Because I had my own experience with birth doulas, OBs and midwives, I knew this didn't have to be the norm for every woman. So last year, I launched Charise Blodgett Doula Care. Hi! I live in Springfield Oregon and I’m a mom of 4 and grandma of 2. I completed my doula and postpartum training in April 2024 through SMC Doulas in Portland and it was a wonderful experience! I was a 20 year old single mom when I had my oldest daughter and I birthed alone, just myself, the nurse and my dr and it was an experience that I never wanted to repeat or have anyone I knew have. I will support you, advocate with you for your needs and desires and be there as little or as much as you need. I will also be there for you postpartum holding your baby so you can shower, washing laundry, doing dishes, making meals, you tell me what you need and I can accommodate you. I can meet with you virtually over zoom or in person. My goal is to keep my doula business small and basically be on call when you need me taking only a couple clients at a time. If you wake up at 3am and need to talk I can accommodate that. Being pregnant, giving birth, having a newborn and being a brand new parent all can be anxiety producing and at the same the happiest times of your life! I understand that completely!!

I attended my first birth more than 25 years ago and very soon after began actively pursuing birthwork, trading off between midwifery apprenticeships and serving independently as a doula. Hello, my name is Alyx Cucci and I am a certified birthworker living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I have personally experienced a hospital birth, a birth center birth as well as a home birth and although they were all exceptionally different I loved each of them equally. As a birthworker I am a firm believer in the magic that is created by a birthing person and their partner during the entirety of the birth process. Supporting birthing people is more than a career for me—it’s a calling shaped by my own experiences, my heart for caregiving, and my deep belief that no one should ever feel alone during birth. My journey into birth work began after having two difficult birth experiences of my own. I didn’t have the support I needed, and I carried that feeling of being unheard and overwhelmed for a long time. Later, I spent years caring for my grandmother, and although I loved being there for her, after she passed I knew I wanted to help people in a different way. When I discovered what doulas do, something clicked. I realized I wanted to be the person I never had—someone who advocates, comforts, and helps birthing people relax into their own strength. I completed my Birth Doula and Postpartum care Training with Doula Love LLC in Portland, OR continued my education with additional training in trauma-informed care, oral health, cultural competency, CPR for adults/children/infants (for nurses), and basic lactation support. My approach is grounded in compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to help families feel safe, informed, and supported. I’m a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly. I have ADHD, so every now and then I get a burst of energy—usually in a fun, optimistic way. I’m also disabled and live with POTS, but it doesn’t stop me from showing up fully for the families I support. I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula serving the Corvallis area. I also have my Traditional Healthcare Worker certification and am a member of the Community Doula Program and will be able to bill Medicaid by the end of March. I am nonbinary and welcome trans and gender non-conforming clients and families. I have two young children and have lived experience with prematurity, NICU stays, and pregnancy loss. I have experienced several different birthing situations. Additionally I have personal experience and experience working as a doula for several infants who struggle to feed and gain weight. ​ I grew up in Corvallis and feel deeply connected to the community here. I worked in early childhood education for several years after graduating from UO while also moving around the country, enjoying spending time in both San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX.
