Hi y'all! My name is Kaolin (Mi Cha) Cummins, and I am a multi-doula (certified birth doula, postpartum doula, multiracial, multilingual, 2-spirit, multi-momma, etc.) who primarily serves the Kitsap area, traveling up to 40mi. to the surrounding areas to provide care for QTBIPOC families. I am originally from South Carolina, and grew up all around the south, eventually moving to Kitsap due to the military. I've been here a while, but I'll always call the Carolinas my home. I am passionate about all things related to the cycle of life, from women's health to preconception, conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, life changes, and beyond. I've always had the calling to help others, and have been in caregiving(focused work with children with special needs and the elderly/disabled)/medical-related fields prior to becoming a doula. I realized after my second baby that my calling in life is to be a source of education, positivity, and support for new (and pro) parents through these changes, as one can never have or give too much support. I noticed the lack of QTBIPOC doulas in my area and realized that the lack of representation and access to providers that looked and lived like me was common everywhere, and that just won't do! Outside of being a doula, I am focused on pursuing a career as a CNM (Nurse Midwife) and am determined to mesh the Indigenous & Asian cultural practices I grew up with and the scientific and medicinal knowledge I am currently learning. I hope that in bridging both "worlds", we can foster person-focused care that will assist in creating fewer medical interventions in birth, and also provide exceptional care to parents who need medically necessary care but otherwise would not be able to attain it in other circumstances(i.e., low-income/wage disparity, inaccessibility to a provider of color, and LGBTQ+ conscious medical professionals, etc.). I believe access to information is one of the key players in having a successful birth/parental journey. I strive to create a judgment-free practice, to serve as a provider who assists in these beautiful changes in life. My goal is to leave the world better than I found it and to provide parents/caregivers with the informational and emotional support they need to get through life's events. You don't have to do it alone! Outside of doula work/becoming a midwife, I love spending time with my own little family, and doing anything creative/expressionist! I am a bit of an introvert, but you might catch me on the dance floor if the music's good!

I am certified as a birth doula through DONA and serve women in the Pacific Northwest, specifically Kitsap County and surrounding areas. I do cross the Narrows bridge to hospitals in Tacoma as well. I do take Medicaid clients as well as tricare. Homebirth is near and dear to me and I experienced it for my births as well. It has also been a privilege to support those wanting to VBAC or birth in a hospital space. It’s exciting to learn about and practice Spinning Babies and other support measures to better serve birthing women.

Carol has been my birth doula twice, and her support was invaluable each time. From the prenatal stage—helping me with birth planning, stretching, and essential oils—to the labor itself, she guided with practical knowledge and grace. Her hip squeezes provided significant relief during intense labor, and she was a steadfast advocate for my wishes, helping me achieve lower-intervention births in a hospital setting. Carol is remarkably calm in high-stress moments. After discovering my baby was breech, her specialized knowledge of breech delivery helped inform my decisions, gave me confidence to do what I felt was right for my baby and I, and supported me through to a successful vaginal breech delivery. Compared to my first birth, having Carol as my doula made a huge difference in helping me feel secure, contributing to all-around more positive birth experiences.

I can't recommend Aneke highly enough. Having her by my side was one of the best decisions I made for my birth experience. During labor, she continuously helped position and reposition my body using different techniques to encourage my baby to rotate into a better position and descend. When contractions became most intense, she provided counter-pressure and massage that brought tremendous relief. During the pushing stage, she suggested different pushing positions based on my progress and used warm compresses to help protect my perineum. Her expertise, calm guidance, and constant support played a huge role in helping me achieve a vaginal birth. Most importantly, Aneke is incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. Every time we encountered a challenge during labor or breastfeeding, she always had thoughtful and effective solutions. She never stopped encouraging me, helping me overcome difficult moments, and giving me both the courage to get through childbirth and the confidence to continue my breastfeeding journey.

Kayla was both my birth and postpartum doula and I had an incredible experience with her for both. Before birth she did classes with my husband and I so that we would feel more prepared on things like the labor process and infant care. During these she was incredibly knowledgeable. She had lots of information prepared and also answered any and all questions we had. She clearly put a lot of thought into what information was important to go over and I left feeling much more knowledgeable than before. During my labor experience she was supportive, caring, and knowledgeable every step of the way. I had a very long labor that ended in an unplanned c section and I feel like without her the experience would've felt impossible. She not only supported me but also supported my husband during this experience and he feels strongly that she made our experience so much better by being there. She also was my postpartum doula. I completely trusted her with care of my newborn and she did an amazing job. I tend to be an anxious person but she is someone i feel 100% comfortable around. My daughter loves her and she took great care of her. She also was very knowledgeable and supportive during this time and had many tips that made the postpartum period much easier. I'll always be grateful for her and I would recommend her to anyone.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Marlo! As the owner of a postpartum doula agency, I have had the privilege of working alongside many incredible doulas. But Marlo has constantly stood out as one of my most trusted, dedicated, and exceptional team members! Marlo was the first doula to join my agency after initially providing backup support for me and a family that I was working with. From the moment I met Marlo, I knew that I could trust her and depend on her. Ever since she has been an invaluable part of my team, and my life. Her compassion, reliability, professionalism, and genuine dedication to this work and the families she supports, is unmatched. As a small business owner and Mother myself, it gives me such great peace of mind knowing that the reputation of my business, and the families who trust us are in the best hands with her!

As Marlo’s business partner, we work closely together a lot, and I see firsthand the immense heart, honesty, and professionalism she brings to every single family we serve. I know how deeply our joint families love Marlo and appreciate her care—the previous claim about her being greedy or unprofessional couldn't be further from the truth. We built our practice on transparency, clear contract boundaries, and an ethical backup network to protect parents during an unpredictable season. When severe medical emergencies arise, Marlo always acts with total integrity and clear communication. I am incredibly proud of our work together, fully stand by her character, and am so grateful to have found a partner in her.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Shelby! Her compassion, dedication, knowledge, and genuine passion for supporting families shine through in everything she does. From the preparation for birth to the support provided during those precious and sometimes overwhelming postpartum days, Shelby brings a level of comfort, reassurance, and encouragement that is truly priceless. She creates a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where mothers feel heard, supported, empowered, and cared for. Having someone so knowledgeable, patient, nurturing, and genuinely invested in the well-being of both mom and baby makes all the difference. Shelby doesn’t just provide a service; she provides a meaningful experience and support that families will remember long after those early days have passed. I wholeheartedly recommend Shelby to anyone looking for exceptional birth and postpartum support. Every family deserves someone like her in their corner!
