Kiara Thomas

Kiara Thomas

7 years of experience

My name is Kiara Thomas, and I am the Certified Senior Lead Birth and Postpartum Doula and founder of Love How You Heal. I proudly serve families throughout the DFW metropolitan area and Oklahoma, offering compassionate, affirming, and holistic doula care rooted in dignity, advocacy, emotional safety, and education. My journey as a doula began over five years ago through a deep calling to support families during one of life’s most sacred and transformative seasons. I believe birth and the postpartum period are not merely medical events, but profound transitions that deserve to be honored with presence, intention, and respect. I am also a mother of five children, all of whom I birthed naturally. My personal birthing experiences deeply inform my approach to care and reinforce my belief in the body’s innate wisdom. I am passionate about creating spaces where mothers feel safe, supported, and empowered to trust their bodies, their intuition, and their unique journey. At Love How You Heal, we believe wholeheartedly that when the mother is cared for, the baby is cared for. Our doula services are thoughtfully designed to be affordable, flexible, and supportive, meeting families exactly where they are without judgment or pressure. As a birth doula, my services include prenatal education, Lamaze breathing techniques to support natural childbirth, personalized birth plan creation, continuous labor support, physical comfort measures, advocacy, and intentional partner support. My role is to protect the birthing space so a mother feels free to surrender, soften, and allow her body to do exactly what it was designed to do whether at home, a birth center, or in a hospital setting. My care philosophy is deeply rooted in holistic healing. I incorporate practices such as aromatherapy, meditation therapy, sound therapy, and water therapy to promote grounding, relaxation, and emotional regulation. This holistic approach extends beyond birth and into everyday support throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. Postpartum care at Love How You Heal centers on rest, recovery, and emotional well-being. Services include daytime and overnight newborn care, lactation guidance and education, newborn care assistance, emotional check-ins, and nervous system support. As part of our postpartum offerings, mothers may also receive complimentary relaxation-focused therapies such as back, leg, and foot massage to reduce tension, support healing, and promote restoration after birth. I have had the honor of supporting diverse families, including first-time parents, growing families, single parents, and families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. My approach is inclusive, trauma-informed, and affirming, always personalized to each family’s values, needs, and birth preferences. Love How You Heal offers complimentary 30-minute consultations, providing space for mothers and families to ask questions, explore their desires, address concerns, and feel fully informed before committing to care. I believe childbirth can be a positive, empowering, and deeply rewarding experience and that it is simply more time spent with your baby before they take their first breath into the world. It is my honor to walk alongside families with care that honors their strength, resilience, and unique journey into parenthood.

There are truly no words big enough to express how grateful I am for Kiara Thomas with APS and Treichae. During one of the most emotional and vulnerable seasons of my life, they became my village when I had no family or friends in town. They didn’t just provide postpartum and overnight newborn care they showed up with genuine love, compassion, and heart. One of the most touching moments was when they surprised me with a baby shower after my daughter was born. Knowing I had no support system nearby, they went out of their way to make me feel celebrated, seen, and cared for. That alone meant more to me than I can ever fully explain. They were truly on call 24/7, always available to answer my questions, calm my worries, and support me as a new mom. When my baby girl struggled to latch the way I had hoped for breastfeeding, Kiara provided reassurance, education, and emotional support without judgment reminding me that I was doing my best and that my baby was loved and thriving. On top of everything else, Kiara was incredibly understanding of my financial situation and worked with me to make care affordable without ever making me feel uncomfortable or ashamed. That level of compassion and flexibility is rare and deeply appreciated. Kiara and Treichae didn’t just care for my baby they cared for me. I will forever be thankful for the role they played in my postpartum journey and would recommend them to any family looking for support that goes far beyond expectations.

Cadence Busch

Hey there! I’m Cadence Busch — a Christian Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Student Midwife serving families in the DFW and surrounding areas. God put it on my heart to pursue birth work and He has blessed my pursuits while all the more growing my passion for it. In His sovereign timing, I was able to begin my journey of becoming a doula and am now honored to get to participate during this truly sacred time in a mother’s life. I am passionate about teaching women that God has designed their bodies exactly for this purpose and that they are capable, with the help of the Lord, of bringing new life into the world. My desire is that mothers will find their repose and rest in the Lord throughout their entire pregnancy and to experience the profound joy that comes with the birth of a new baby. As I strive to support, educate, and equip couples with the knowledge they need for a calm, positive, and beautiful birth experience, I want to remind them that every step of their birthing journey is in His hands.

I can’t thank Cadence enough for everything she did for us!! I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical about hiring a doula at first, but during our first visit together, I knew the Lord had sent her to me and that she was going to be invaluable. She educated me on so many things and answered all of my many questions! When it came time for my birth, I felt confident and empowered going into it with her by my side. I couldn’t have done it without Cadence! I truly think every woman should be able to have a doula. I would use Cadence again in a heartbeat — and maybe one day we will!!

Jordan Towns

2 years of experience

My name is Jordan Towns and I have served the role as an Emotional Support Coach/Companion for over two decades to women and men encountering a full range of life encounters. It was in Spring 2023 that my journey to become a Doula was initiated and what a journey indeed it has been. Marked by my strong ancestral roots and divine gifting coupled with an experience that allowed me to grow deeper in tune with my body as a woman and what it means to be empowered and supported in my connection to it, I moved to become a Birth Doula and completed my formal training with Doulas of North America International in the “Art of Labor Support.” Now I have the honor of providing continuous, culturally appropriate support, non-medical advice, and physical comfort coaching to women and their partners during pregnancy, the birth ceremony, and the adjustment period after. It is this support that is critical to counter systemic medical racism and socioeconomic barriers that families face. I am currently offering to women who would like to birth at home donation-based services.

