Barb’s a Lamaze-Certified Childbirth Educator, a Fellow in the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators, a Certified Becoming Us Facilitator, and Mentor for Becoming Us Facilitators. She’s also a professed “brain nerd” and holds a Masters Level Certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology. And she's added the certification as a Resonant Healing Practitioner to her CV helping families integrate their birth experience - especially if their was any resulting trauma. Barb’s fascinated with the science behind the “Couples Connection” classes she created to help strengthen the connection between the birthing person and their partner, so that no matter how birth unfolds, their baby can be born into that strong and loving connection. I was a nanny for the same family for five years, watching their family grow from the first child at 18 months to their third at 8 months. I've also worked at an award-winning private Montessori school and spent three years as a special needs caregiver. I'm currently finishing my certification with Birth Arts International, pending my 5th birth. I am trained with CAPPA as a postpartum doula as well. I am trained in Reiki and reflexology and while I was in massage school I took classes in pregnancy massage and labor massage. As a birth worker my passion is to help in the bonding of the family no matter what your family looks like if it is just mother and baby, partner, spouse, or even a family member I am there to help you find your voice and ease your journey as it plays out. Sometimes we want to think we can control what our birth will look like but the little bundle inside doesn't always listen and so I want to be there to help everyone involved reach the goal. My main passion is in continuous care. I left the nursing world after seeing the effects it had on laboring women and families having to build that rapport with the care team each appointment, shift changes and I did not like that. I want to be there with your family from start to finish, one less thing to worry about and one more thing to gain comfort in.
