I am a Mother of my lovely 6 year old son and my 2.5 year old daughter. As a birth and postpartum doula and the Founder of my Women's Wellness Organization 'Chikkitsa' I have dedicated my study and practice to Holistic health and wellness that focuses on the Mother-Baby dyad as a sacred union. Adept in newborn care, soothing techniques, and postpartum mood disorders. Advanced Specialties: High-risk births, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), trauma-informed care, or bereavement support. I am skilled in helping Mothers prepare for natural labour and birth integrating movement, nutrition and breath work in my care. I have also led homebirths and helped mothers recover from a difficult birth especially an emergency C-section. I specialize in postpartum body care and pranic healing (a form of reiki) to help mother recover better and sooner so she can be present to her most cherished time of life with her little one and can actually enjoy this phase she worked so hard for. I look forward to honouring your birth.

I have worked with Gopika during my first homebirth. She was the perfect holistic postpartum guide and was fortunate to take her reiki, postpartum massage and counseling. What sets her apart is her ability to clearly see where the struggles stem from and how everything is connected. She is highly educated in women nervous system and work with the body as a whole. Highly recommend to anyone who needs prenatal and postpartum support.

Working with Mak has honestly been one of the best decisions we’ve made during this pregnancy. From the very first consultation, she was so kind, genuine, and informative. She came to my home, sat down with me, walked me through what her role as a doula would look like, answered all my questions, and instantly made me feel comfortable. I never felt pressured or “sold to” at all. If anything, she gave me the information and confidence I needed to make the best decision for myself. What stood out to me most was how empowering she was. She reminded me that I was fully capable of having a beautiful birth experience with or without a doula, which I really respected. In the end, I chose to move forward with her because I could tell her focus was truly on supporting both me and my partner throughout the experience. She also checks in often just to see how I’m doing and how pregnancy is going, and she always congratulates me with each passing week. It may seem small, but it’s been so encouraging and reassuring during this season, especially after 4 previous miscarriages. Our first official appointment together was amazing too. My partner was there and had such a great experience with her as well. She’s very hands-on in such a comforting and supportive way. She guided us through different exercises and learning activities without it ever feeling overwhelming. She brought dolls to teach diaper changing, diapers, a medicine ball, handouts for birth prep, interactive card games around birth preferences and important conversations, and so many other thoughtful tools. You can tell she really knows her stuff and genuinely cares about the families she works with. The heart she brings into her work is really special and has made this experience even more magical than it already always was!

Hello Mamas! I'm Char 🌸—a Birth & Postpartum Doula and Prenatal Yoga Instructor. It's been an honour supporting families through this special journey. BIRTH: My goal is to help you feel empowered, informed, and supported every step of the way. Whether you're planning a hospital or home birth, I meet you where you are and act as a bridge between your vision and your experience. POSTPARTUM: We once lived in a society where mothers raised their babies with other mothers. Each was held through her journey to Motherhood and knowledge was passed on from grandmothers to mothers. These days, mothers live a very different reality. Communal living has disappeared and families are spread out, leaving minimal help available. The sense of community is not as present as it once was, and that can feel isolating—especially for mothers. My goal is to be there during the peak of postpartum, allowing for a supportive transition into parenthood. EXPERIENCE: I've supported families with Birth and Postpartum through the Doula Service Association, the Doula for Aboriginal Families Grant Program, and Vancouver Coastal Health's Indigenous Health team. My background also includes work as a Pregnancy Outreach Worker with Burnaby Family Life, leading prenatal groups, one-on-one sessions, and postpartum support circles.

Charlene was an exceptional doula to my family. She helped my husband and I welcome our second child in North Vancouver this summer and I don't know what we would have done without her. She was compassionate, knowledgable, extremely skilled at birthing support, and helped hold us all together during a challenging labour, as well as provided us with all kinds of helpful support before and after the delivery. I can't say enough kind things about her, she thought of all the small things to make the journey easier for us, she comes highly recommended.

My path to becoming a doula began with my own births. As a mother, I have experienced how deeply birth can shape a woman. My last birth, supported by a doula, showed me the quiet power of being held without judgment, without pressure, just steady, present support. It changed everything for me. I have attended seven births so far, each one strengthening my respect for this work and deepening my calling to walk alongside women as they welcome new life. I have completed my doula training through Douglas College, where I developed the knowledge and skills to provide thoughtful, informed, and compassionate care. I believe birth is not something to be feared, but something to be witnessed and supported through. A doula holds that space, grounded and aware, so the mother can let go. With one foot in the conscious world, we create safety, allowing her to turn inward, trust herself, and fully enter the experience. In that space, she returns to herself. She rises into her instinctive, powerful nature. This is the heart of my work. I am committed to practicing cultural safety and honoring every client’s unique background, beliefs, and lived experience. My goal is to create a space where you feel respected, heard, and fully supported, exactly as you are. I am there to hold steady, to protect the space, and to support you as you move through one of the most defining moments of your life. Through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and loss, my role is to ensure you feel seen, safe, and supported every step of the way. You can expect calm presence, emotional support, and gentle guidance when you need it most. You will always have someone in your corner. I am committed to continually deepening my knowledge and learning new techniques to better support both mother and baby.

