With a heart for service, she has supported numerous families as they bring their children into the world. Brandi and her husband, Brian, have been married for 14 years and are blessed with eight children. They have called the Mississippi Gulf Coast home for the past 10 years. Outside of her professional life, Brandi homeschools five of her children, enjoys playing bunco with her church family, spends quality time on date nights with her husband, and loves reading a wide variety of books. FOR THE GUYS! If you are on the fence about making the financial commitment to getting Brandi for your woman’s upcoming delivery, let me tell you that it is worth every single penny! I have been through two deliveries with my wife, the first one without a doula, the second one with Brandi. If you have been through labor with your woman before without a doula, then you know how bad it is for your woman. You also know how bad it feels to not be able to help your woman in labor because you just don’t know how. And even if you did, your woman doesn’t wanna listen to you since are indeed a man! If you haven’t been through labor with your woman, buckle up, because it is a rough ride! And I promise you this, the baby doesn’t care if it is 3:00 AM and you have work the next day, it is coming! My wife woke me up around 1:00AM or so and said our little boy was on the way. By 2:00 AM, Brandi was there in our home helping my wife through contractions. She worked magic that only a woman with heavy amounts of experience can execute. And she did it with a calm and peaceful presence and a professional level of expertise. Not only does Brandi help your woman through labor, she helps you by taking care of your woman so you can load up the truck! Next thing I knew, we were driving down Highway 49 headed to the hospital. We pulled up to the ER entrance at 3:00 AM. I unloaded my wife, the ER nurse grabbed a wheelchair, and Brandi rushed in and helped escort my wife up to labor and delivery. That gave me a chance to go park the truck and grab the bags since I knew my wife was in good hands. Brandi continued to guide my wife through labor once we were in the delivery room, calming her down in ways only a doula could. By 5:40 AM, our little boy way delivered! In summary, not getting Brandi would be foolish. If you are lucky enough to get a chance to hire her for your woman’s delivery, you will forever be glad you did. And your woman will be more grateful than words can express! Good luck and enjoy the ride, gentleman! P.S. Make sure to get her placenta encapsulated! And then nicely remind her to take a few capsules whenever she isn’t feeling herself postpartum!

From such a young age, we are taught to fear birth. We are told that birth is a something that we have to get through in order to have a baby. Birth is demonized and seen as dangerous and something that must be managed. But the more and more that I do this work, the more and more that I just cannot believe this is true. Yes, birth is intense, and birth is hard. But birth is not bad, it is not something that we need to avoid or get through. When given the space and care, birth transforms us. It can show you your strength, it can empower you, it can call you to lean on the love and support of the ones around you. Birth asks you to make space for the parts of yourself that we so often try to hide. It asks you to draw inward and trust your intuition and be loud and take up space.  My job as a doula is not to be your voice or to make your birth happen any specific way, but it is to make space for your voice to be heard and make space for you to have autonomy over your body and decisions. It is to join you in holding the physical intensity of birth. Nothing that I do can take that away, but my goal is to help you know that you are never alone in walking through it, and hopefully give you tools and options to support your body. Your birth is your birth, not mine, not your sisters, not your parents.  I am a body positive, lgbtq+ affirming doula. I have a special interest in supporting clients in low-intervention, physiological births, with an emphasis on following your intuition and values. I understand that the world does not treat us all equally; my mission is to ensure that all people are able to have access to affirming, compassionate, and empowering care. Please check out my website (www.honeybirthbham.com) if you believe we would be a good fit!
