Hello! I am a birth and postpartum doula in Eugene, Oregon. I began my work as a doula in 2017, certifying with Doula Trainings International after years of working as a prenatal yoga teacher. I believed new parents were simply supposed to figure it out on their own, and if they struggled, it meant they were failing. I now know how UNTRUE and harmful that belief can be. Before becoming a postpartum doula, I spent more than 20 years working as a nanny and childcare provider and earned an associate degree in pre-education. Four years ago, a friend introduced me to postpartum doula work, a role I had never heard of, but instantly knew was meant for me. Within weeks, I began my training, and I’ve never looked back. I wake up every day feeling grateful to do work that is meaningful, supportive, and deeply aligned with who I am. Hello, my name is Alyx Cucci and I am a certified birthworker living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I have personally experienced a hospital birth, a birth center birth as well as a home birth and although they were all exceptionally different I loved each of them equally. As a birthworker I am a firm believer in the magic that is created by a birthing person and their partner during the entirety of the birth process. I am always grateful to be chosen as a witness to these extraordinary experiences and my ultimate hope is that I am more of a witness than anything else. I work hard to educate and empower a couple before the arrival of their baby so when the time comes, they are able to confidently and comfortably take control of their birth with me their merely as an extra set of hands when needed or sometimes to simply hold space.
