I started attending births when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. I worked for several years in corporate America, had 4 kids of my own, and was living the mom life. Just a couple years ago, I decided to take the plunge and become a doula. I have always been someone people came to for birth advice or coaching, or if they just needed a little encouragement, so decided to finally follow my passion. I have had 4 kids, all born at home. My first was an at home breech birth. My two middle children were water births, and my last one was 9lbs 14oz. Each was unique and beautiful. I have a lifelong passion for assisting others, which began when I attended college to study Human Services. This path led me to roles such as Social Worker, Family Support Specialist, and Home-based Case Manager, among others. And also infant mortality in Indiana extends far beyond the delivery room—it measures every baby who doesn't make it to their first birthday. Each year, about 500 Hoosier families experience this devastating loss, representing a rate of 1 out of roughly every 160 babies (6.3 per 1,000 live births).Blessings From Above is determined to help decrease these rates within its communities by providing exceptional support to all during their pregnancy, labor/birth and postpartum periods. My passion of becoming a Doula started back in December of 2018 when I was a participant in Indiana’s Nurse-Family Partnership program. This program is for economically disadvantaged women who are pregnant with their first child. The program is designed to help support first-time mothers less than 28 weeks with support, advice and information. Each participant is assigned to a personal nurse which meets twice a month up until their baby turns two years of age . After completion of the program I was motivated to help support other birthing persons the way I was supported in my community. So, I began to do research about the profession of a Doula and the role they play in lives of people who are trying to conceive, pregnancy, in labor, delivery, postpartum and infant feeding and I knew in that very moment this was my calling. I knew I wanted to be apart of supporting a community of birthing persons along their journey of giving birth to a healthy baby.

My path to becoming a doula started five years ago during my own pregnancy. The experience of watching my baby girl’s weekly development sparked a passion that only grew stronger over time. Once I settled into motherhood, I fully committed to doula training, earning certifications as a Postpartum Doula, Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Perinatal Nutrition Educator. I’ve also specialized in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Birth Workers, which allows me to offer comprehensive support tailored to each family’s unique needs.
