The cost of a midwife in Glendale, CA can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

California Medicaid covers certified nurse-midwife care, including prenatal services, delivery, and postpartum care, as required for Medicaid programs nationwide. Coverage for licensed or certified professional midwives at home or birth centers depends on the individual plan and does not apply to every member. Glendale has an active local market, with 28 midwives listed within 60 miles. For private insurance, confirm benefits and network requirements directly with your insurer.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Glendale, CA, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

As a first-time mother, I faced a challenging journey—from navigating early trimester symptoms to the uncertainty of labor and delivery. I had the privilege of connecting with a doula, and I was truly honored to have Breana by my side throughout every stage of my pregnancy. Despite my fears surrounding my C-section delivery, Breana stood by me as my strongest advocate. She ensured the hospital staff provided the highest level of care while respecting my preferences and decisions every step of the way. I wholeheartedly recommend that every pregnant woman consider having Breana as their doula. She is truly exceptional!

Hi! My name is Stephanie and I am a Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Birth Story Listener. I felt called to work with birth as a young adult, and love helping folks prepare for and navigate their birth journeys, as well as their relationship to their birth stories. My goal is to help birthing people find an empowered way through whatever comes up for them, and for them to feel supported and seen throughout the process. I also enjoy homeschooling my kids, teaching theater classes, singing in my community choir, and working for a local organic farm at the farmers market in Claremont!

Recent review

I worked with Stephanie prenatally, during labor/delivery, and postpartum too. She was wonderful to work with, a great listener, guided me and my husband well through what we could expect with having our first child, supported me through my various anxieties, and really showed up for us during labor. She was a vital advocate for me while I was at the hospital. She is knowledgable about Spinning Babies (and has received their training), did a visualization exercise with my husband and I in thinking about the unknowns of parenthood and embracing all that was to come, and she was ready and prepared to support us when she came to the hospital. She supported me emotionally and physically through early labor and all the various interventions that became necessary because I was not dilating and my labor was not progressing. Loved working with Stephanie and would recommend her to anyone for support during the birth or new mom phase of life.

Hello, I’m Laurie. Natural Childbirth is my Passion!!! Women are far more powerful then they know!!! I am a mom of 4. After having one natural but unpleasant birth. And one Pitocin assisted birth, (which I don't recommend), I decided to try the Bradley method. I now have two Bradley babies. Both were born without any medical interventions or drugs, thanks to the Bradley method. I loved being in control of my labor and having my husband there, supporting me. My classes teach you How to work with your body, not against it. And help your partner to know how to support your laboring needs. So you can work together to get that precious bundle of joy out quicker and with less pain!!!👉YES, it’s possible! 😊 I became a Bradley instructor because I truly believe it works, I know first hand. I truly wouldn't birth any other way. I also love being able to meet all those cute babies. It's such an honor to make an impact in people's lives. By the end of class my students have become my friends and I wouldn't have it any other way. The Bradley method emphasizes that birth is a natural process: mothers are encouraged to trust their body and focus on diet and exercise throughout pregnancy to keep them low risk. It teaches couples to manage labor through relaxation, deep breathing and the support of a partner or labor coach. Bradley Method® classes teach families how to have natural births, by being their our doulas. The techniques are simple, effective, and based on information about how the human body works during labor.

With over 20 years of experience as a doula, I am dedicated to supporting families with compassionate care, guidance, and advocacy through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My passion is helping parents feel confident, informed, and empowered during one of life’s most meaningful journeys. I am a certified Childbirth Educator, Lactation Counselor, Prenatal Yoga, and Infant Massage. I am also a Registered Nurse.

Recent review

I used Wendy's services exclusively for my postpartum recovery. To begin, I want to share that I am a very private person. This is my second child (my first is three years old), and it has always been my husband and I caring for our children. I have never hired a babysitter because I am not comfortable inviting others into my home, and I tend to be very guarded. However, caring for two children on my own made my recovery slow and difficult, so I decided to try one session with Wendy to see if this type of support would be a good fit for me. Long story short, Wendy changed my life! She fully understood and respected my need for privacy and always made sure I felt comfortable. She was consistently punctual, professional, and attentive. She took the time to understand my home, my children, and my parenting style so she could proactively support me in genuinely helpful ways without ever overstepping my comfort zone. Most importantly, she helped create the space I needed to rest, heal, and recharge. She struck the perfect balance between giving me the privacy and quiet time I needed while also checking in and offering support whenever necessary. Most importantly, both my baby and my three-year-old absolutely ADORED Wendy. She was wonderful with children and made me feel completely comfortable entrusting them to her care. In fact, after her final session, my oldest was so sad to see her go that he begged her to come back and visit him. Wendy has a heart of gold. She is incredibly knowledgeable, a great listener, and a genuinely thoughtful and compassionate person. It was clear to me that this is more than just a job for her—it is her passion. I am beyond grateful that not only I, but also my children, had the opportunity to know Wendy. I highly recommend her as a postpartum doula during one of the most vulnerable and transformative periods in a woman's life. She was exactly the right person for my family, and I am confident she will be for yours as well.

