Hi mom to be’s!! I’m Danielle and I am a State Certified Birth Doula and Community Health Worker in the NOVA (Northern Virginia) area. I have been in the healthcare field since I completed my Bachelor of Science at Marymount University where I studied Health Promotion and minored in Public Health. I was concerned during the pandemic about the alarming rates at which black women and women of color were passing away at a time that is supposed to be joyous. With not having kids of my own yet, I would like to put out the good I’d like to receive when my time comes. Educating moms and their partners with welcoming their children and feeling confident to not feel pressured to do anything other than what’s on the birth plan. I started my child care journey as a babysitter 13 years ago. I have worked as a nanny for the last 10 years and as an NCS for the last 6 years. I have looked after children as young as 2 days old to 14 years of age. As an NCS, I have experience working with multiples, preemies, and reflux challenges. I can help with creating a schedule and sleep training. I am also trained as a Postpartum doula.

A New York native turned Maryland transplant, Ro’s journey to becoming a doula was paved by a deep fascination with how people transform throughout life. I would describe myself as a dedicated and passionate birth and postpartum doula with a background in student midwifery and student nursing. I provide prenatal, birth, postpartum and reproductive care for all birthing people and their families in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. I completed my training with Doula Trainings International in February 2026 and I’m currently working towards my certification. In the summer of 2025, I became a mom and was privileged to be able to give birth to my son in the comfort of our home. The powerful experience of laboring in the arms of my partner and my mother, surrounded by an incredible team of midwives left a strong imprint on me. I decided to step into the birth care space because I want all birthing people to have the same level of support my people have done for me, who have kept me held throughout labor and nursed me back through postpartum. I am deeply aware of the inequity and challenges facing many birthing people in the US, especially to our black, brown, indigenous and immigrant families. I also realize that the solution does not lie in asking birthing people and their families to “get more educated” and “find more support”. What we need a system-wide policy change that address core issues: guaranteed paid family leave, affordable childcare, and affordable medical care. This work is inherently political, because too many birthing people have been paying the price with their own bodies and babies. Birth work is my prayer that we all receive the love, care and support we deserve, no matter who we are or where we come from.
