Dez Skalski

I began my doula career in 2021 and have since supported more than 100 families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and the transition into early parenthood. My clients have ranged from young and underserved parents navigating pregnancy with limited support to experienced parents welcoming their third baby. Through my experiences, the work I continually found myself drawn back to is education, especially helping first-time parents make sense of an experience that can feel incredibly overwhelming from the outside. Over the years, that passion has expanded beyond birth support into childbirth education, postpartum care, newborn education, and pediatric sleep.

We worked with Dez as a night nurse when our newborn was just a few weeks old, and we couldn’t have been happier with her care. She was professional, calm, dependable, and incredibly dedicated to helping both our baby and our family. What really made Dez stand out from others we had worked with was her ability to troubleshoot challenges as they came up. She brought a wealth of knowledge and insight, and she was always willing to share practical guidance that helped us better understand our baby’s needs and, ultimately, become a better sleeper. We always felt that our baby was in excellent hands, which gave us the peace of mind we needed during those early weeks/months. We would wholeheartedly recommend Dez to any family looking for a knowledgeable, caring, and trustworthy member of their childcare team!

As first-time parents living in a new state without family or friends nearby, we knew we wanted extra support during pregnancy and birth. We had heard about the benefits of hiring a doula for labor and delivery, but what we didn't realize until we met Jorie was how much support a doula truly provides before, during, and long after birth. Around five months into my pregnancy, we interviewed three doulas to make sure we found someone who was the right fit. We instantly connected with Jorie. Her kindness, communication style, and depth of knowledge immediately put us at ease, and we hired her on the spot. After meeting for coffee, Jorie came to our home to get to know us, meet our dogs, and see us in our own environment. She provided educational resources during our visits and followed up with thoughtful emails so we could continue learning and revisit information whenever we needed it. She helped guide us through creating our birth plan, ensuring we understood all of our options so we could make informed decisions and set realistic expectations for ourselves. One of the greatest gifts Jorie gave us was helping us build our support team beyond our OB-GYN, primary care provider, and pediatrician. She encouraged us to connect with an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), a lymphatic drainage specialist, and a pelvic floor therapist before birth. Those professionals, along with Jorie, became an integral part of our care. Their expertise helped us not only navigate pregnancy but truly thrive throughout postpartum. When it came time for our hospital birth, Jorie was there every step of the way. She carefully documented details from our birth experience and, a few weeks later, met with us to walk through our birth story. That conversation was incredibly healing. She helped fill in gaps from moments we couldn't fully remember, process our experience, and find closure. Having that opportunity allowed us to move into the postpartum chapter with greater confidence and peace. What continues to amaze me is that Jorie's support didn't end there. She has stayed in touch throughout the years, checking in on us and our little boy, who is now turning two. She has become part of our family's story, and we love her dearly. If you're on the fence about hiring a doula, I encourage you to meet Jorie for a cup of coffee and learn more about what she offers. I also encourage you not to let cost be the only factor that keeps you from exploring doula support. Looking back, the guidance, education, advocacy, and care we received before, during, and after birth were some of the most valuable investments we made as new parents. Jorie's impact on our family has been immeasurable, and I cannot recommend her highly enough as both a doula and future IBCLC.

I met Gina TWO weeks before my due date, but she managed to make me feel like she had been there my entire pregnancy. Gina made sure I knew I had options and a CHOICE. My milk didn't come in until 8 days later, which was a true struggle for me mentally. Gina was there every step on the way- teaching me and encouraging me. I am now 3months pp and I use Gina as my google search engine for all things breastfeeding/breastmilk related. Lol. Gina is kind, patient, professional, calm, incredibly knowledgeable, and a true advocate to have in your corner. I would have given up on my breastfeeding journey if it had not been for her! I can't thank her enough for everything she has done and does for me. Gina is someone you need in your corner.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Chelsea. She cared for our daughter, London, for the first three months of her life, and I genuinely don’t know how we would have survived those early months without her. She became such an important part of our family during one of the biggest transitions of our lives. From the very beginning, Chelsea went above and beyond in every possible way. The care she gave London was incredible — she was loving, attentive, patient, knowledgeable, and completely dependable. There is an enormous amount of trust involved in handing your newborn over to someone, and with Chelsea, we never had to think twice. We knew London was safe, loved, and being cared for as if she were her own. What makes Chelsea truly special, though, is that she doesn’t just care for the baby — she cares for the entire family. She constantly checked in on both of us as new parents and genuinely cared about how we were doing physically and emotionally. She once told us how gratifying it was for her to watch us grow into our roles as mom and dad, and that perfectly captures who she is. She wasn’t simply there to do a job; she was invested in our family and in helping us become confident parents. Her support also extended far beyond the terms of her contract. As our time together was coming to an end and we realized we needed additional childcare, Chelsea went out of her way to help us figure out what came next. She helped us find additional care for London, posted on our behalf, helped us search for nannies, made connections, and continued looking out for our family even when there was absolutely nothing in it for her. That level of care and commitment is incredibly rare. Chelsea gave us peace of mind, sleep, reassurance, guidance, and so much support during a time when we desperately needed all of those things. Most importantly, she loved and cared for London so beautifully. If we ever needed her again, I would hire Chelsea in a second. I would trust her completely with London, and there is truly no higher compliment I could give someone. Any family lucky enough to have Chelsea caring for their baby — and for them — will be in exceptional hands. We will forever be grateful that she was part of London’s first few months and such an important part of the beginning of our journey as parents.

Chelsea is amazing as a night nurse. We were lucky to find her and utilize her services for 4 months. She has a super bright personality and amazing presence with the baby that totally put us at ease as parents. She has a deep love for babies and truly enjoys her work. Chelsea became part of family as our time with her progressed. Always on time, professional, sweet and caring. I would highly recommend Chelsea for any night nurse needs.
