about you and your labor and delivery experience. She is a calm voice and a listening ear during a new experience. I am so grateful she was there, and I highly recommend her!

Makita is very professional caregiver for new borns and babies. She had been a great help for my family when my baby was 4 month old. She is proactive, patient and knowledgable in her field, and even identified early signs of torticollis in my baby. She was the only one that I could trust with my baby alone. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs professional and reliable care support.

Jade is absolutely amazing. She was not my Doula. She was just a friend of mine who happened to be there when I went to an emergency hysterectomy and the thought of not being able to have children really broke me and Jade was there to bring me up and support me help me through my hard times my depression helping me make sure I’m managing my medication taking it out on time as well as treating me like family. I have met Jade‘s other clients at family gatherings. Jay🦇🖤 does not carry any of her relationships as worker Cliente relationships. Once you meet her you will feel like family the way she supports you the way she loves you. She seen me post on my social media about when I was feeling down and out. She did not hesitate to just call me and be a friend and just listen. She’s definitely somebody on your corner. She will get your needs met however she can. Yaffa and I love working as a team! Here's a recent review from a birth doula client: From the first time we met Shira, we felt more at ease about our birthing time. Upon meeting Shira it is obvious how sweet, caring, and smart she is. Shira is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and birth, and she is super humble about her approach. She is here for you to answer your questions and make you feel prepared and comfortable. She doesn't push any personal agenda, she is a calm and peaceful presence who will guide you like a warm mother would, and with confidence. Shira is open minded. She was directly by my side taking my lead during my first birth, and both of our first HypnoBabies experience. She was the expert support and extra hands I needed alongside my husband. I had mostly back labor and she helped with counter pressure, positioning, and movement for 24+ hours! She said yes to all any any requests I had. When I decided to get an epidural/induction, she helped make that choice easier. She constantly shared my birth plan with the hospital staff to ensure everyone was on board with my vision so I didn't have to. It was very reassuring having her there and I truly couldn't have done it without her. The birth ended up being absolutely beautiful, magical, and a holy experience that I would be lucky and blessed to do over and over again. Thank you Shira!!
