My passion for this work stems from my own experiences. My first two babies entered the world in quite traumatic experiences, following severe postpartum depression and lactation issues. I remember thinking to myself “I don’t want anyone else going through this alone”. I quickly became the lady that friends and family called when they needed help or had questions. I had no idea what a doula was until someone sent me a thank you card one time that said “Thank you for being my doula”. This word really got me. I had no clue what that was. I decided to look it up and to my surprise I found it originated from Greece and means “to serve or mother the mother”. I instantly fell in love with that and realized that it was my calling. I hardly ever hold babies because they are in the safest place in the world, their mother’s arms. I always hold the mother though because just like her baby, she was just born too.

Hello, I'm LaCrisha, but most people call me Crisha. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and I’m proud to call it my hometown. I’m blessed with a wonderful, supportive husband, five amazing kids, and a few adorable grandchildren. My happiest moments are spent with my family—whether we’re going out to eat, enjoying a good movie together, or dancing the night away. For many years, I found myself in labor and delivery rooms, supporting family members, friends, and even friends of friends. Sometimes, people assumed I was there to translate, but most of the time, I was simply there to help and offer comfort. It became such a natural role for me that people began asking how long I’d been a nurse. Though I’m not a nurse, I realized how much I love helping others during such a monumental time in their lives. Now, as a Certified Doula, I feel incredibly grateful and honored to be part of these intimate and life-changing moments. Meeting new moms-to-be feels like gaining instant family, and I cherish the opportunity to support them as they step into this exciting new chapter of their lives. I am a mother of 5 and Dede (grandmother)to one darling little girl. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am an animal lover with 2 rescue dogs and 2 rescue pigs! I love to cook vegan meals and enjoy taking traditional meal recipes and making them vegan! I have a huge heart and am very sensitive to my environment and those around me in an intuitive way. I LOVE people and am genuinely curious about everyone I meet. I have been told my whole life that I am a good listener. I also have unique perspective on life and situations in general. During stressful events, I am a pillar of strength, calm and stoic. I help those around me stay grounded. Maybe that makes me sound boring, but I assure you I am anything BUT. My sense of humor will keep you laughing (releasing oxytocin) through labor. Until you get to the part where you need quiet. I have an uncanny ability to "read the room" and blend in to the background if that's what best suits the situation. I connect and attune quickly and effortlessly to my clients. I have been a doula for about 20 years. When I was in the thick of motherhood myself, I knew that I needed a career where I could help people during life's transitions. My business took off and here we are. Over that course of time, I have served hundreds of families and have trained hundreds of doulas too!

I’m a work from home mom and I had my first baby in June of 2023! My husband and I have been married since 2022 and we’ve grown up in Kansas City our whole life. I’ve been passionate about birth since I saw my mother birth her last two children about 10 years ago and noticed how much women need advocates and support during pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum! Since then, I’ve been trained as a doula through GEM (Global Education of the Midwife) and have been pursuing a postpartum doula course as well. I hope to provide my clients with all the information necessary to empower them to make informed decisions about their birth plan/goals. If a client is open to it, I also love my Christian faith and try to implement that in areas of my work as well.

My background as an RN in both critical care and medical oncology largely involved walking alongside patients facing the end of life. These experiences sparked a deep passion in me to see that individuals are given a chance at the healthiest possible life - from the very start! This led me to complete Birth and Postpartum Doula Training through DONA International, as well as Lamaze Childbirth Educator training, so I could better support families from pre-conception all the way through the “fourth trimester” of postpartum. I believe these professional experiences, along with my personal journey as a mother of three—with births in both hospital and freestanding birth center settings—have uniquely equipped me to support families during the most vulnerable and powerful moments of becoming a parent.
