The cost of a midwife in Annapolis, MD can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Maryland Medicaid covers certified nurse-midwife care in Annapolis, including prenatal visits, birth attendance, and postpartum services, because CNM services are required Medicaid benefits nationwide. Coverage for licensed or certified professional midwives at home or birth-center deliveries depends on the plan and does not apply to every Maryland member. The Annapolis area has an active market, with 11 midwives listed within 60 miles. Private insurance benefits may also differ by plan.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Annapolis, MD, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Casey during a recent birth, and I was absolutely blown away by her compassion, intuition, and expertise. She knew exactly what her client needed in each moment, offering unwavering support, reassurance, and care. As a prenatal chiropractor, I was honored to assist alongside her, and it was amazing to see how seamlessly she guided the birthing process. Her ability to create a calm, empowering space for her client was truly inspiring, and I can’t wait to work together on more births in the future! If you’re looking for a doula who is deeply in tune with her clients and provides exceptional support, I highly recommend hiring Casey! She is truly a gift to the birthing community. 💕

I am a Certified Birth Photographer and Certified Full Spectrum Doula serving Denver, Colorado and surrounding areas. My love for birth started at a young age, but it wasn't until I birthed my daughter that I found my passion. I believe that everyone's pregnancy journey and birth story matters. You will carry your experience with you for the rest of your life. As your doula and birth photographer, it is my responsibility to support you, advocate for you when necessary, and document the beautiful moments of your birth. I believe that birth is natural and all about trusting yourself, your body, and the process. I also believe that it is your right to determine what the best birth is for your family. I offer support for all types of families. I am also bilingual (Spanish/English). It does not matter if you are having a home birth or a scheduled cesarean. My main goal is to ensure that you have all of the information you need in order to make an informed decision. No matter what decision you make, I will always have your back. As a parent who has just recently gone through my own pregnancy and birth journey, I understand how lonely it can feel. Know that you are never alone. I will be there to listen whenever you need to talk to someone about how you feel or you just need to release your emotions. I will believe in you even when you don't. Hi, I’m Gabrielle Taylor. I’ve been supporting mothers and newborns since February 2022, but my passion for women’s health began in my teenage years. I’m a proud mother of two—my children were born in 2017 and 2021. **I have teamed up with Danica Day to bring quality care and support to Frederick and the surrounding areas. You can read more about Danica here: https://www.dawnandduskdoulaco.com/** My first birth, a cesarean, was emotionally traumatic and left me feeling unsupported and unheard. In contrast, the birth of my second child was an empowering VBAC, made possible by the compassionate presence of an incredible doula. That experience was truly life-changing—it showed me the profound difference that informed, empathetic support can make. Now, my mission is to offer that same kind of transformative support to other families. Whether you're navigating your first birth or welcoming another child into your home, I’m here to help you feel confident, cared for, and connected. In today’s fast-paced world, motherhood can feel isolating—but I'm here to bridge that gap so you feel supported. I’m also currently pursuing my nursing degree to deepen my knowledge and enhance the care I provide as a doula. I’m honored to walk alongside you during this pivotal journey.

Gabby is amazing! Truly, she answered every question I had, supported our postpartum journey, explained everything throughly, had brilliant insight, talked through everything with me, and helped my little guy sleep in 4+ hour stretches every time! She is the baby sleep whisperer! Could not say nicer things about Gabby and her gentle care of not only my little guy, but my family as a whole. She truly made my whole postpartum journey so much easier!!

“In birth, we find the courage we never knew we had and the strength that was there all along.” – Marcie Macari Hi, my name is Bria Comer. I am a birth doula, as well as a dance teacher, licensed physical therapist assistant, and a mama to my son, daughter, and dog! I am so excited that you are considering the idea of a doula. I believe that everyone deserves the support and knowledge of a birth doula to help make childbirth the beautiful journey it should be. My background in dance and physical therapy, in combination with my doula training, gives me valuable insight into the physiology of the perinatal time frame to help you embrace the power within your body. I have seen firsthand how positioning, massage techniques, intentional movement, and breath work help birthing individuals. My goal as your doula is first and foremost to support you with your needs and desires, whatever decisions you make. I am also interested in helping you learn about normal physiology and movement practices during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum to help empower and educate you. This will help you be in tune with your body and its needs as well, so you can continue to find strength and balance beyond our time together! I also use my knowledge and experience from over 6 years of working in pediatric physical therapy to help educate and guide you on normal infant development, if you are interested. LGBT+ friendly 💜

We hired Bria for a 2 hour labor prep class in our home. It was the best thing we did! She showed up prepared with notes on specific things to work on with me just from a picture! She was hands on in showing labor positions and stretches to help me in the exact way I wanted. She made sure we knew how to do them all before moving on. She was very thorough in going through as many options and preparations as needed. My husband and I feel so much more prepared for labor and delivery after meeting with Bria. I had no idea how to set up a birth plan or what some of my options even were, and she talked through each step with me. I would 100% recommend Bria to anyone looking for labor prep or Doula services!!

