I offer both in home and in an office setting along with virtual opportunities to work with me. The conversation may start around breastfeeding but it does not end there. Dynamic movement is foundational to breastfeeding. During our visit, I will be helping you learn how to help your baby to move, which can often leach into helping mom learn how to move as well. While many of my clients are concerned with how baby’s mouth is working, I see oral function as the tip of the iceberg. We need to work from the ground level up to get lasting results. We look into what kind of support mothers need to thrive during postpartum. A mother’s health and vibrancy is reflected back by her baby. So to help a newborn that is struggling, we need to support that newborn’s mother. We talk about nutrients mothers need to support themselves and a robust milk supply and how nurture the essential nutrient of rest during a physically and emotionally demanding season. While our goal is address any feeding concerns your family is experiencing, we work from a wide lenses to ensure we are building a lasting foundation.

Amy is a true family advocate. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in human lactation. Starting her career working with families as a doula in the Philadelphia metro area, she supported hospital births, home births, and birth center births. Her personal breastfeeding journey was very rewarding, and it quickly grew into a passion of supporting others in their own breastfeeding journey. She owned a state registered daycare in Vermont for 6 years before moving to Maryland in 2021. Amy completed her internship hours at Metropolitan Breastfeeding in the Fall of 2022. She has enjoyed serving families in the area and assisting women meet their breastfeeding goals. She has a desire to change the trajectory of breastfeeding rates locally and globally and to be part of the tribe that supports women in the childbearing years. Tamika Harris believes in every family's right to make an informed decision about their infant feeding choice. She is a board-certified Lactation Consultant and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Tamika is a human milk donor and has provided lactation support to families in home, hospital and community settings. As a WIC counselor, she focused on leading peer-to-peer lactation support groups. Tamika is also an instructor for Lactation Education Resources. She was elected to the Executive Committee of the D.C. Breastfeeding Coalition and the Board of Directors for Breastfeeding USA. Tamika has visited congress members on Capitol Hill with the United States Breastfeeding Committee to advocate for policies focused on supporting lactating families and was selected to a special advisory committee for the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

Since 2015, I have served clients as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. In 2021, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I have served over 80 clients having vaginal births after caesarean (VBAC)  planned/unplanned C-sections, vaginal medicated and unmedicated births. I assisted close to 150 families as a postpartum doula, helping them adjust to parenthood with daytime or nighttime visits. I love assisting at births but the greatest joy for me is postpartum work. Families are under prepared for the changes that come during the first 3 months after birth. Having a guide makes the 4th trimester much smoother.

She is a self proclaimed "book worm", and constantly is found reading books or listening to podcasts that challenge her to dig deeper and learn more. This has opened doors for her in the arenas of public speaking, advocacy, and business coaching. Tiara values her life experiences and uses them as reference points to better serve her clients. As a mother of five children, her "on the job" experience has allowed her to meet her clients where they are, and give them a honest and transparent perspective of what to expect.