Jessica was an integral part of our birthing. She provided amazing support during a pregnancy, making herself available by phone, text, email and in person when we had concerns, or needed support. Jessica is an understanding, smart, reliable and supportive person who knows so much about pregnancy and birthing, and is able to provide advice and support as, you go through the adventure of childbearing. We feel so fortunate and lucky to have had Jessica as our Doula. As the supporting partner, when Jessica arrived during labor, she was able to take over the situation and provide my birthing partner with support and strategies as needed. Jessica knew when to give space, and when to take action, And was such a delight. After having our first child, I cannot imagine going through another birth without her. We are so thankful for everything Jessica. We are grateful for your involvement and Care

In 2016, when I gave birth to my first child, I want to share with you all how much help my dear friend Aeran was to me. At the time, I was living in the Surrey area and going through my pregnancy and birth journey with a midwife. Through my midwife, I learned about doula services and had already signed up for one. On the day I went into labor, mild contractions turned into active labor, and I immediately informed both my doula and my closest friend, Aeran—who had already experienced childbirth herself several times. (At that time, she was not a doula yet, but a very experienced birth “senior.”) When my contractions became less than 10 minutes apart, we headed to the hospital, and that was when the indescribable pain truly began. Even after arriving at the hospital, after a total of 17 hours of labor, I was finally able to hold my baby through a natural birth. (Halfway through, the pain became unbearable, and I did receive an epidural.) To be honest, the pain was so intense that my memories from that time are not very clear. Yet, the moments that remain vividly with me are almost all memories of Aeran caring for me so attentively. My husband and the doula were also by my side and did their best to support me, but throughout those long hours, Aeran stayed awake the entire night without sleeping even once (while my husband and the doula did manage to rest briefly). She constantly reassured me emotionally, telling me I was doing well, helped calm me down, massaged me wherever I needed, and took care of everything I required. And when my baby was finally born after that long and exhausting labor, the person who cried with joy—almost more than I did—was Aeran. (Sorry to my husband and the doula at the time, but I honestly don’t remember much about them;;;) As an immigrant, I gave birth without my own mother being able to come to Canada yet to help me. In that moment, Aeran played a role far greater than that of a mother. In fact, I don’t believe anyone else could have cared for me so devotedly throughout the entire night without any rest. So when I later heard that Aeran had decided to formally study and pursue the path of becoming a doula, I was truly overjoyed and cheered for her, knowing it was such a wonderful decision. I am deeply confident that her natural character, the way she treats people, and her strong sense of calling and passion for her work will shine beautifully in her role as a doula. Anyone who has experienced her doula services—whether as a mother or as a family member—will know that there is not a single exaggeration in what I have written here. I sincerely hope that this story helps someone who is reading this as they make their own choice.

When I realized my original birth plan with a midwife wouldn't be possible, I started to dread labour and birth. I was terrified of an overly medicalized process, losing my autonomy, agreeing to interventions I didn't fully understand, and the potential of lasting birth trauma. Working with Syllona changed everything. My labour and the birth of my son ended up being the most intense, beautiful, and transformative experience of my life, and I credit Syllona with much of this outcome. Her guidance and encouragement leading up to the labour allowed my partner and me to make the exact right decisions for our family. With Syllona’s grounded support, I confidently turned inwards, connected to my body in ways I never had before, and truly believed in my innate ability to give birth. Because of her, I felt empowered to guide my baby into our world, comforting him and letting him know he was safe. Thank you, Syllona, for guiding us and helping us bring our son into this world. I cannot recommend her highly enough to any expecting parents.

I am incredibly grateful to have had Rachel by my side during the birth of my baby girl. From the very beginning, she was so kind, accommodating, and genuine, and she made me feel completely supported and cared for throughout such a deeply personal and transformative experience. What stood out to me most about Rachel is that her care never felt business-minded or transactional. She strongly advocates for women and is truly passionate about her job. She was attentive to my needs, flexible with what I needed in each moment, and always made me feel heard and respected. Her approach is holistic and extends far beyond simply caring for mom and baby — she takes the time to consider the entire family and that personally gave me a great comfort. I feel so fortunate that she was part of such an important chapter in our lives, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to any family looking for a doula who cares for the whole family with genuine love and intention.
