I’m Carmen, a Birth-Agnostic doula living in Arlington, TX with my husband and two amazing kiddos. Bringing more compassion, humanity, respect and nurturing to birth work in the U.S. has been a passion of mine since I first began my motherhood journey over ten years ago. Birth is an experience unlike any other in a birth giver’s life, culminating not only in the birth of a brand new life, but also a new version of the birth giver. I am a mother, wife and Army Veteran. I started this company to provide unique, personalized care for newborns, mothers and families. I began my career as a postpartum doula and newborn specialist in 2009, and have since learned a thing or two about navigating this season of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. Over all, I have twenty years of experience in women’s health, postpartum mothers and newborn care. I am uniquely well-rounded as a certified Postpartum Doula, DONA & CAPPA trained in Birth, Newborn Care Specialist, Night Nanny, Texas Breastfeeding Educator, Community Childbirth Educator and Sleep Training and Multiples expertise. I have been a doula since 2016, providing personalized support and care to my clients during their pregnancy, labor and birth! Before becoming a certified Labor Doula, I achieved a Masters degree in Counseling as well as a teaching certificate in elementary education. My educational background and experiences enhance my abilities as a labor doula. I became a doula because while in the military, I was displaced from having a support system. When I got pregnant, I had to give birth in a community that looked nothing like me. I was also wildly uninformed about the rates of maternal morbidity amongst black women. These coupled ideas made me feel really uneasy about my birthing experience. I wanted to make a difference after my experience and becoming a doula turned out to be my life's passion. Hello, I am a certified postpartum doula. I have worked with babies/children since I was 13. I babysat and nannied throughout my teenage years. In college I worked at numerous daycare facilities (newborn-preschool). I earned my bachelors degree from the University of North Texas in early childhood education. I taught for 5 years in 2nd grade and in PE. In 2008 we welcomed our first (of six) baby. I now have 5 boys and a daughter that I homeschool. My youngest is now six and I miss the newborn season!! I recently got my certification to be a nighttime postpartum doula. My goal is to support the new momma (and family) and help them to enjoy and cherish this quick season of having a new baby.
