I know what it feels like to need help in the middle of the night and have no one to call. I’m a Colorado native who spent my twenties and early thirties on the East Coast — far from family, far from my roots, and eventually, far from sleep. I had three sons without a village nearby. My husband, bless him, could sleep through a train crash (and a newborn baby crying!). Paternity leave was laughably short. Breastfeeding was hard. The nights were long. And I did it alone, in the dark, wishing desperately that someone would just come and take the baby for a few hours so I could be a person again. That experience is why I do this work. I returned to Colorado 12 years ago and eventually found my way to postpartum doula work — because I lived the need for this role. When I support a new mom through the night, I’m not reading from a textbook. I’m drawing on years of feeding babies at 2am, soothing a baby who won’t settle, and knowing exactly what a mother needs to hear (and what she doesn’t) when she’s running on empty. Angela is a postpartum doula, perinatal and kids yoga instructor. Angela has always been interested in women’s wellness and support and became very interested in postpartum doula work after giving birth to both of her children 2000 miles away from her extended family. Her goal is to help mothers find their confidence and create systems to help them continue to build trust in themselves as mothers. Originally from Canada, Angela moved to Colorado in 2017. Hello! I stumbled headfirst into the birth world through a non birth related podcast. After hearing the host’s birth story I was awestruck. I needed to know more. The more I learned, the more I felt called to this work. I firmly believe that everyone has the right to reproductive justice, to birth the way they want to, and to be able to define their birth experience their way. Choosing your birth team is one of the most important choices you can make during your pregnancy. I completed my formal birth doula training with Childbirth International in 2024 but have been practicing since early 2023. What sets me apart is my background as an engineer. This background when combined with my birth doula training gives me the unique ability to take in information (the cues you are giving, your words and actions, your progression, your outlook on the situation, and the care providers words and actions) and move forward with a plan for the next few moments, and then reassess and move forward once again.

Now on to why you’re here! After the birth of our first child, I realized there were some big gaps in the childbirth classes that we took. Before we became pregnant again, I was researching what we had missed and awoke a passion for childbirth and maternal care that has only deepened over the years. After our three kids were born, I became a Childbirth Educator in 2017 and a Birth Doula in 2018. I also delivered two babies as a gestational surrogate in 2019 and 2021. I love supporting families of all kinds, including (but not limited to) biological families, adoptive parents, LGBTQ+ parents, single parents, and surrogates and IPs.
