Christine Scarlett

9 years of experience

Greetings! My name is Christine Scarlett. I am a former pediatric nurse and now a certified birth, sibling, and postpartum doula. I am also a Certified Perinatal Patient Advocate, a Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Educator of Infant Massage, and Gift Registry Advocate. Perhaps my best credential is being the mother of seven adult children and grandmother of many. I have had one cesarean, six VBAC’s, and sadly, one miscarriage. My personal experiences run the gamut of hospital, home, and waterbirth. I have many years of breastfeeding experience and do volunteer work in that field. I homeschooled for many years and still teach in a co-op one morning per week. Other specialties include cloth diapering, babywearing, healthy cooking, and even just laundry services. Contact me for a free interview to see if I can help you meet your unique goals.

We hired Chris Scarlett for the birth of our 7th baby. We were returning to the hospital after home births and I wanted to make sure there was someone who could advocate for my desires in a hospital setting. Chris was everything we could hope for and MORE! She is encyclopedic in her knowledge of birth, breastfeeding, hospital policy, and postpartum health (she is also a postpartum doula). I felt so confident asking her to help educate me on any topic. She came fully prepared to show me all the options available for a wide variety of birth plans. I felt totally free to develop my own birth plan and that she would advocate for my desires. She helped me as my due date approached know what kind of exercises and movements could help get my baby in position and provide relief from undesirable pregnancy symptoms. She helped keep me calm and focused on my desires for this birth when I went 9 days overdue! When I was in active labor, she came to my home and helped me get dressed, pack the car, time contractions etc. Once in the hospital, I was already in transition and almost non-verbal. Chris knew exactly what to do (parking, check-in, making the attending aware of my birth plan, preparing the birth room, preparing the hospital's stool, ball, CUB, bathtub). She is an incredibly clear communicator - firm, but respectful to hospital staff. She was with me and my husband in every contraction, letting him know how he could help me. She suggested position changes, made sure I had adequate hydration and nutrients. Once the baby was delivered, she helped protect my “Golden Hour” based on my desires, helped establish breastfeeding, get clean and changed, and stayed until we were settled in the recovery room. We both recommend her 100%!!!

I cannot recommend Michelle highly enough! She was an absolute rock star during the birth of my baby, who arrived 6 weeks early. Through all the uncertainty and stress, Michelle was there every step of the way to keep the calm and peace, offering unwavering support and reassurance. She was a true rock for my family, ensuring I was taken care of and advocating for me throughout the process—especially during the scarier moments when doctors weren’t explaining things clearly. Michelle stepped in to make sure we understood everything. Her compassionate presence made a world of difference. On top of that, she captured beautiful, meaningful pictures when we first brought our baby home from the NICU. I HIGHLY recommend Michelle for anyone looking for a dedicated, kind, and supportive doula.

Hi everyone! After I became a mom, I realized how much more I wish I had known. I looked back at all sorts of decisions I made in the birth process that affected my experience. My passion now is to enter the journey with others and make sure they have the information and resources that they need to confidently make decisions for themselves. Birth is also a very vulnerable and major transition in life for both the birther and the partner. My role is to provide reassurance and emotional support to both! Helping you create a plan to come as close to your desired birth experience as possible is also on my list of to do’s. You may know what you want it to feel like but you’re not sure how to achieve that. I’m here to help! Whether you’re having a c-section, a med-free birth, a birth with pain medications, a home birth or a hospital birth, I’m happy to support those decisions and make it the best experience possible. I see myself as a gap-filler. What ever seems to be missing for you (physical, emotional, or informational support), I’m there to fill it in.

To Whom It May Concern, We wholeheartedly recommend Megan McLaughlin as a Newborn Care Specialist. Megan was with us for 12 hours a night, for 12 weeks, starting the night we came home from the hospital with our newborn. As the saying goes, it takes a village, and we are grateful that Megan was part of ours. As first-time parents, we were especially grateful for Megan's knowledge and experience. From swaddling techniques to bottle expiration, we learned from her gentle guidance. Megan's expertise was invaluable in helping us establish a routine and gain confidence in our new roles. Megan's duties included cleaning and sanitizing bottles, pacifiers, and pump parts, preparing and feeding bottles, handling baby's laundry, changing diapers, and organizing the nursery. She performed these responsibilities with the love and care we would hope for from a family member. Her meticulous attention to detail and proactive approach ensured that everything was in perfect order, allowing us to focus on bonding with our baby. Beyond her technical skills, Megan's warmth and compassion made a significant impact on our family. We truly looked forward to seeing her every day. Her calm and reassuring presence provided us with much-needed support during a time of transition and adjustment. She not only took excellent care of our daughter but also helped us navigate the challenges of new parenthood with ease and confidence. Megan's dedication and professionalism were evident in every aspect of her work. She was always punctual, reliable, and respectful of our home and routines. Her ability to anticipate our needs and offer solutions before we even realized we needed them was a testament to her experience and commitment to excellence. In summary, Megan McLaughlin played a crucial role in our early days of parenthood. Her professional skills, combined with her compassionate approach, made a significant difference in our lives. We are deeply grateful for her support and cannot recommend her highly enough to any family in need of a Newborn Care Specialist. She is an exceptional individual who will undoubtedly bring the same level of care and dedication to any family she works with.

I have nothing but great things to say about Debra! I was her client during 2024, and had my son in November 2024. I never hired a doula with my oldest so the process was as new to me and I wasn't sure what to expect, but Debra met me where I was at and guided me through the process so it was effortless. She was always available either by text or call and always checked in on me and made sure that I had any information and support I may need! I'm not in contact with my mother so Debra, being and mother and grandmother herself brought the motherly vibes which looking back is something I personally preferred Vs having a doula around my age. She actively listened to my preferences surrounding my birth experience and when the time came she was both respectful and thoughtful of my wishes. She advocated for things I didn't want in the delivery room for me while I was deep in labor. If you want a kind, caring, compassionate, reliable, and loving doula please don't think twice about hiring Debra you will not regret it!

We had such a wonderful experience working with Christine, and I truly don’t think we would have accomplished the birth we wanted without her! From the beginning, I knew I wanted a natural birth, but I was very nervous that I wouldn’t be able to do it. Her experience, especially having had several VBACs herself, was so encouraging and helped me feel confident that my body was capable. She prepared us so well with classes, workbooks, and resources, which made me feel much less anxious going into labor. One of the things I appreciated most was how knowledgeable she was about pregnancy and birth while always allowing us to make our own decisions. She would share the facts and sometimes her opinion, but never in a biased or pushy way. She respected our values and made me feel empowered and confident in our choices. Having a Christian doula was also very important to us, and it meant so much to have someone whose values aligned with ours.My labor ended up being 31 hours, and she was incredibly calm, level-headed, and reassuring throughout. Around 25 hours in, I was questioning everything and asked if I should go to the hospital for an epidural. She gently reminded me of my goals, reassured me that I was safe, and encouraged me to keep going. She helped us feel confident that everything was normal and healthy, allowing us to stay home until we were ready. We arrived at the hospital fully dilated and ready to push! She was also an amazing support for my husband. When he needed to eat or use the bathroom, she stepped in without hesitation and supported me through contractions. Even postpartum, she continued checking in and genuinely cared about how I was doing. Breastfeeding unfortunately did not go well for me, but she continued reaching out and asking how she could help. She is calm, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and compassionate. We are so grateful we chose her and would recommend her!

Rochelle took excellent care of me. Prenatal and postpartum depression settled in and Rochelle was able to provide me resource and encouraging words. During labor she did not allow those doctors to play with me or my baby. My family appreciated her more than she knows.
