have been a doula since 2007 and have had the opportunity to attend a variety of births including medicated, non-medicated, multiples, VBAC’s and home-births. I use many tools to help a woman cope in labor including massage, pressure points, movement, aromatherapy and I am trained in using a TENS unit and have units that I let my clients use for their labor. I love teaching some of the tricks I have learned over the years to the dad and helping him feel a part of the birth. My goal is for the mom and dad to feel like “WE did it” as they hold their sweet baby. I feel passionate about a woman’s power and ability to have the kind of birth experience she longs for. Birth is a beautiful, powerful and natural event. I believe that during labor, a mom needs to surround herself with people that believe in her ability and trust her body and I am always honored when chosen to be a part of that team. I also have a special place in my heart for helping families incorporate their Christian faith in their pregnancy and birth. A woman remembers her birth forever…she may not remember the specific details, but she will remember how she felt. She will remember if she was loved and supported, or if she felt fearful and intimidated. I have no magic powers, but I hope my presence helps those memories be as positive as they can be.

My path to becoming a doula didn’t start with a dream. I found this work through my own experiences of birth, trauma, and healing. Meadow was born six weeks early and spent time in the NICU. Our journey included feeding challenges, a g-tube, postpartum depression, and a long road to bonding. It wasn’t easy, but it cracked me open. It made me realize how much support matters. Not just medically, but emotionally, spiritually, and human to human. Hello! I stumbled headfirst into the birth world through a non birth related podcast. After hearing the host’s birth story I was awestruck. I needed to know more. The more I learned, the more I felt called to this work. I firmly believe that everyone has the right to reproductive justice, to birth the way they want to, and to be able to define their birth experience their way. Choosing your birth team is one of the most important choices you can make during your pregnancy. I completed my formal birth doula training with Childbirth International in 2024 but have been practicing since early 2023. What sets me apart is my background as an engineer. This background when combined with my birth doula training gives me the unique ability to take in information (the cues you are giving, your words and actions, your progression, your outlook on the situation, and the care providers words and actions) and move forward with a plan for the next few moments, and then reassess and move forward once again.
