Adele Pardy Callfas

I’m Adele (she/her), birth and postpartum doula, perinatal educator, Evidence Based Birth Instructor, owner of The Hive Doula Services, RMT, mom to an 18 year old, and born in Ontario but lived in Calgary for almost 21 years. You can find me obsessing over birth photos and placentas, sending birthing videos to my bestie, and dreaming about the birth room. Birth is such a beautiful and empowering moment that we all get to witness. Your birth team should support and honour you, as this is your birth, your body, your baby. As your doula I offer evidence based information and resources. I 100% believe in you and your ability to go through this journey and into parenthood. And will low key throw some throat punches if needed (I’m mostly joking). I truly feel that everyone deserves a doula ♥️. Let’s connect and see if we are a fit.

Looking back, Adele was a pivotal reason that my birth was such a good experience. She provided me and my husband with excellent support during our pre meetings. She was a calm and patient presence as I laboured both at home and at the hospital. She advocated for me to get the right anesthetist for an, originally unplanned, epidural, as I have scoliosis. She took gorgeous photos of the birth that I’ll cherish forever. She provided such tender care during our post-partum home visits. Adele is a joy—and even better she is an immensely knowledgeable joy. She is tranquil magic during the long journey of birth, and I’m so grateful that she helped me bring my baby girl into the world.

Lindsey van der Lee

Welcome - my name is Lindsey, and I'm the doula behind Blue Hazel Birth Services. Supporting people through their birth journey has been a dream of mine for over a decade and I feel blessed to have been living this dream for the past 2 years. I have a deep passion for nurturing and empowering those around me through challenging transitions, and my love of all things birth has combined with this to lead me into a career as a birth doula. I believe that birth is a sacred experience for the birthing family and my role as your birth doula is always to support and empower you through your experience - this means creating and holding space for you, to your level of comfort with the birth experience. It means never overshadowing or replacing the connection that is built between partners during the birth experience - only ever heightening it. I believe that all birthing people and their partners have the right to support through their birth experience, should they desire it. This means that I support both couples and single birthers of all backgrounds without discrimination. No matter where you are on your journey towards birth, you are welcome here. Lindsey was the emotional and physical support that I wish I would have had with my first baby! Birth is an out of this world experience, and Lindsey’s touch and voice brought me back into my body. She was so sweet and nurturing and I felt so well taken care of the whole time. I couldn’t have done it without her.

With expertise in attending both home and hospital births, she holds valuable experience in supporting VBAC, twins, and brings personal insight from her own journey, including home VBAC, infertility, and trauma. In addition to her current doula certifications, Brittney has a passionate focus on VBAC clients. Recognizing the unique needs and desires of mothers seeking a vaginal birth after cesarean, she is currently the only VBAC Certified Doula in the Edmonton area which underscores her commitment to providing specialized support and expertise for women navigating the journey of VBAC. Grounded in her Christian faith and through the power of prayer, Brittney's determination, patience, and a profound emotional struggle ultimately led to the conception of her first child. Facing numerous medical interventions during her cancer battle, Brittney recognized the importance of reclaiming control over her body during childbirth. Despite a first birth ending in a c-section, the overall prenatal, labor, and postpartum experience remained positive, thanks to the support of a wonderful midwife and labor companion. For her second birth, she achieved an empowering home water birth with the assistance of her midwife and doula. Brittney firmly believes in the strength and power of all women to manifest the birth they envision. As a doula, her goal is to provide unwavering support, fostering a peaceful birthing environment that transforms this experience into a moment of empowerment. We are so incredibly grateful to have had Brittney as our doula. From the very beginning, she made us feel comfortable, supported, and confident going into birth. She was incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and reassuring, and always took the time to listen to us, answer our questions, and make sure we felt prepared. Brittney’s support during labour was truly invaluable. She had such a calming presence and knew exactly when to step in with guidance and encouragement or simply give us space. She helped us stay grounded and confident throughout the entire experience, and we always felt like we were in such capable and caring hands. Looking back, I genuinely believe that without Brittney’s support, the outcome of my birth could have been very different. She made such a meaningful difference in helping our birth feel peaceful, supported, and empowering. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to have by our side during such a special and life-changing moment. We wholeheartedly recommend Brittney and will always be so grateful she was part of our birth story. ❤️

Jocelyn Garvey

Since I can remember, I have always found deep love and interest in the perinatal period. My first encounter with pregnancy and birth occurred when I was very young; my mum showed me the 1995 film Nine Months, directed by Chris Columbus, starring Julianne Moore and Hugh Grant, and I was hooked! Essentially, I watched any movie or TV show (that I was aware of) that featured the perinatal period. Some of the shows that I have watched countless times are One Born Every Minute (Channel 4) and Call The Midwife (BBC One). I bring the film and shows up because it is an integral part of the story that led me to become a doula; it kept the spark alive long enough for me to find a way forward into working within the birth and postpartum world. Then, when I went to Mount Royal University to get my Bachelor of Arts degree, it only felt natural to accompany it with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies, so I see myself as a certified feminist (lol). I have always believed that people are entitled to feel empowered during their birth, and with that comes support, which is where I come in. As your doula, it is my job to support you and your birthing team throughout the duration of your birth. I will never make decisions on your behalf or try to influence your choices, but I will support you in making those decisions, and yes, that includes postpartum care. I will hold space for you and your support team, and I will do my best to help you advocate for your wishes. I understand that the perinatal period is a very vulnerable time, and I feel honoured and blessed to be able to accompany you on your journey.
