Shanicqua Meyers

I have always been passionate about helping those expecting and their loved ones learn how to advocate for their needs. I am currently in my Doula Certification program, but have helped families for many years. Through my travels and lived experiences in and out of the U.S, I bring knowledge and wisdom from many cultures, including my own Caribbean heritage. My goal is to teach those who are expecting how to listen to their bodies, take care of their needs inside and out, and have the type of birth that they have always imagined. I also support families through changes that may occur during labor and delivery by assisting in creating flexible birth plans. In case of postpartum and bereavement, I provide care, sensitivity, and tools focused on grieving. I am here to support you and cheer you on as an advocate and loving birth assistant.

We are beyond grateful for the support and care we received from Mrs. Shanicqua. Throughout our pregnancy and postpartum journey. From the very beginning, she provided incredible insight on nutrition, breastfeeding, and what to realistically expect during both pregnancy and postpartum. Her knowledge gave us confidence, but more importantly, her presence gave us peace. She has a true gift for supporting families — not just with information, but with compassion. During postpartum, when emotions can feel overwhelming, she was a steady voice of reassurance and encouragement. She helped us navigate those feelings in a healthy way and has always made herself available when we needed guidance. Beyond being an amazing doula, she has also been such a supportive and genuine friend to us in this process. Her care never felt transactional — it felt personal, intentional, and deeply invested in our well-being as a growing family. We truly couldn’t imagine this journey without her and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for knowledgeable, compassionate, and heartfelt doula support.

We were lucky enough to have Leah as our night nurse for six months, starting from the very first night we brought our son home from the hospital. From day one, she brought such a calm, reassuring presence into our home—and we instantly trusted her. Leah is incredibly knowledgeable and was a steady guide for us as first-time parents. She helped our son develop a strong, consistent schedule (both day and night), which made a huge difference for everyone’s sleep and sanity. She was also an amazing resource for postpartum support—always ready with thoughtful advice and encouragement when we needed it most. In addition, Leah is flexible and truly does her best to accommodate any schedule changes. She always made us feel like our family’s well-being was her top priority. Our baby absolutely adored her and gravitated toward her from the beginning. Leah made a meaningful impact on our family, and we’re so grateful for the care and peace of mind she gave us. If you’re considering night support for your newborn, I can’t recommend her highly enough!

theeloahdoula@gmail.com <- Best way to contact me. Peace & blessings! My name is Mislene and I have been providing doula support in my community for about 6 years now. Being a doula brings me so much joy and I love what I do! Assisting in this beautiful experience, as a guide while you deliver a complex being into this realm is my passion. Within my Haitian culture, I have learn so much about the process of taking care of a woman’s body, especially during pregnancy and birth. Haiti really emphasizes in womb healing, and being surrounded by the women of the village during this intimate moment. I provide physical, emotional, mental, and informational support, to women and their partners. I make sure that you and your partner are confident enough to be your own advocates to ensure a positive birth experience. This is my true purpose.

Mislene is AMAZING! I’m so blessed that she was sent my way. I felt truly seen and heard from prenatal care to postpartum. I knew going into my birth that I had someone on my team who not only understood my birth plan but was going to be my voice of reason when I needed it. She provided natural remedies for my pregnancy carpal tunnel, taught me so many poses and exercises that helped me get ready for the big day, always reassured me that I was doing amazing and that I got this! Mislene is honestly like family to me now. I’d recommend/review her any chance I get, because I truly appreciate what she has done for my family. She even recommended an amazing pediatrician that we still use today. Her energy is so nurturing and kind but she also knows when to be strong for you when you need it! More women need her on their side through this crazy journey of motherhood. Hire her you will be glad you did. Love you girl <3

Chawnie Baker

21 years of experience

“No matter how you choose to birth, I believe in the power of informed choice and support for making informed decisions about your care. I also recognize that every family and birth is unique, and I take pride in my dedication to customized support when holding space for a positive and empowering birth experience.” I’m Chawnie—a dedicated wife, twin mom, and DONA‑trained birth and postpartum doula with a deep passion for empowering families. My journey began while earning a biology degree at the University of West Georgia, which sparked my love for informed care. Since then, I’ve continued my education with intentional birth coaching, prenatal & postpartum yoga, and Pilates certifications—plus extensive training in breastfeeding support. As a twin mom myself, I intimately understand the unique needs of families expecting multiples—and I combine that lived experience with a commitment to evidence-based support. I’ve supported births of all kinds—natural, medicated, hospital, home, VBAC, and c-section—with a proud emphasis on honoring whatever birth path you choose. My approach is rooted in education, advocacy, and unshakeable calm. I aim to equip partners with practical tools, guide birthers through decisions with clarity, and ensure every voice in the room is heard. It’s an honor to usher families through such a sacred transition, fostering confidence, ease, and support from pregnancy through postpartum—and beyond.

Chawnie was the best doula our family could’ve asked for. Prior to and during the birth, she always helped us be as informed as possible. She also never pressured us into a single way of doing things, but acted as a guide for us to make the best decisions for me and my baby. Since my child was born, she’s remained a loving person I consider a part of our extended family and I would recommend her to anyone pregnant looking for a doula.

— Amanda V., review of Mislene Cherisca July 2026

My son was measuring 10 pounds and when I was burning him, my water broke and I had meconium in my water and then during birth we had shoulder dysplasia and I was so thankful to have Mislene there too assist and help keep me calm and also, she took pictures when my partner was able to step in once the baby was born. She was able to help me navigate laboring without an epidural and helped when I was having contractions and trying different positions and during the pushing process, she was there. I loved having her expertise to keep me calm and focused. Also helping my husband support me even more than he already was. I would recommend a Doula to everyone do not birth without a Doula!!

— Erica R., review of Mislene Cherisca July 2026

I asked for a doula very late in the game (I was about 30-32 weeks, I believe?) so everything was expediated. Despite that short time frame, I got so much knowledge from my doula. She asked some questions to my doctors that I forgot to but I was grateful for and they were based on our previous conversations about what I wanted in my birth plan. I loved meeting in person and going over details in person with papers and things to show different things. I just want to say Mislene is awesome, amazing, empathetic, and a bright light!