Alix Farnell

Packages from $1,700

As your doula, my role is to support you and your family in the way that best helps you feel calm, confident, and present throughout labor. That might look like hands-on support to help you labor more comfortably at home, guiding your partner in how to do the same, offering gentle coaching as you breathe through contractions, or even quietly capturing photos and keeping loved ones updated. Every birth is unique, and I’m flexible to your goals and desires—even if they shift as labor unfolds. While some people picture doulas as very “woo-woo” or mystical, my style is more grounded and pragmatic. I believe in giving you practical tools, evidence-based guidance, and steady encouragement so you can navigate the challenges of labor with clarity and confidence. I love preparing families by educating them about what to expect and how to respond intentionally, rather than react impulsively in the moment. My professional background is in leadership, mentorship, and professional development, and I bring that same skillset into my doula work—helping you tap into your own strength, stay relaxed, and move through labor as smoothly as your body allows. My ultimate goal is to help you experience the fastest, easiest birth your body is capable of, while holding space for you to feel calm, supported, and fully present in the process.

Having Alix as our doula was the best decision my husband and I made for our birth. I had a long and unexpected labor, and she was our rock through it all. She was knowledgeable, reliable, kind, and incredibly supportive. Alix helped us communicate with the medical staff during stressful moments, making us feel heard and confident in our decisions. She also knew exactly when to step in and when to give us the privacy we needed, which I appreciated so much. After delivery, she helped me with breastfeeding and continued to support us when we needed it most. I truly can't imagine our birth experience without her. I highly recommend Alix to anyone looking for a compassionate and amazing doula.

With years of experience as a midwife and birth professional, I support families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with a holistic, grounded approach that honors both physiology and personal choice. Whether you are planning a home birth, hospital birth, birth center delivery, medicated or unmedicated experience, my role is to help you feel fully prepared — physically, emotionally, and mentally — for the birth you desire. My pregnancy bodywork sessions are designed to support optimal fetal positioning, pelvic balance, and nervous system regulation. When the body is aligned and tension patterns are released, babies can settle into ideal positions and labor often unfolds more smoothly. A regulated nervous system allows you to feel safer, more present, and more empowered — which can significantly impact both birth and postpartum recovery. In addition to hands-on bodywork, I offer comprehensive childbirth education that prepares you for the realities of labor, informed decision-making, partner support, and postpartum recovery. My goal is not to push a specific birth path, but to equip you with knowledge, confidence, and tools so you can navigate your experience feeling supported and in control. I bring both clinical insight and steady presence. I understand the nuances of hospital systems and home birth environments, and I help families advocate for themselves while staying connected to their intuition. Birth is a rite of passage — and preparation matters. When your body is balanced, your nervous system is regulated, and your mind is informed, you enter birth grounded and ready. It is an honor to walk alongside families as they prepare to welcome their babies and step into parenthood with confidence.

Hello there! My name is Sharon Jensen-Cody, and I'm thrilled to connect with you here. In my world, I share my life with my wonderful husband and our 2 kids who fill our days with joy and surprises. My journey into the world of birth-work stems from a deep-rooted passion for pregnancy and childbirth that took hold of me at a young age. The pivotal moment came when I witnessed my sister giving birth when I was just 17. The duality of the experience, both challenging and profoundly beautiful, left an indelible mark on me. My mission as a DONA trained Birth Doula is rooted in empowering women to shape their birth experiences according to their desires. I am dedicated to championing maternal-fetal health and providing unwavering support to women as they embark on one of life's most incredible journeys. I am here to walk alongside you, offering mental, emotional, and physical guidance to make your birth journey a truly empowering and memorable one. Working with Sharon was one of the most reassuring parts of our entire birth experience. From the very beginning, her communication style put us at ease. She paid close attention to the details of our birth plan and made sure our preferences were understood and respected throughout the process. One thing we especially appreciated was her flexibility around when to join us at the hospital. She checked in often, helped us navigate the early stages from afar, and arrived right when we entered active labor. From that moment on, her presence made a noticeable difference. She helped lower our stress, and we trusted her implicitly in how she advocated for us with the nursing staff. Her strong rapport with the team at Woodland Hills Kaiser Permanente made everything feel that much smoother. Sharon’s depth of experience came through in every interaction. She was calm when we needed calm, confident when we needed guidance, and always focused on making sure we felt supported. We’re incredibly grateful for her and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to any family looking for a doula who is both highly skilled and genuinely compassionate. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.

