The cost of a midwife in Pinellas Park, FL can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Pinellas Park, FL, depends on your specific insurance plan and the midwife's credentials. Many insurance providers offer coverage for midwives, especially if they are licensed or certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) operating within their network. However, coverage may vary for out-of-network midwives or those practicing in non-hospital settings, such as birth centers or home births. It's essential to contact your insurance company directly to confirm whether midwifery services are covered, if pre-authorization is required, and what out-of-pocket costs you might expect.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Pinellas Park, FL, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Hi, I’m Alexa Thode—founder of Ground & Grow Birth Co. and a certified prenatal and labor doula, postpartum and infant care doula, and childbirth educator, serving families across Tampa Bay, Florida. I believe birth is sacred, and no one should have to walk through it alone. With a calm presence, evidence-based knowledge, and intuitive care, I support families through the emotional, physical, and spiritual waves of labor and postpartum. I’m also trained through Tampa General Hospital to assist in the OR and PACU, allowing me to remain a steady support during cesarean births when permitted. My approach is holistic, nurturing, and deeply personal. I offer guidance with comfort measures, birth planning, lactation, newborn care, and postpartum healing—while creating space for families to feel heard, empowered, and supported. Whether you’re planning your first birth or adding another little one to your family, I’m here to help you feel grounded and grow through each step. Let’s connect and explore how I can best support you.

For someone as neurotic as me, Alexa helped make my birthing process sooooo much better. Alexa listened with intention and care, validating every single one of my concerns and quirks with warmth and professionalism. She honored my birth plan with immaculate precision (down to every little detail I had mapped out) and still managed to create a nurturing, peaceful, and empowering space that helped me feel safe, supported, and seen. Alexa brought both calm and confidence into the delivery room. Her presence is so grounding and calm! Which is exactly what I needed (and she knew). I can’t recommend her enough. If you’re looking for someone who blends knowledge with soulful, heart-centered support, Alexa is a perfect doula for you.

Hello I'm Courtney (she/her)! I am a cross trained doula, certified through ProDoula. I am a mom of 6 kids ages 16-4. As a former military spouse, my kids were born in 4 different states! I moved to FL in OCT 2019. My oldest was a traumatic labor and delivery. It was with a provider that I didn't research and everything felt out of my control. It was rushed, medicated, and scary. After that I promised myself to have a better birth next time. All of my other children have been natural births, in the hospital, with a midwife. I decided to become a doula early into 2021 after finding out I was going to be an aunt. I researched and learned and realized that this is my passion. As a doula I offer many forms of support and aid. I am trained in natural pain relief positioning, comforting touch, and breathing techniques. I am an emotional support to ensure that families have a positive birthing experience. I also am a support to your birth partner, whether your birth partner is a spouse, parent, romantic partner, family member, or friend. I help to make sure your birth partner is as involved as you wish them to be. I help you to make informed decisions that work best for you and your birth experience. I believe in informing my clients, not influencing them. I advocate for you! I will help your voice and wishes be heard so you can have the birth that you want and deserve. I want to make sure things are done with your consent and understanding. Whether you choose a hospital, birthing center or home birth, whether you want a medicated or unmedicated birth, a doula is an integral part of your birth. I hope to join you in this special time in your life.
