Laine Ferguson

Laine Ferguson

2 years of experience

Hi, I’m Laine (she/her)! I am a full-spectrum doula, plant lover, and mom of two incredible little humans. My own journey - welcoming my first child in 2018, experiencing pregnancy loss, and later giving birth to my second in 2023 - deeply shaped my path and passion for birth work. Both of my births were supported by wonderful doulas, and their steady presence inspired me to offer the same kind of care to others. As your doula, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to help you feel nurtured, empowered, prepared, and cared for - no matter how or where you choose to give birth. I love working with new parents and growing families, and I hold space for the wide range of emotions and transformations that come with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My approach blends compassionate emotional and physical support with practical tools like childbirth education and baby wearing guidance. I’m also passionate about birth photography and love capturing the beauty and power of labour, birth, and those magical first moments together. Through my practice, I offer in-person Labour & Birth Doula support, Childbirth Education, Birth Photography, and Birth Equipment Rentals for families in Nelson, BC and across the West Kootenays. I also support families from afar with Virtual Prenatal & Childbirth Education, 1:1 Virtual Birth Planning, and options that make doula care more accessible when local support just isn’t available, or financially do-able. When I’m not supporting families, you can usually find me tending to my plants, playing up at Whitewater, or keeping up with life alongside my two kiddos. Certifications and Trainings: Maternal Support Practitioner – Full Spectrum Doula Training (Bebo Mia) Essence of Birth Photography (Birth Becomes You) Childbirth Educator Training (Bebo Mia) Advanced VBAC Doula Certification (The VBAC Link) First Aid & CPR-C/AED (The Lifesaving Society) IPAC Training (Provincial Infection Control Network) I’m also an approved provider under BC’s Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program, meaning my services may be eligible at low-cost or no-cost. The Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program (DAFGP) is offered by the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres, Provincial Health Services Authority, and the BC Ministry of Health. The goal of the program is to increase healthy birth outcomes for Indigenous families by removing the cost barrier to accessing doula services.

Since I can remember, I have always found deep love and interest in the perinatal period. My first encounter with pregnancy and birth occurred when I was very young; my mum showed me the 1995 film Nine Months, directed by Chris Columbus, starring Julianne Moore and Hugh Grant, and I was hooked! Essentially, I watched any movie or TV show (that I was aware of) that featured the perinatal period. Some of the shows that I have watched countless times are One Born Every Minute (Channel 4) and Call The Midwife (BBC One). I bring the film and shows up because it is an integral part of the story that led me to become a doula; it kept the spark alive long enough for me to find a way forward into working within the birth and postpartum world. Then, when I went to Mount Royal University to get my Bachelor of Arts degree, it only felt natural to accompany it with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies, so I see myself as a certified feminist (lol). I have always believed that people are entitled to feel empowered during their birth, and with that comes support, which is where I come in. As your doula, it is my job to support you and your birthing team throughout the duration of your birth. I will never make decisions on your behalf or try to influence your choices, but I will support you in making those decisions, and yes, that includes postpartum care. I will hold space for you and your support team, and I will do my best to help you advocate for your wishes. I understand that the perinatal period is a very vulnerable time, and I feel honoured and blessed to be able to accompany you on your journey.

Hello! I’m Nicole, a Birth and Postpartum Doula based in Calgary, Alberta. My motto is simple: Your body. Your baby. YOUR choice. Period. Every human deserves full autonomy over their body—and my role as a doula is to walk beside you through life’s beginnings, endings, and everything in between. Alongside birth and postpartum care, I also serve as an End-of-Life Doula and am expanding my training in infertility, pregnancy, and infant loss support. In addition to being obsessed with babies—just call me the baby whisperer—I’m an animal lover, nature enthusiast, and strong advocate for “bringing back the village.” My practice is rooted in respect for all identities and lived experiences, with a focus on creating compassionate spaces where every voice is celebrated. Supporting families through birth and postpartum is both an honour and a calling I hold close to my heart. Through my own journey of learning how to advocate for myself and navigate our healthcare system, I understand how vital it is to feel heard and respected. My goal is to help give people their voice back—offering unbiased, non-judgmental support, evidence-based information, and personalized care, from prenatal visits and continuous labour support to postpartum guidance and community referrals. I’m especially passionate about serving underserved communities, advocating for inclusive, equitable care, and supporting those who’ve felt dismissed or unheard in healthcare settings. Outside of doula work, I enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, travelling, and going on adventures with my partner and our dog. I firmly believe everyone deserves compassionate support, which is why I offer a sliding scale for my services—making doula care accessible to all families.

