Since 2015, I have served clients as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. In 2021, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I have served over 80 clients having vaginal births after caesarean (VBAC)  planned/unplanned C-sections, vaginal medicated and unmedicated births. I assisted close to 150 families as a postpartum doula, helping them adjust to parenthood with daytime or nighttime visits. I love assisting at births but the greatest joy for me is postpartum work. Families are under prepared for the changes that come during the first 3 months after birth. Having a guide makes the 4th trimester much smoother.

I support families from pregnancy through early childhood, with particular expertise in the newborn period and first year of development. My background includes professional experience as an infant educator, early childhood education leader, newborn care specialist, postpartum doula, birth doula, breastfeeding educator, and postpartum peer support specialist. I have supported families navigating feeding concerns, pumping and bottle-feeding routines, newborn sleep, reflux and gastrointestinal sensitivities, premature birth, NICU transitions, multiples, developmental milestones, and the adjustment to life with a new baby. I am a postpartum doula certified through DONA International, a lactation consultant trained through The Healthy Children Project, and a Ayurvedic masseur certified through The California College or Ayurveda. I’m a personal chef that specializes in postpartum nutrition and have a catalogue of frozen stews, broths and soups to choose from if you need inspiration for your meal planning. I meet prenatally to help organize the home, nursery and any other members of the support team. (Outlining responsibilities and expectations is work that is best done in advance.) I provide a newborn care class and a lactation class as well as meal prep for soups, stews and broths to be frozen. I always encourage my clients to try to book me for a visit right after the birth while in the hospital for lactation support and a modified version of my Ayurvedic massage. Once the family is home I cook nourishing foods rich in iron, protein, collagen, micro and macro nutrients to aid in recovery from depletion and help speed healing. (I also have a Postpartum Soup Bundle that can be purchased ahead of time.) I do dishes, laundry and of course provide even more lactation support. I can also simply care for the newborn while parents sleep. After the first few weeks the focus tends to shift into finding a daily rhythm, newborn care techniques and education on developmentally appropriate sleep habits for the baby. I also help parents with planning childcare help. I can be a sleep consultant one day and provide a massage the next. Maybe I play with the older children while mama naps with the newborn. Sometimes the work is just to sit and talk about all the things that the parents are struggling with. My job and my life’s joy is to simply be an extra set of hands or a sympathetic ear to new parents.

I can't remember a time when I was not passionate about family issues, and particularly family health. I had my first child at a young age, and found the perinatal landscape entirely bewildering. Mostly alone, I had no idea what was happening to me and my baby, or how to provide for him once he was born (and later, when he was quite sick). The experience strengthened my desire to support others who find themselves similarly lost at the hands of an impersonal medical institution. ​ ​​ I am committed to helping families access evidence-based information for informed decision-making, and to helping improve the birth experience for all families. I serve families of all types, and I specialize in trauma-informed care, bereavement support, disability advocacy, and neurodivergence, Additionally, I am conversant in Spanish, French, and American Sign Language (ASL). The journey into familyhood should be a time of joy, love, and familial and community support. I founded Family Ways with the intention to help bring such an experience to any individual and family who wants and needs it, and to strengthen the family bond—no matter what shape the family takes. Additionally, I recently obtained my Certified Breastfeeding Specialist certificate (CBS) from Lactation Education Resources in October 2025. Prior to getting into birth work, I attended Notre Dame of Maryland University, where I studied biology and graduated with high honors. I have since become a mother of 2. Both of my children were born without intervention and at home. When not working, I can be found reading for pleasure, exercising, doing yoga, hiking, or gardening.
