Hello Families My name is Dereka Carter, and I am a Maternal Healthcare Practitioner, Newborn Care Specialist, Postpartum Doula, Parent Coach, Night Nanny, and Lactation Support Provider, as well as the owner of Carter Comprehensive Birth. It is truly an honor to walk alongside families during such a tender and transformative season. In addition to leading Carter Comprehensive Birth, I specialize in providing concierge-level maternal and newborn care for families who desire discreet, personalized, and highly attentive support — including high-profile and traveling families who value continuity of care wherever life takes them. My approach is seamless, adaptable, and deeply attuned to each family’s unique lifestyle and needs. My practice is rooted in respectful care, attachment theory, and evidence-based newborn and postpartum support, with a strong emphasis on infant development and parental mental health. I believe care should feel nurturing, calm, and empowering — never rushed or prescriptive. I support families through newborn care, sleep shaping, feeding support, recovery, education, and the emotional transition into parenthood with warmth and intention. Families often describe me as empathetic, intuitive, flexible, and reassuring. I meet you exactly where you are, honoring your goals and values without judgment, while gently guiding you with professional insight and practical tools to help your family thrive in your new normal. Whether you are welcoming your first baby or expanding your family, my goal is to provide a supportive presence that allows you to feel confident, cared for, and deeply supported every step of the way. I look forward to caring for you and your little one 🤍

LaDereka was and has continued to be our emotional and healthcare question support through pregnancy as a teacher (daddy boot camp), doula and newborn care specialist. She was key to helping us understand our options and what to expect when my pregnancy went from normal and healthy to a diagnosis of gestational hypertension with bed rest at 34 weeks. LaDereka helped us rewrite our birth preferences to accommodate an induction at 37 weeks and led us through the different interventions and natural options we could try before agreeing to an intervention. LaDereka remained by our side through out the labor process as a trusted guide and second opinion with which to weigh the nurse and doctor’s suggestions and feedback. It was great to be able to ask questions and understand the process even when our nurse was attending to other patients. Although we ended up delivering our happy and healthy baby girl via caesarean, I know we tried everything we could have for a natural birth. As our newborn care specialist LaDereka was there on night 1 to ease our transition from hospital to home. Dad is getting to sleep through the night and takes over when her shift ends in the morning and mom is enjoying 8+ hours of sleep each night (with pumping mixed in!). Not only has LaDereka’s care of our newborn allowed us to prioritize sleep and my recovery, she’s a wonderful resource for lactation and all things baby care.

VANESSA CORY, CD(DONA), (CD)SBD About Vanessa: I am a certified birth doula under DONA and a certified birth and bereavement doula under Stillbirthday Academy®. I’m married to my husband Quinn, and we have four children, Liam, Ainsley, Owen and Harlow. Vanessa was our doula for all 5 of our children. My husband wasn’t convinced we needed a doula, but after our first was born, he said, “We could not have done that without her!” So she was considered a necessity for the subsequent births. Before birth day, she met with us to discuss our birth plan and goals and how she could help us with that. She taught us what to do for pain management. She involved my husband as much as he wanted/could handle, but she did a significant amount of the pain relief techniques for me. She made sure I was drinking water and always had my cup filled up. She fed me. She reminded me to breathe correctly. She reminded me to “push from your bottom”. She held my hand. She put a cold cloth on my forehead. She knew what I needed when I didn’t. Her presence is calm and kind. For my last birth, my only home birth, she asked in our initial meeting if I had considered catching the baby myself. I told her no, but we decided to discuss what that would look like anyway. The midwife missed that birth. Vanessa made it just in time. I didn’t even know I was pushing, but she knew! She said to my husband,“She’s pushing - we need to get her undressed and in the tub.” She helped me undress and get in the birthing tub and - who knew - I caught my own baby and she was right there with me guiding the process by telling me exactly what to do like we had practiced weeks before. She helped to handle discussing the birth and updates to my midwife on the phone, communicating to us what the midwife needed us to know. She was definitely a source of comfort for all my births, but especially that one! She also does a postpartum visit to check on us and comes full of ideas, contacts, and resources for any postpartum help we need. I cannot recommend her enough. She is such a blessing to our family.

I am a certified birth and pregnancy after infertility doula. I’m passionate about supporting all women during pregnancy and labor, including women who conceive after walking a long road of fertility struggle, as I, myself, have endured my own fertility journey of trying to conceive during an infertility diagnosis before conceiving my two IVF miracles!

Tiffany is an amazing doula! Having a doula who is so passionate & encouraging really helped me during such a monumental experience in my life. I was in labor for 41 hours and she was there the entire time, alert & encouraging! She ensured I was as prepared as possible and planned for any unexpected changes. She is God fearing and prayed with my partner & I as we had to make some hard decisions during labor. Not only was she there during my pregnancy but has been a continuous support postpartum! I highly recommend her to anyone in the DFW area!

Delilah Ray

I have been a doula and childbirth educator since 2004, and have attended over 600 births to date. I love to help my clients feel informed and encouraged on their journey to parenthood. I attend births in the hospital, birth centers, and at home. Many of my clients want assistance and support for an unmedicated, low-intervention birth, while others want physical, emotional and/or informational support for their birth with "all the bells and whistles." I would love to visit with you about your hopes and plans around the special day when you meet your baby.

Delilah has been our AMAZING doula for 3 births now, I feel so incredibly blessed to have found her back in 2014 when I was pregnant with my first child. From our very first conversation I felt supported and more confident in my abilities to achieve my birth goals. Throughout that first pregnancy Delilah was so helpful as I prepared for labor. We also took her childbirth class, which was great. The day of my birth she was spectacular, providing physical support, information, and overall just a wonderful addition to our birth space. Of course we went on to hire her for our 2nd and 3rd births and the support we received was always exceptional. From helping with provider recommendations while trying to conceive, to emotional support during pregnancy to in person support at the births, I couldn't have asked for a better doula.