Rachael Dailey

Hi, I’m Rachael! I am a mom of three not-so-little kids (ages 21, 16, and 13), and a military spouse of 17 years, so I know a little about having to build your own village. I am a certified labor doula, postpartum and bereavement doula, to be a part of that village in your life. After walking alongside three families as a gestational carrier, I found my calling in nurturing others through the many paths of parenthood. I have always been passionate about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and all things baby, so I knew I wanted to find my place in the birth world. I am certified through Birth & Baby University and currently training with StillBirthday to offer a well-rounded education along with my personal experiences with pregnancy, birth, and parenting. I offer gentle, hands-on support during birth, the postpartum period, and in times of pregnancy or infant loss. Whether you're preparing for a joyful delivery, adjusting to life with a newborn, or grieving a loss, I want to be the one to walk beside you, hold space for your experience, and offer the support you deserve. When I’m not supporting families, you’ll usually find me at home hanging out with my husband, our kids, and three dogs. In my spare time, I love being in the garden, on my yoga mat, or curled up with my knitting and a good movie.

I cannot recommend Rachel highly enough. From the very first meeting, she made me feel heard, supported, and completely confident in my birth choices. Her knowledge, calm presence, and unwavering encouragement were invaluable throughout pregnancy, labor, and delivery. During labor, she was an absolute anchor—offering comfort measures, gentle guidance, and reassurance exactly when I needed it most. She knew when to step in with suggestions and when to simply be a steady, calming presence. Because of her, I felt empowered, informed, and never alone during one of the most intense and meaningful experiences of my life. If you are looking for a doula who is compassionate, professional, and truly invested in your well-being and birth experience, I wholeheartedly recommend her. Having her by my side was one of the best decisions I made for my birth.

My professional practice is grounded in continuous learning and reflection. I regularly pursue advanced training in maternal care, trauma-informed and responsive care, reproductive justice and perinatal mental health to remain current with best practices and to strengthen the quality of support I offer. By integrating both advocacy and education, I aim to break cycles of intergenerational trauma and promote emotional resilience for every family I serve.

I met Kristan by chance at a prenatal appointment to see my ob and she was the most caring, knowledgeable person that I had ever met. She attended my birth, although the office visit was our only in-person encounter. She understood what I needed, prayed for me and my baby and stayed with us because we had no one else. My baby turned one and she still shows up as sweet and loving as the day we met. She is the best thing that my baby and I needed.

As a young child, I found my way to birth before I had language for it. At five years old, I was guiding my dolls through labor, sitting with them, speaking softly, staying close. I didn’t understand what I was doing then, but something in me already knew. There was a quiet pull toward women in this moment of becoming. As I grew older, that pull deepened. I became fascinated by the power held in pregnancy, birth, and the early days after. The way a body carries, protects, and nourishes life. The way a baby makes their way into the world. The way a mother changes forever once they meet. It felt sacred, ancient, and deeply familiar. I often imagined myself surrounded by ancestors and loved ones, witnessing prayers and dreams taking form as new life arrived. What followed birth felt just as powerful to me. Watching a mother soften and strengthen at the same time. Watching intuition awaken. Watching love root itself in ways that cannot be taught. Mothers and babies choosing one another. A love story that begins again and again. For years, I was visited by dreams. Women from all walks of life birthing their babies. In each dream, I was there. Holding hands. Offering comfort. Showing up in a way understood only by women and the spirits who have always walked with us. The dreams didn’t stop until I finally listened. I became a certified birth and postpartum doula and stood alongside more than two hundred families. I have been a sister, an aunt, a steady presence in moments of fear, release, and joy. I’ve wiped tears, celebrated feeding breakthroughs, and watched parents grow into themselves. To be clear, I don't possess any special power; I merely hold the flashlight as parents navigate and uncover their own. Beyond my work, I am a mother to three humans who shape me every day. My oldest is deeply nurturing, a true revolutionary who speaks with power and purpose. My son teaches me how to slow down and feel, how to think bigger, how to trust what feels impossible. And my youngest, known by her Ghanaian uncle as “The Queen Mother,” leads with her whole spirit. She chases the wind, climbs trees, jumps in puddles, tends the garden, and mothers our chickens and ducks with ease. Favorite things: The roar of the ocean Barred owls calling at night A truly binge-worthy show Deep, uncontrollable laughter Friends who don’t take life too seriously

Thank you so much for stopping by! My journey to birth work began in 2017, following the birth of my first baby. I have been a fully certified childbirth educator and doula since 2018. Additionally, I recently obtained my Certified Breastfeeding Specialist certificate (CBS) from Lactation Education Resources in October 2025. Prior to getting into birth work, I attended Notre Dame of Maryland University, where I studied biology and graduated with high honors. I have since become a mother of 2. Both of my children were born without intervention and at home. When not working, I can be found reading for pleasure, exercising, doing yoga, hiking, or gardening. I reside in Bowie, MD and serve clients within a 50-mile radius of my home.

My husband and I took Kristen’s class to support my dreams of an unmedicated birth. We learned so much about birthing naturally, avoiding interventions, and working through labor together. In the end I got my dream birth! We delivered in the hospital and confidently denied (and worked with) the medical staff to support our preferences through quoted studies, avoided all interventions (despite having my water break 2 weeks early before labor began), and gave birth completely naturally with no NICU time. They even released us after 24 hours! It was perfect and Kristen’s class played a huge part in it along with her recommended reading list. 10/10 recommend taking this class if you are planning an all natural birth! SO worth it!
