As a first-time dad, I thought my main job during labor was to not pass out. Turns out, with Savannah by our side, I got to be an actual support system instead of just a nervous wreck holding a granola bar. From the first meeting, Savannah made both of us feel completely at ease. She answered every question, even my ridiculous ones like, “is there a wrong way to hold a leg during pushing?”. She helped us create a birth plan, and more importantly, she made sure we felt confident when things didn’t go exactly according to that plan. When labor started on a Tuesday at 2 AM, she was the first to text back ,faster than my mom, which is saying something. Lol. By Wednesday afternoon, after countless counter-pressure techniques, words of encouragement, and somehow keeping my wife calm through contractions that could bend steel, she was still going strong. I, on the other hand, was running on fumes and hospital vending machine coffee. She even reminded me to eat so I didn’t become the patient instead of the support partner. Then came the magic moment. As my wife was delivering our little one on Wednesday night, Savannah coached me through every step. She knew exactly what we needed even when we didn’t but she always asked before stepping in to make us feel comfortable. This whole experience was a blessing. Soulex the Doula has been incredible in mine and my child’s life. I wanted to leave a shining review but struggled even capturing the positive impact of my time with Soulex the Doula, in words. I really hope I do justice to what this time meant to me. Alexus post-partum doula support was life altering in the most vulnerable time I’ve ever experienced. I’ve had 2 children and only worked with Lex with my first born. Let me just say, her energy was deeply missed the second time around. I live in a different state now but at the time, Lex did SO MUCH. She helped with nursing, even in the middle of the night for my exclusively breast fed baby, she would stay over to make sure I had the most restful night I could. The baby would wake, and Lex would wake pick her up and latch her to my nipple while I rest, leaving me virtually undisturbed. Lex changed night diapers, and would rock my daughter back to sleep while I slept. During the day visits, Lex would take care of baby while I got time for ME. I could shower, get ready, and feel beautiful in such a strange time. Lex gave me support with getting back in connection with my body through movement with dance and stretching practices. I would have NEVER known this was meaningful work, otherwise. Lex also gave a lot of spiritual guidance and support as a medium while I was personally going through the shifts from new motherhood. She would clean my home, help me organize, or rearrange on a whim. It was nothing short of magical, and genuinely felt like I had a little fairy god mother around the house doing things without me even having to think about it - let alone lift a finger. The bond I watched her grow with my daughter at 4 months old was incredibly special. And now, as a 7 year old, they still stay in touch. We love you, Lex and you really feel like a part of the family for life. Thank you for you’re love, your care, your intention, your intuition, and your raw passion for what you do. During labor, Tara's calming presence and practical support made a significant difference. She helped me with breathing techniques, provided comforting massages, and continuously offered words of encouragement. Her ability to anticipate my needs and respond with such care was incredible. It felt like she was reading my mind at times! One moment that stands out is when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed during labor. Tara suggested a change in position and guided me through it, which made a world of difference in my comfort and progress. Her suggestions were always spot-on, and she worked seamlessly with the medical staff to ensure that my birth plan was respected. Postpartum, Tara continued to be a pillar of support. She checked in regularly, offering helpful advice on breastfeeding and newborn care, and was always there to lend an empathetic ear.
