Katie Mayeux

Katie Mayeux is a skilled midwifery apprentice, birth and postpartum doula, folk herbalist, and internationally recognized yoga teacher with nearly two decades of experience in women’s wellness work. She began her midwifery studies in a small village in Guatemala, apprenticing with a traditional midwife and Mayan Ajq’ij (spiritual elder). It was here that she began to see birth as a rite of passage, a spiritual initiation and a healing pathway for a lineage to purify and rewrite the script. She subsequently graduated from the School of the Sacred Wild’s yearlong herbalism apprenticeship and has more recently gained clinical midwifery experience as an advanced student through the Maternidad La Luz Midwifery Immersion Program, during which she worked at a high-volume birth center on the US/Mexico border. Katie spent fifteen years as a yoga teacher, which gave her deep insight into the body, breath, and the power of movement. She now uses that training to support pregnant families, helping them find comfort, strength, and alignment throughout the childbearing year. She teaches a prenatal yoga class in El Paso and is currently completing her certification as a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner. She has attended over 100 births and currently resides in WNC.

To Say Katie was a huge asset to our birth is an understatement. Katie impressed the entire birth team with over 50 years of experience. Katie is more giving and generous than anyone I have ever met. She takes time to prepare herself and make space for others, instead of jumping in with emotions. She is a safe haven on this journey. She helped me physically more than anyone at my birth. She was there during each and every contraction helping me and compressing my hips. When it was time for the birth she was brilliant enough to catch it on film! She has an intuitive nature around everything in life, and that serves in birth. My husband and I are forever grateful.

Karen is absolutely amazing - very knowledgeable, and so kind and compassionate. I highly recommend her! She gave me trust: trust in myself and also trust in her - I knew I was in good hands - which are both so important in the process of giving life. Her support was excellent, from start to finish, and also on all levels, whether physical, mental or emotional. She made sure I was at my best for the birth, as we were able to detect and fix imbalances during the pregnancy. I really appreciated how she blends modern medicine with alternative and natural remedies, and also all the recommendations of books and resources she provided to educate myself. All the postpartum support was perfect too, she actively followed up on my baby's and my own health and well-being. I feel like my words are not enough to describe how grateful I am that she was my midwife. Thank you for everything, Karen!

Jenn supported us with the birth of our first child. From the first time we met with her, Jenn exuded confidence and was very knowledgeable, which put us at ease. As first time parents, we didn't know what the process would be like and appreciated all of her tips and best practices that she shared with us. We felt informed and equipped to make the best decisions for our family. She helped us craft a birth plan, shared relevant resources with us and communicated with us often in the weeks leading up to the birth. Jenn is very responsive, punctual and professional while being down to earth and approachable. Not only did she care for me as the birth mother, but she also ensured that my husband was supported throughout the process as well—which was very appreciated by us. Jenn went above and beyond, staying with us for awhile after our daughter was born to make sure that we were well settled in our hospital room. We love that Jenn took photos and videos of precious moments that we will cherish forever. Jenn is thoughtful and caring and shared snacks and personal stories with us for our postpartum visit. We highly recommend Jenn and would hire her again in a heart beat if the opportunity arises!

Olivia Gooden

I want to introduce myself. My name is Olivia Gooden, CD(DONA)and I am the owner of Another Mother's Touch Doula Services. I became a mother 33 years ago with my first child. I remember being in that delivery room alone. Even though my mom and baby dad was on the outside in the waiting room. I was alone. I felt alone. Things happened so fast. Some of those things are still a blurry to this day. About 27 years ago, I witnessed my first child being born outside of my own two and it was amazing and since then I've witnessed or supported about 12 others and this was before I got my official doula training. It came so natural to coach, encourage, inspire these mothers through and after seeing those miracles being born over and over that I wanted to do this. Back then, at first, there wasn't a name for what I found myself loving to do. Then eventually I heard them calling it a birth coach but there wasn't anyone close by to train and certify me, which I found out as time went on that I didn't have to be certify just to support another mother. If we go back in history there were midwives and other women and mothers supporting the laboring mother but somewhere along time, we got a way from that but I wanted to be that support. As time went on I began to hear the word, Doula. Doula is a geek word that mean " woman's servant." It is also define as a trained companion who is not a healthcare professional and who supports another person through a significant health-related experience, such as childbirth, miscarriage, induced abortion or stillbirth, or non-reproductive experiences such as dying. (I don't support abortion). Types: There are a few types of doulas: birth doulas, postpartum doulas, and antepartum doulas. A birth doula provides assistance to another woman before and during labor and childbirth; a postpartum doula provides assistance to new parents after their baby is born (though some doulas offer both services). Once again there was no one close around me that had ever heard the word, doula. It began as a desire in my heart over 25 years ago. June 2020, during the pandemic I had the opportunity to go through doula training. Even though I don't have to get certified and dont have to have the training, I wanted the benefits that would come along with having both. Not only would I be a blessing to mothers and fathers but I could benefit from what the industry will be in the future. As a mother, it feels good knowing that you have the support of another mother and/or woman by your side along with any other supporting person while you are bringing a precious gift in the world while you are at your vulnerable state. November 14, 2022 i became a certified Birth Dona (CD) through DONA International. Another Mother's Touch is here to support you.One mother supporting another mother. Trained and Certified. Jessica Medina

