Birth should not be an abnormal, impossible and scary thing, but rather a natural, beautiful and empowering experience. My name is Claire and I am starting my doula journey. I feel that I have been called to support women during pregnancy and postpartum. I'm outgoing, supportive of your choices as a mother, and a great listener. I am skilled at de-escalating situations in which you may feel panicked or afraid, and explain things in simple terms so that they aren't overwhelming. I will advocate for you in whatever situation you need, whether with a high-pressure medical provider or your nosy mother-in-law. I have worked with children 5 to 18 years old who have mental, physical, and emotional handicaps as well as a multitude of students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. Working with these students has brought me so much joy and understanding of a world that can be very hard to explain to those with no experience in it. I offer the families I work with unique expertise in newborn care, emotional and physical birth parent support, and parental education and family support. My job is to nurture and care for the newborn, the birth parent, and the entire family. As your Newborn Care Specialist, I’ll establish safe and comforting sleep practices, help you develop an easy-to-maintain daily and nightly schedule and routine, and create a system to track feedings, diaper changes, and sleep. I’ll also educate you on any aspects of newborn care you don’t feel confident in, especially for preemies, multiples, and/or medically fragile newborns. For years afterward, I helped to guide my friends through their birth journeys but after my life changing struggles in 2022 I decided, life is short and there is not a minute to waste! So, in 2023 I decided to make it official and get my Birth Doula Certification. I also went ahead and added Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Counselor and Childbirth Educator Certifications to my agenda!
