Hi! I’m Kate. A mama of 4 and a birth doula! I’m from Baltimore MD and work with families doing hospital or home birth!

Recent review

I had the pleasure of working with Kate and her mother Margie during the labor and delivery of my daughter. Kate was my Doula and her mother was my birth photographer. They make one amazing duo! I had planned on a home water birth and unfortunately after 30 hours of unmedicated labor at home it turned into a hospital transfer and then an emergency cesarian surgery. Kate and her mother stayed in contact with me throughout the day when I knew I was in early labor and then got to my home promptly after she received the call that things were quickly progressing. Kate was so knowledgeable on different comfort measures for me during my labor. She was compassionate and extremely supportive during the whole entire experience! She even sent me a lot of information prior to my daughters arrival regarding helpful tips, body positioning and things I could do prior to early labor and through out to help me during every stage. Her mother is so kind, empathetic and takes beautiful pictures! I will cherish the moments she captured for our family forever. Margie even came to the hospital with us and stayed at the hospital not knowing if she would or would not be able to come back in to our room in order to take pictures after my surgery. I could not recommend hiring them more! Thank you both so much for being a part of my birth journey! XX- Alisha Rutherford

There truly aren’t enough words to express how grateful we are for Heather. Hiring her was the best decision we made during pregnancy, and I can’t imagine our birth or postpartum journey without her. I was absolutely terrified of giving birth, but from the moment Heather came into our lives, I felt less alone. When labor began, the greatest comfort I had was knowing she was by my side. I felt completely safe with her. She was my calm, my advocate, and my anchor, helping me through every moment with such compassion and confidence. Her support didn’t end after birth. She continued to care for our family (we call her the "Baby Whisperer" with good reason) during postpartum with the same warmth and encouragement, making us feel supported as we adjusted to life with our daughter. Heather has an incredible gift for making you feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. Because of her, what I feared most became one of the most empowering and beautiful experiences of my life. I will always be grateful for the role she played in bringing our daughter into the world.

Alyssa is a real rockstar!! 🫶🏻 After having a much harder birth and breastfeeding journey the first time, I was honestly so afraid I was going to go through all of that again. Instead, this experience was completely different. She gave me the confidence, education, and support I needed, and it not only helped me heal physically and emotionally, but it also made my breastfeeding journey so much smoother! 🤍 Because of her, I now feel healthy, confident, and ready to get back to doing what I love. I’ll always be so grateful for everything she's done for our family. She has such an incredible gift and so many mamas are blessed because of her! 😌👏💛

I had an amazing experience with this doula service. As a first-time parent, my nerves were all over the place, but they were kind, patient, and very informative throughout the entire process. When my birth plan had to change last minute, they were incredibly accommodating and supportive. I truly appreciated their care and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a doula.

As a mother of five, healer, and birthkeeper, I bring over 22 years of experience caring for infants and young children, starting at age 13 when I cared for my nephew. Dr. Burton has truly been a life saver for me and my family. After two years of trying to convince myself to seek the right kind of care, I finally found her, and I’m so grateful I did. She cared not only for me, but also for my husband and our two children when she was practicing in Indiana. She was my doula for both my very first birth and my last birth, and I couldn’t have imagined having anyone else by my side. Her presence, guidance, and support made all the difference for me and my family during those sacred milestones. Although I was saddened to hear that she was closing her Indiana location and relocating to the DMV area, I completely understand her decision as she continues advancing her education and completing her clinical preceptorship. While she now focuses specifically on Women’s Health and Maternity, I’m happy to know that I can still continue with her as a Telehealth patient. Meeting Dr. Burton in Indiana was a blessing for our household. Her compassion, knowledge, and dedication to holistic care have made a lasting impact on our health and well being. Even though her practice has shifted, I remain grateful that she was part of our journey and look forward to continuing my care with her in this next chapter.

Hi! I'm Jess. I've been a birth doula for over 2 years and have attended 30+ births. I came into this work having a doula myself and am lucky to call her my mentor. My approach is simple: I meet you where you are. I take the time to understand you and your family's priorities for your birth, and I offer as much (or as little!) education as you'd like. Sending along resources and recommendations tailored to what you need, when you need it. Getting ready together I offer a birth planning session where we walk through what to expect in early labor, once you arrive at your place of birth, and the options available to you during admission, pushing, newborn care, and the third stage. Depending on your desires, I can help advocate when something isn't standard practice, and I'll be right there watching for your preferences on the big day. I also offer an in-person prenatal session for you and your partner, where we go over comfort measures and gold-star labor positions (shoutout Spinning Babies!). As your due date gets closer, I help normalize and support those final weeks — encouraging rest, relaxation, and peace as you prepare to meet your baby. On the big day We're busy! I offer plenty of hands-on support — counter pressure, massage, and continued work on positions to help your baby descend. This is all with the support and collaboration of your care team which is important to create a calm, supportive envrionment. Please forgive my lack of a doula website as I have mostly been taking births through an agency. I did attach my womb recording business as I can offer this to my client's free of charge :) I'm so excited for you, and if you've read this far — thank you. I really hope we get to connect. 🤍