As a mother of three, I've walked the journey of birth and parenthood with both uncertainty and empowerment. My own experiences have taught me the profound impact that supportive care and holistic approach can have on a woman's transition into motherhood. At 20, I became a mom to my daughter Ava, navigating a medicated 12-hour labor and the challenges that followed. Despite the difficulties, I was determined to grow and learn. With my second child, Maxim, I discovered the strength of my body and the power of natural birth. However, it wasn't until the birth of my third child, Natalie, that I truly embodied the transformative potential of holistic birth and parenting. Through dedicated preparation, self-care, and community support, I cultivated a profound trust in my own abilities and the natural process of birth. As a certified doula through The Matrona, I've been blessed to learn from the wisdom of Whapio and the Matrona lineage. I strive to bring the knowledge and heart-centered approach of these wise women to every birth I attend, honoring the sacredness and individuality of each family's journey. As a holistic doula, I'm devoted to creating a nurturing space for women to tap into their own strength, resilience, and intuition. I believe that every woman deserves to be seen, heard, and supported throughout her journey into motherhood. My heart is committed to guiding women in embracing their unique experiences, trusting their inner wisdom, and unfolding into the fullness of their own power.

Choosing a doula is a huge decision, and we are so incredibly grateful we found Nia. Before the birth, she provided excellent education, materials, and resources that completely prepped my husband and me on what to expect. She answered all of our questions and truly calmed our fears of the unknown. During delivery, she was absolutely invaluable. She provided amazing support and maintained a wonderfully calm presence throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend her for any mom or couple looking to add a doula to their pregnancy and birthing journey.

October 2026

I cannot recommend Barbara enough! As a first time mom, I wanted to feel supported, informed, and confident throughout my pregnancy and delivery, and Barbara exceeded my expectations in every way. From the very beginning, Barbara made me feel heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. It was clear that she truly wanted me to have a positive birth experience and was committed to making sure both my husband and I felt prepared for what was ahead. She provided us with a very thorough childbirth education course, and we walked away feeling much more knowledgeable, confident, and prepared for labor and delivery. She was incredibly informative and took the time to make sure we understood what to expect. When it was finally time to deliver, Barbara was by my side the entire time. I labored for hours, and her presence made such a difference. She was patient, kind, reassuring, and a tremendous advocate for me throughout the entire process. She knew my birth plan well and made sure my preferences were understood and supported. Whenever I needed something, she was there to help, offer comfort, or simply reassure me when I needed peace of mind. Barbara was also incredibly well prepared. She made sure my delivery room felt calm, peaceful, and welcoming, and she came equipped with the tools and resources to help create a comfortable environment. Her attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and ability to anticipate my needs made me feel cared for every step of the way. Having someone like Barbara in my corner during such a vulnerable and life changing experience was truly invaluable. As a first time mom, there were naturally so many unknowns, but she helped ease my worries and gave me the confidence and reassurance I needed. Her compassion, patience, knowledge, and genuine dedication to her clients make her an exceptional doula. If you are expecting and looking for someone who will listen to you, advocate for you, educate you, and support you throughout your birth journey, I wholeheartedly recommend Barbara. I am so grateful to have had her by my side for such a special moment in my life, and I would absolutely recommend her to any expecting family!
