Hello! My name is Claire Agnew, and I am a newly trained Birth Doula looking to get experience while I am completing my undergraduate degree! I am majoring in Women and Gender Studies here at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and planning to pursue an accelerated Nursing degree after I graduate! As a full-time student, I am currently only able to take on postpartum clients for shifts, info, and anything else you may need within the scope of the doula practice!

I am a birth and postpartum doula who loves working with new families as they grow and develop! When it comes to birth, I believe each person labors and births in their own unique way, and I want to discover what the birth process looks like for you. I believe the postpartum period is a time of rest, healing, and bonding for new parents, and I lovingly support that process in your home. When I'm not doula-ing, I enjoy reading, yoga, and spending time outside.

I am a DONA-certified birth doula practicing in the Ann Arbor, MI area. I believe that doula support is a right, not a privilege, so my fees are nominal and my services are above and beyond. In addition to the usual DONA certification training, I am also trained through Survivor Moms and I also volunteer with the Michigan Prison Doula Initiative, in addition to my private practice. I have no time cut-off, so if your labor is moving slowly, I will stay with you all the way. I have been told that my kindness, compassion and ability to listen and advocate has been a godsend to many of my clients.

I am a passionate birth doula who is dedicated to helping mothers feel heard and in control of their pregnancy and birth by finding trust, strength, and empowerment through listening to the intuition we all have as mothers. My personal experiences of having a C-section, a miscarriage, and a VBAC have all encouraged me to help educate and support other women throughout their own journeys. My goal is for mother and partner to feel supported through prenatal education and confident in trusting their combined intuition to make the best decisions for their family in this life changing moment.

We so often are in search of magic, without realizing we have it right inside of ourselves. For me, becoming a mother has proven that to be true. Birthing Ancestors was created from the idea that when you have a child you are not only birthing a future generation, but you are also birthing yourself as a parent - someone’s ancestor. It is my greatest honor to holistically support you throughout every stage of your childbearing journey, and help you to discover the magic that has always been inside of you. Since becoming a certified Full Spectrum Doula in 2021, I have fallen deeply in love with this work. I have expanded my knowledge to support clients from fertility/preconception planning thru postpartum, with special interests in herbal and nutritional support. I also have 200hr yoga teacher certification giving me knowledge in anatomy, stretching and strengthening muscles, relaxation techniques, and preparing the body for labor.

My favorite moment during birth is seeing the laboring person tap into a strength that most do not realize has always been there. I am Kayla Connors; a black birth worker from Allen Park, MI. I trained with DONA International in March of 2020 and have recently re-trained with ProDoula. While black and native laboring people statistically face more complications from and after labor, the inflexible nature of the healthcare system impacts ALL of us. I am here to help you navigate your labor by grounding you in your birth experience. What does that mean? I recognize that each laboring person has that kernel of strength within them. It is natural for that strength to be clouded by uncertainty. My name is Alyssa and I am a 22 year old Certified Birth Doula. I became a doula due to my desire to help families during a truly special time in their lives. Originally, I attended a university to pursue a career being a Labor & Delivery or Neonatal nurse. But after doing research, I discovered the wonderful world of Doulas. I instantly fell in love with it. As of now, I have received my certificate from International Doula Institute and working towards my Postpartum Doula certificate. As I am not a mother yet (definitely planning on it!), I have two little dogs who are like my kids in a way. They mean the world to me along with my long term boyfriend. After falling in love with my birthing experience, I wanted to help support other expectant mothers in having the birth experience of their dreams. During the pandemic I was becoming a first time mom and had no idea what to expect so I researched and found an amazing doula. My doula helped me gain the knowledge and resources needed to plan and have an unmedicated vaginal birth at a birthing center. After this, I became certified as a Doula through Best Doula. Giving birth helped me to realize that having a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies as well as 10+ years experience working with children and families did not fully prepare me for the preparation needed to give birth.
