My name is Smitha Gudapakkam and I am a CAPPA-certified postpartum doula passionate about supporting mothers during one of life's most transformative periods. My doula style is empathetic, observant, and empowering—I'm dedicated to truly seeing mothers and validating their experiences, especially those who feel overlooked or dismissed. There's nothing more rewarding than witnessing that moment when a mother feels truly validated about her struggles and realizes that these postpartum-related challenges can be addressed. I provide comprehensive support for both your physical recovery and mental health journey. Whether you're navigating healing from birth, adjusting to feeding challenges, dealing with sleep deprivation, or working through the emotional shifts that come with new motherhood, I'm here to guide and support you every step of the way. Drawing from my Indian heritage, I bring time-honored nourishing practices and cultural wisdom that nurture both body and mind to complement modern postpartum care. As a mother myself to an incredible daughter who inspires me daily, I understand firsthand the beautiful complexity of early motherhood—the overwhelming love mixed with unexpected challenges, the need for both practical support and emotional validation. My personal journey through postpartum, combined with my professional training, allows me to offer you both the expertise of a certified doula and the understanding of someone who's walked this path. I'm here to help you navigate this amazing journey with confidence, knowing you have someone in your corner who truly gets it.

Hi, my name is Kimberly. I am the manager of Gentle Beginnings LLC. I started my birth doula career back in 2020. I was a new mom and realized I had a passion for doula care and I decided to jump into it! Unfortunately, the pandemic made it quite difficult to attend births in person but that didn't stop me. Over the years, I learned many new families didn't just need a support person through birth but also for all the phases that followed. Currently I'm working towards my pediatric sleep consultant certification. My business partner, Evelyn, has 30+ years of experience as a nanny and newborn care specialist, and has recently been certified as a postpartum doula as well. We both decided it was time to start a new company that offered all the services! We look forward to helping you through any part of your journey as a new family and hope you choose us as your providers!

We are so thankful for Kim and her crew during those early months with our daughter. Even as a second time mom it is so helpful to have an extra set of seasoned eyes on your newborn. Our daughter was dealing with some gas issues. She was able to help us figure out what worked for our daughter. We adjusted her bottle and post feeding routine to help alleviate the gas. I also feel that they help lay the ground work for independent sleep which is such a blessing! We cannot thank them enough for the care they have provided for both of our children. If baby three ever happens, they will be our first call!

Hi! I’m Ashley. I’m a DONA Certified Birth Doula & Advanced VBAC Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, owner of Saltwater Doula, and an educator and agency coordinator at the Relief Doula Agency based out of Relief Parenting Respite and Resource Center in Hampton, NH. I am also the lucky mom of two sweet and salty girls! I offer prenatal, birth, postpartum, and lactation services to families in Portsmouth, Dover, Exeter, Manchester and other areas throughout the seacoast and southern New Hampshire. I provide support for clients of all kinds. This includes clients who wish to go unmedicated or are planning on an epidural, those with scheduled c-sections or who are preparing for a VBAC. I am there for you whether you are planning to birth at a hospital, at home, or at a local birth center. As your birth doula, my goal is to support you (without bias or judgement) in any way you may need throughout your pregnancy, labor, and the delicate days of the 4th trimester. I’m so glad you’ve made your way here and are in search of doula support!

There was no way to know ahead of time how medically complex my birth would end up being, and having Ashley on our team was a huge part of what made such a wild, chaotic, adventurous birth still somehow a wonderful one. It's hard to adequately express how much her support, grounding, kindness, humor, steadfastness, confidence, and care meant to our entire family. I earnestly would not want to experience birth without her. If you're expecting and thinking about getting a doula - DO IT!!! And if you're a NH local and you're looking for the best one around, your search is over because Ashley's it!

Recent review

Working with Tia was one of the best decisions we made for our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. From the very beginning, she brought such wisdom, warmth, and intentionality into every interaction. In our prenatal visits, she patiently walked us through what to expect, explained interventions in a way that felt clear and empowering, and gave my partner practical guidance on how to support me during labor. She also shared so much valuable lactation education that set us up for success once our baby arrived. When the time came for labor, Tia was absolutely incredible. She created such a safe and calming space, offering comfort and encouragement in every moment. She helped my partner feel confident in how to support me both physically and emotionally, and I will forever be grateful for how she helped us walk through that experience together. She was also the best advocate, ensuring that my wishes were honored and that we felt truly cared for and seen. Even after birth, Tia’s support didn’t stop. She has been a steady, compassionate presence—answering questions, easing worries, and guiding us as we step into this new season of parenthood. Her postpartum care has been just as meaningful as her presence at birth. Tia is a gift. She pours love and intentionality into her work in a way that is truly rare, and I can’t imagine having walked through this season without her.

Hi, I'm Carrie-Lee! (I don't have testimonials on Bornbir but you're welcome to check them out on my website and business Facebook page!) Supporting families has always felt like second nature to me, and after raising three incredible kids of my own, I can honestly say there isn't much that surprises me anymore. My oldest is up in Maine working on his off-grid yurt dream. My middle kid is a junior at Keene State fully immersed in theater tech. And my youngest is a vocalist finishing her freshman year at Berklee College of Music in Spain. Every single one of them came in with their own wild, wonderful personality — and raising them is the best thing I've ever done. When I'm not up late with a newborn or navigating a 3am blowout, you'll find me camping, roller skating, gardening, canning, practicing archery, or slowly working my way toward conversational Spanish. I'm laid back, calm under pressure, realistic, and I genuinely love what I do. Hire me and I promise you'll wonder how you ever thought you could do this without me. Let's chat and see if we're a good fit! **Certifications and Credentials:** - CAPPA Certified Lactation Educator - CAPPA Certified Infant and Family Educator - NCTA Trained Newborn Care Specialist - NCTA Trained Postpartum Doula - Certified Postpartum Doula by Lifespan Doulas - PSA Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant - Red Cross Adult and Infant First Aid/CPR/AED Certified - Clean background check available - Professionally insured - Excellent references available 🩷

Carrie-Lee is calm and confident. She supported me and my family when my kids were infant through early preschool age. It was challenging times, mid-pandemic, but she was a constant caring individual who showed up and delivered the support we needed.
