Hello! My name is Olivia, and I am an experienced childcare professional with over five years of caregiving experience for children of all ages, including more than three years working professionally as a nanny in NYC/NJ. My recent work has focused primarily on infants, supporting families through feeding, sleep challenges, developmental milestones, and the day to day transitions that come with a growing baby. I am currently completing my training as a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) and Postpartum Doula (PPD), and I am passionate about supporting families during the early weeks and months of parenthood. I believe every family deserves compassionate, reliable support during this significant life transition. Welcoming a new baby can be joyful, exciting, overwhelming, and exhausting all at once, and my goal is to help parents feel informed, confident, and cared for as they navigate this new chapter. My caregiving philosophy is heavily rooted in kindness, respect, and collaboration. I strive to meet families where they are, support their individual parenting goals, and create a calm, nurturing environment where both parents and babies can thrive. In addition to my nanny experience, I have worked as an assistant teacher in a Level 3 ASD elementary SpEd classroom, and am certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid. I look forward to supporting families with warmth, professionalism, and evidence-based care during some of life’s most precious moments. I am happy to provide references of former families with infants I have worked with.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Wis!!! Though she wasn’t physically in my delivery room, she played a big part in my birth. She provided so much information that was not only interesting but very useful. She helped me a lot when it came to advocating for myself as a high risk mom. I had a few situations where I felt uncomfortable about the circumstances around how my child was born but Wis prayed with me and provided valuable resources so that I could make informed decisions about my care. Choosing Wis to be your doula would never be a mistake. The love, the care, and dedication she puts into this is beyond a job. I’ve gotten to know and seen her on a personal level and the fact that she’s back in school so she can continue to learn how to support women and families through such a precious time attest to her passion and professionalism around birth work.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Cheryl and the support she provided throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. From the beginning, Cheryl and I connected so well, and I immediately felt comfortable with her. As a first-time mom, that was so important to me. I was in a new city, delivering at a new hospital, and trusting a care team I had never worked with before, so having someone in my corner who I genuinely trusted made such a difference. One of the things I appreciated most was how much Cheryl prepared both my husband and I before I went into labor. She helped us create our birth plan, taught us different exercises, positions, and circuits I could use to prepare for labor and during labor, and most importantly, taught us how to advocate for ourselves and communicate what I wanted during my birth experience. That preparation gave us so much more confidence going into the hospital. Her support continued immediately after I gave birth. Cheryl helped me navigate those first moments of postpartum, including helping my baby latch for breastfeeding, which meant so much to me as a first-time mom. She made sure I felt supported, comfortable, and cared for during such a new and vulnerable moment. What makes Cheryl even more amazing is that her care didn’t stop after I gave birth. Five months postpartum, she STILL checks in, not only to see how I’m doing and adjusting to motherhood, but also to ask about my baby and my husband. She remembers our names, asks about each of us, and genuinely cares about how we’re doing as a family. She has also made it a priority to hear and understand my experience as a first-time Black mother, which has been incredibly meaningful to me. Her support has never felt like simply providing a service and moving on once the baby was born. The connection we built is genuine, and it’s clear that Cheryl truly cares about the mother, the baby, and the family as a whole. I’m so grateful that Cheryl was part of such an important chapter in our lives. She made me feel heard, prepared, cared for, and supported during one of the biggest transitions of my life. If you’re looking for a doula who is knowledgeable and compassionate but also someone who will genuinely get to know you and care about your family beyond your delivery day, I HIGHLY recommend Cheryl. ❤️

If you wish to contact me and schedule an appointment, please visit my website https://thelaborlounge.org/contact/ Ines Serna is a mother, childbirth educator, and doula with a Master of Health Sciences in Public Health. She became interested in pregnancy and the birth process after having her first child in 2010. Shortly after, Ines started working for the childbirth education department at a prestigious Bergen County hospital, where she gained a great deal of knowledge about maternity services. After the birth of her second child in 2014, she decided to become a childbirth educator. Through her two birth experiences, she realized that the power of knowledge can have a positive impact on birth outcomes. While working as a childbirth educator at the hospital, Ines saw the necessity of giving additional support to her clients. She has trained with DONA International to obtain all the required skills to assist mothers during the birth process. Ines is dedicated to expanding her knowledge by attending maternal and child health conferences, seminars, and networking with health professionals in the community. Ines’s extensive hospital experience has allowed her to see and understand the need to continue advocating for patient-centered care. She believes a patient’s personal preferences, such as values, cultural traditions, family support, and lifestyles, must be taken into consideration. Ines is passionate about supporting expectant parents by making sure they understand that they have options before, during, and after birth. She firmly believes that EVERY woman deserves a good support network. A network that consists of health professionals, along with family, friends, and, of course, the support of a doula, is the greatest gift parents can experience in their lifetime. I carry the blessing of Abba’s peace, love, and encouragement into every home I enter.

Recent review

I had the absolute best experience with Shellecia as my doula during my pregnancy with my daughter. From the very beginning, she made me feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. She came to my home and gave me so many tools to help me labor more comfortably, things I had never even heard of before. She took her time educating me, reassuring me, and easing every fear I had. One of the most helpful things she taught me and my partner were different positions and techniques we could use together to manage the intensity of contractions. They made such a difference when it was time to give birth. In the delivery room, Shellecia was truly my advocate. She asked important questions I didn’t even realize needed to be asked and was pretty much my voice entire process. Having her there felt like having a professional and a friend all in one. I’m so grateful for her guidance, knowledge, and calming presence. I highly recommend Shellecia to anyone looking for a doula she is truly amazing at what she does.