Adele Pardy Callfas

I’m Adele (she/her), birth and postpartum doula, perinatal educator, Evidence Based Birth Instructor, owner of The Hive Doula Services, RMT, mom to an 18 year old, and born in Ontario but lived in Calgary for almost 21 years. You can find me obsessing over birth photos and placentas, sending birthing videos to my bestie, and dreaming about the birth room. Birth is such a beautiful and empowering moment that we all get to witness. Your birth team should support and honour you, as this is your birth, your body, your baby. As your doula I offer evidence based information and resources. I 100% believe in you and your ability to go through this journey and into parenthood. And will low key throw some throat punches if needed (I’m mostly joking). I truly feel that everyone deserves a doula ♥️. Let’s connect and see if we are a fit.

Looking back, Adele was a pivotal reason that my birth was such a good experience. She provided me and my husband with excellent support during our pre meetings. She was a calm and patient presence as I laboured both at home and at the hospital. She advocated for me to get the right anesthetist for an, originally unplanned, epidural, as I have scoliosis. She took gorgeous photos of the birth that I’ll cherish forever. She provided such tender care during our post-partum home visits. Adele is a joy—and even better she is an immensely knowledgeable joy. She is tranquil magic during the long journey of birth, and I’m so grateful that she helped me bring my baby girl into the world.

Welcome - my name is Lindsey, and I'm the doula behind Blue Hazel Birth Services. Supporting people through their birth journey has been a dream of mine for over a decade and I feel blessed to have been living this dream for the past 2 years. I have a deep passion for nurturing and empowering those around me through challenging transitions, and my love of all things birth has combined with this to lead me into a career as a birth doula. I believe that birth is a sacred experience for the birthing family and my role as your birth doula is always to support and empower you through your experience - this means creating and holding space for you, to your level of comfort with the birth experience. This means that I support both couples and single birthers of all backgrounds without discrimination. No matter where you are on your journey towards birth, you are welcome here. Lindsey was the emotional and physical support that I wish I would have had with my first baby! Birth is an out of this world experience, and Lindsey’s touch and voice brought me back into my body. She was so sweet and nurturing and I felt so well taken care of the whole time. I couldn’t have done it without her.

Jessica is an amazing birthing partner. Her loving nature and calm demeanour put me at ease during my labour and delivery. She is knowledgeable and a tremendous advocate for birthing plans.

— Jennifer T., review of Jessica Anstey July 2026

Amber was an incredible support throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. From the very beginning, she was kind, understanding, and incredibly informative. She helped me clearly define my ideal birth plan by asking thoughtful questions I hadn’t even considered, which made me feel more confident and prepared going into labour. Throughout my pregnancy, Amber provided consistent emotional and physical support. She was always available when I needed to talk, and her calm, reassuring presence made a huge difference during such an important time. She truly made me feel supported in every aspect of my journey. During labour, she went above and beyond—bringing snacks, offering water and juice, and stepping in seamlessly when my partner was occupied with our other child. In those moments, she was exactly the kind of support I needed: attentive, grounded, and fully present. She also communicated my birth plan clearly to the doctors and nurses and confidently spoke up on my behalf when I wasn’t able to answer questions myself, which allowed me to stay focused and feel cared for. Her postpartum care was just as amazing. She came to my home with thoughtful treats and drinks, and truly took the time to check in on me. Even before the birth, she made sure I had a postpartum plan in place, including meals and self-care, which made a big difference in my recovery and overall experience. I’m so grateful to have had Amber by my side—I felt supported, empowered, and never alone. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

— Rebecca Simpson Avison, review of Amber Stephens April 2026

We can’t recommend Alla enough as a night nanny! From our very first pre-screening call, she gave us instant reassurance that she was the right fit for our family. She is incredibly friendly, calm, and professional, and it was clear how genuinely interested she was in getting to know our family and supporting us as we settled in as a family of four. With a toddler already at home, making this transition smooth for everyone was really important to us, and Alla was so thoughtful and understanding of that. During the night she was absolutely amazing, we trusted her completely with our newborn baby boy. She even handled bottle feeds through the evening so I could recover and my husband could get some rest. Having Alla’s support made those early nights so much easier and more peaceful for our family. We’re so grateful for her help and care. Thank you, Alla!
