I have been a Registered Nurse since 2017 and spent most of my nursing career caring for children and families in a variety of setting. Hi, I'm Sarah and I founded Forever Doula because I think babies are the absolute best (and so are their moms and dads). I am a DONA trained Birth and Postpartum Doula, a Birth and Bereavement Doula through StillBirthDay, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, a Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator, and a Certified Lactation Counselor. Before becoming a doula I worked with children in education, specializing in care for kids with special needs. I absolutely loved my job. This sparked an initial passion in me for children and their care. In 2014 my husband and I found out we were going to have our first baby. So exciting (but also a little scary)! I quickly realized how significant care for mom and baby is during pregnancy, birth and newborn stages. Oftentimes we emphasize the care a baby needs. It’s natural - they’re so small and rely on us for everything. But while their care is so important, we can inadvertently disregard the care moms need as well. It was through my own experience I learned that great care for baby begins with great care for mom. It was that truth that turned my initial spark of passion into a life changing journey. I was hooked. Being a doula has been the most rewarding and satisfying job of my life (besides being a mommy). My research, training, and extended experience has shaped the way I approach doula care: I support informed birth choices and empowerment. In simple terms, I believe all moms should have the support to birth and care for their baby, their way. No pressure and no judgment. I’ve worked with moms who know exactly what they want and need my help to achieve that. I love that! I’m on your team all the way. Other times moms need help figuring out what they want, and I love that too! It allows me to offer them all of the information, research and education I have stored up so they can have that “Aha!” moment when they finally discover which approach resonates with them. It’s such a beautiful thing! I truly believe great care is hinged on great education. I’m extremely passionate about educating mothers to learn what changes are occurring in her body, details about labor and delivery, as well as providing comfort measures to ease her body into birthing her baby. It’s my goal to support you by offering evidence-based information, teaching you how to self advocate for your needs, and being physically present at the delivery, as well as providing continued postpartum care. From the start of my career as a Physician Assistant, I was drawn to pediatrics and the mother-baby dyad. My PA journey kicked off on the pediatric ward at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY, where I was completely captivated by caring for children and families. Then, life brought me to Central NJ, where I had the opportunity to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, caring for some of the tiniest, most vulnerable patients. I became a board-certified lactation consultant and was thrilled to offer lactation consultations and make a real difference for new parents and babies. Bringing together my neonatal and pediatric medical experience with lactation and breastfeeding medicine has been incredibly rewarding! I’m proud to be board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. But I didn’t stop there—I went on to get a Master's in Healthcare Administration from the University of Maryland, and I’ve continued to push myself to learn and grow in every way possible. I’ve trained in advanced bodywork techniques, including craniosacral therapy (CST) through the Upledger Institute and the Barnes Myofascial Release method. I’ve also attended the Oral Habilitation of the Breastfeeding Dyad course three times! Continuing education is a constant for me because I believe there’s always more to learn when it comes to helping families. I have 2 locations, in Edison and Brick, NJ and have focused on creating a collaborative practice which includes other specialists as well. Whether it’s kayaking, biking, or tending to our organic and medicinal garden, my family and I like finding new ways to stay active and connected with nature.

Liz is an Registered Nurse, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) trained body worker who has over 10 years of experience working with newborns and their families. Her unique perspective on family centered care comes from a compilation of knowledge that she gained by working in a Level III NICU, as a postpartum doula, as a lactation consultant and a body worker. Her philosophy is that every family should feel they are thriving, not just surviving, the adjustment to adding a new baby to the family. While a lot of her time is focused on the first three months after delivery, her support can span years as the family unit is ever evolving. Her specialties include oral function, assessment for oral restriction (aka lip/tongue ties), tension release with CFT, post NICU graduates, multiples, and medically complex infants. The most important factors that drive the care you will receive from Liz are 1) what are you goals as a family and 2) what is the root cause of any struggle you are experiencing.