Annie is so great, thoughtful and resourceful! She is knowledgeable in her field and any question I had that she didn't have the answer to, she was willing to look into it! When it came time to deliver, she remained calm and helped me focus on my breathing. We got to the hospital when I was already 9 centimeters. Annie talked through the things the doctors were telling me and my husband. I could feel confident after that. Now that baby is home, Annie has kept up with us, always checking in, and willing to come visit. I also appreciate her personal training background. Once I'm cleared for exercise, I'm looking forward to Annie's assistance into getting back in shape. Thank you Annie for all that you are!

Hi, I'm Monica—the heart behind Bloom & Breathe Doula Co. I'm a proud Mexican and Guatemalan woman, born and raised in Southern California, where family, community, and caring for others have always been at the center of my life. At 31 years old, I've spent the last five years working in the field of child development, supporting children and families through some of their most important milestones. That passion naturally led me to birth work, where I discovered my calling: walking alongside growing families with compassionate, evidence-based care during one of life's most transformative seasons. As mom to an energetic, fun-loving, and incredibly kind two-year-old who wholeheartedly believes he's Spider-Man, motherhood has been the greatest gift of my life, and it's given me a deep appreciation for the joys, challenges, and incredible strength that come with raising a child. Happily married to the man who made me a mom and my biggest source of support throughout my pregnancy, labor, and delivery, he stood beside me every step of the way—offering encouragement, reassurance, and unwavering love. Experiencing that kind of support firsthand shaped my understanding of how powerful it is to feel truly seen, cared for, and advocated for during birth. It's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about ensuring every family feels supported in a way that reflects their own needs and values. I believe every parent deserves to feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As your doula, my role is to provide continuous emotional, physical, and educational support while honoring your unique preferences, values, and birth goals. Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, a scheduled cesarean, a VBAC, or anything in between, I am committed to creating a calm, judgment-free space where you feel confident making informed decisions for yourself and your baby. My approach is deeply personal because no two families are the same. I take the time to understand your hopes, answer your questions, and support you through every stage of your journey. From prenatal preparation and labor support to postpartum care, my goal is to ensure you always feel informed, nurtured, and never alone. For me, being a doula is about so much more than birth—it's about building meaningful relationships and helping families begin this new chapter feeling confident, supported, and deeply cared for. It would be an honor to walk alongside you, celebrate your strength, and help you welcome your little one with peace, confidence, and unwavering support.

We hired Monica as a postpartum mommy helper starting when our baby was 2 weeks old, and she was wonderful to have during those early, overwhelming weeks. Our baby had some digestive issues and was quite fussy, and Monica was very patient and attentive with him, she had so many practical tips and suggestions for soothing him that genuinely made a difference for our whole household. She has clearly worked with a lot of babies and it showed in how calm and confident she was, even during the hard stretches. She was also wonderful with our 3-year-old, who needed extra attention during this transition, and it meant so much to see him looked after with the same warmth and care. We felt so supported having her with us during this time and would recommend her to any family, especially those navigating a fussy or colicky baby. Thank you, Monica!

From labor and delivery to postpartum, she provided guidance, education, encouragement, and a calming presence every step of the way. As your doula you will receive warm and personal care for your needs as you transition through your pregnancy. The focus will be about nutrition, exercise, self care, lactation, and plans for a safe and healthy post pregnancy recovery. As your postpartum doula, meal preparation, light housework, shopping, and caring for your baby will be provided to enable you to rest and recover. I am a retired RN for L&D/pediatric newborns. I have 8 adult children, 16 grandchildren, and two dogs. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, singing in my church choir, and traveling with family.

Having Lori as my doula completely changed my labor experience. I had 2 kids prior to finding Lori and she took care of me in every way possible. She made sure to understand my wants and needs before the big day came. She taught me some breathing techniques and how to relax the body. She was very detailed in her lessons, extremely sweet and caring. She treated my family as her own. When the big day came, Lori made sure that not only I was taken care of but my husband as well. I describe my labor experience as a day at the spa. We had music, dimmed lights, massages with essential oils and snacks. She made sure I was comfortable the whole time as well as my husband. She allowed my husband and I to experience the beauty of bringing a child into this world without all the stress of making sure my decisions with my labor was being honored. She not only held the doctors and nurses accountable but she did the same to me with having my child naturally. She brought scripture to me that my husband would read to me which gave me the strength to get through it even when it was too hard and I wanted to give up. Even after the baby was here, lori made sure I was taken care of. She came to my home, allowed me to rest and helped with my daily routine so nothing fell through the cracks. She truly took care of me and my family. I will definitely use Lori again as my doula.