Jordan was an absolute amazing support person. She listened to what my wants and needs were. Jordan was open and understanding of my wants and through conversations she recalled details I mentioned. She reassured me as I was going through the labor process and even made me feel extremely comfortable and confident. I honestly can’t say enough about her to describe how amazing she was and how smooth she made the process. Very professional and at the same time humble. I highly recommend her! 100/10

Traci Santangelo

With nearly a decade of experience serving women in the DFW area, BirthPointe stands as a premier women’s health and birth center. Our facility features three exquisitely designed birth suites, and our dedicated certified nurse midwives are here to provide compassionate care. Additionally, we offer monthly educational classes to support and empower women throughout their journey. Traci Santangelo MSN APRN CNM: Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University and started my career working in a local Labor & Delivery Unit. I then married a Yankee (don’t hold it against me), and he moved me to Detroit, Michigan, then to Miami, Florida, and finally to Chicago, Illinois—all for his exciting career. It was at the University of Illinois at Chicago that I received my Master’s in Nursing with a Midwifery designation and developed a deep desire to move back to the Lone Star State. I was tired of being cold! During that time away, I had two children (who have my heart completely), worked in some incredible hospitals as a Labor Nurse, and really developed a desire to serve women. Birth has always been my passion. I love every part of it! From the first positive pregnancy test, to watching a mother hear her baby’s heartbeat for the first time, to hearing that same baby cry at birth—I find all of it exciting and am in constant awe of how perfectly we are made to carry and birth a baby. I am a complete geek when it comes to the physiology of human development and can’t help but talk about developmental milestones because they are fascinating. Why wouldn’t you want to know everything about your baby?! I never tire of it. And I never tire of a woman’s need to feel validated, heard, and respected. You deserve that—you are a woman, for goodness’ sake! It is my great pleasure to serve women such as yourself at this time in your life. I want to give you the very best care I can provide, and I would be honored for the opportunity. Theresa Stryk MSN, APRN, CNM: Theresa grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. She moved to Texas to pursue her Biology degree at the University of Dallas, where she also played volleyball. She received her BSN from Texas Woman’s University and worked in Labor & Delivery at Parkland before getting her Master’s in Nursing from Texas Tech University and becoming a CNM. She is married to her wonderful husband, Logan, and they have two daughters, Julie and Helen. Theresa has had the privilege of previously working in a NaProTechnology office, where she gained valuable insights into the remarkable benefits of Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FABMs) for so many women. Through her experience, she has seen how these methods empower women to understand and manage their reproductive health. At BirthPointe, Theresa is dedicated to continuing her mission of educating others about FABMs, promoting awareness, and supporting women in making informed choices about their fertility.

Julie Davidson

6 years of experience

Hey there! My name is Julie Davidson and I am a professionally certified birth doula, chidlbirth educator, and virtual birth coach. I live in The Colony, TX with my son Elliot, my husband Dennis, and our giant dog Franklin. My love for birth was born during my pregnancy with Elliot. I was always totally scared of labor, but after hiring a doula and diving into my own education and research... my fear turned into faith. As I learned how beautiful pregnancy and birth can be + how different your experience can be if you are educated and informed + how much you really are in control of... it all became less scary. I knew pretty much immediately that I wanted to be a guide and support to other moms on this journey. I have worked dozens of families and seeing them welcome their baby into this world with strength and bravery NEVER gets old. I'd love to support you! Send me a DM, text or email and we'll hop on a free discovery call to see if we'd be a good fit :)

Julie stepped into our lives as an overnight postpartum doula during a stressful season of postpartum recovery. We had medical complications with the birth that required mom to be on modified bedrest and the timeline of healing was unknown. Julie handled the chaos of an unknown recovery and a newborn with grace and understanding. She ensured mom was able to get rest at night, all while keeping baby safe and assisting with light household chores. Julie was/is an essential part of postpartum recovery. We consider her like family.

Vanessa was our doula for all 5 of our children. My husband wasn’t convinced we needed a doula, but after our first was born, he said, “We could not have done that without her!” So she was considered a necessity for the subsequent births. Before birth day, she met with us to discuss our birth plan and goals and how she could help us with that. She taught us what to do for pain management. She involved my husband as much as he wanted/could handle, but she did a significant amount of the pain relief techniques for me. She made sure I was drinking water and always had my cup filled up. She fed me. She reminded me to breathe correctly. She reminded me to “push from your bottom”. She held my hand. She put a cold cloth on my forehead. She knew what I needed when I didn’t. Her presence is calm and kind. For my last birth, my only home birth, she asked in our initial meeting if I had considered catching the baby myself. I told her no, but we decided to discuss what that would look like anyway. The midwife missed that birth. Vanessa made it just in time. I didn’t even know I was pushing, but she knew! She said to my husband,“She’s pushing - we need to get her undressed and in the tub.” She helped me undress and get in the birthing tub and - who knew - I caught my own baby and she was right there with me guiding the process by telling me exactly what to do like we had practiced weeks before. She helped to handle discussing the birth and updates to my midwife on the phone, communicating to us what the midwife needed us to know. She was definitely a source of comfort for all my births, but especially that one! She also does a postpartum visit to check on us and comes full of ideas, contacts, and resources for any postpartum help we need. I cannot recommend her enough. She is such a blessing to our family.
