Hi, I’m Maia! I’m a birth doula based in Los Angeles. My passion for women’s health began early, growing up in a household with three sisters and watching my mom complete her pediatric residency. After studying pre-med at Columbia University, I found my true calling in birthwork, becoming a doula so that I could provide unwavering support to women as they navigate the transformative steps of having a child. My approach is gentle, evidence-based, and rooted in listening. Every pregnancy and birth is unique, and I believe there’s no “right” way to move through the process. If you value both evidence and intuition, I might be the doula for you. I love helping clients combine research and their own instincts to make decisions that are right for them. Furthermore, I might be the doula for you if you want support without an agenda. I don’t believe there’s an ideal way to approach birth or postpartum adjustment. I am a homebirth midwife located in East Los Angeles. My goal for my clients is for them to feel educated in the world of birth, empowered in their experience, and safe with me as their provider. I spent most of my young life in Guangzhou, China where my family cared for orphaned newborns. After high school I found a maternity clinic in the Philippines offering midwifery training and began my journey there. After completing an accelerated program, I moved to California and became licensed with the Medical Board of CA. I worked in birth centers to gain further experience, then stepped fully into my own homebirth practice where my passion lies. I love homebirth. It offers endless opportunity to find personalized ways to care for and build trust with my clients. Homebirth and all the care leading up to it is holistic, it's intimate, and it's completely unique to each person's story.

I graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Biology and Social Welfare and trained as a doula through Cornerstone Doula Trainings. I have always been fascinated and humbled by the birthing process since working at a Maternity Hospital in Nepal many years ago, when I was a medical student in the UK. It revealed to me how essential compassionate support is during this rite of passage. My passion for women's health and childbirth has never waned, and I come with a deep knowledge of the process from working as a family doctor in the UK, then birthing and bringing up my own three children here in the US. I am privileged to work as a birth doula, an advocate in this space, supporting with empathy and calm, helping women to trust their bodies and to achieve a positive birth experience.
