Joann Christensen

Hi there, my name is Joann. I am deeply passionate about birth work and understand that each pregnancy and birth experience is unique. My goal is to provide evidence-informed care that empowers families to make the choices that feel right for them. I am also bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to support families in the language they feel most comfortable with. When I’m not supporting families, I’m busy with my three children and two Frenchton pups. I love connecting with people, sharing knowledge, and helping parents feel confident and supported during this transformative time.

Recent review

Joann was such an incredible support to us throughout pregnancy, labour, and postpartum. Our baby is 6 months old now and when I think of his birth, I remember how amazing it was to have Joann there. I had a planned c-section after a very traumatic delivery with my first, so I knew I wanted a doula by my side, but also to support hubby in case he needed it. Throughout pregnancy, Joann was a cheerleader, always there to talk. When our little guy decided he couldn’t wait until his planned c-section date, Joann pivoted and met us as at the hospital as soon as we needed her. She came with her bag of tricks (lol) to help me through labour (a labour I wasn’t anticipating because of the scheduled c-section), which progressed so quickly, and she was so great at ensuring both myself and hubby were supported where and when we needed. She took beautiful pics too and stayed with us until we were settled in our room. The overnight visits were a game changer, too! We love and appreciate Joann, and couldn’t imagine what the experience would have been like without her! I’ve given birth without a doula, and with a doula - having Joann there was the experience any mama deserves when having a baby <3

Geeta supported our family as an overnight doula during the first few weeks of our daughter’s life, and having her in our home was such a relief and a pleasure. She not only made us feel more confident as parents, but took time to check in on my own recovery in addition to caring for our daughter. She was an absolute pleasure to work with!

Welcome to your next adventure! This addition to your family will be locked in as a core memory forever- so why not make it the most positive experience it can possibly be? As a doula since 2011 with hundreds of families served, I bring experience as a mom of 4 and warm hands to guide the way. Postpartum can be a vulnerable time, and coupled with a huge transition and lack of sleep, sometimes gets off track. That's where I come in. My goals are to meet you where you're at and fill in the gaps. Most often, this means helping baby sleep so you can too! I specialize in breast or bottle feeding support and troubleshooting, multiples, and newborn sleep. I also have years of experience and am comfortable with preemies and NICU babies. My personality is casual, friendly, and warm, and I bring my sense of humor with me everywhere. Clients appreciate my calm nature and positivity, as well as the resources I provide to get them through anything that might arise. I often hear, "I wish I had doula support for my other babies!", and "We got so much more sleep than we would have without you." Let's work together to figure out your needs and how I can best support you.

Sara is incredible! From the initial interview we knew she would be great. She has so much experience and it really shows. She didn’t just help take care of our daughter at night, she basically sleep trained her and helped us set up a day time schedule so her nights would be super easy and chill. In less than a month, our daughter is sleeping incredibly with just 2 super quick feeds. She is loving, caring, trustworthy, and reliable! Couldn’t recommend enough. Sara can share my contact if you want to reach out and discuss!

I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Lactation educator and Certified Hypnobirthing educator serving Lancaster, York and Harrisburg areas in Pennsylvania. To me, Birth is the most sacred event in nature. And my goal is to empower every birthing person have the birth they desire. I am here to provide emotional, physical and informational support but I am also here to coach the birthing person to see the value and strength they have to do it their intended way. I see it as my utmost privilege to serve the birthing community.

Recent review

We are so thankful to have found Madhu going into my second pregnancy. I was looking for support and encouragement as I prepared mentally for VBAC, and I really felt aligned with how Madhu presented her methods. Leading up to delivery, Madhu instructed me on very specific exercises, movement, stretches, and breath work to optimize my posture and calm my nervous system. We met in-person and practiced these moves together to better prepare my husband and I for labor and delivery. As my due date approached, Madhu kept in touch and maintained such a supportive presence, reminding me that things will happen naturally, and to give my body the time and space it needed for spontaneous labor. I found that her simple and steady communication at this point in my pregnancy had the most value. Her support kept me from doubting myself and allowed me to establish the right mindset. Because I had a C-section with my first pregnancy, I didn’t know what to expect with labor pains or even the onset of spontaneous labor as I was previously induced with pitocin and felt quick intense pain. This time around, my water spontaneously broke (at 40 weeks + 5 days) and contractions started soon after. Madhu met my husband and I at the hospital and immediately went into action by helping me work through positions to manage the discomfort. Keeping an open mind and knowing my experience could still result in another C-section, I really felt comfortable having my support systems in place which ultimately helped my mindset along the way. I truly believe I was able to consequently push through some difficult labor pains. Ultimately I ended up having the birth that I wished for, and I’m so thankful for taking each contraction as a moment to work through! Thank you Madhu!

As a wife, mom of three, and certified full spectrum doula, my mission is to ensure that every parent and parent-to-be feels empowered, nurtured, and fully supported as they navigate this beautiful transition. My journey into the world of doula work began with a passion to make a positive impact on the birth and postpartum experiences of new families. Bailey was my doula through Blooming Families! She was wonderful throughout my pregnancy and birth. I was happily surprised that her services were covered by my insurance. Bailey helped me know what to expect for birth and helped me made educated decisions in regard to my birth plan. She attended my birth (despite it begins 3.5 weeks early). Throughout my birth she helped advocate for my wishes and encouraged my husband in ways he could best support me! She also checked in with me postpartum. I am so grateful for her support and recommend her services, especially for first time moms!

Hello! My name is Lindsay. I'm a certified birth and traditional postpartum doula in Utah County and have been supporting families since 2017. I believe pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood are physical events, and also deeply emotional and spiritual ones—a great becoming. Because of this, my work is mother-centered, and blanketed in ritual and ceremony. You deserve to be held and witnessed. When I'm not working with postpartum families, you'll find me spending time with my three children, dreaming about traveling the world, and singing and knitting with my community.

Recent review

We’ve been lucky to have Lindsay as our birth doula for all three of our kids, and most recently as a postpartum doula. I had a hard time understanding why I’d want a postpartum doula with my first two births, but I’m SO glad I went for it this time around! Having Lindsay come over was a highlight of those first few weeks. She came with her arms full of food, teas, cozy cushions, sound bath instruments, etc. Each week she’d bring food that I picked from the menu (all of it was so delicious and nourishing), and would guide me thru whatever session I had chosen (sound bath, gentle movement/stretching, guided meditation, closing of the bones ceremony). She has a very calming energy about her and I just feel at peace when she’s around. She helped around the house while she was here like washing the dishes, sorting and folding laundry, things that pile up in the busy-ness of having a newborn. She is truly a delight to work with and I’m forever grateful that she was here for us during the most important events of our lives.

I am so thankful that a close friend of mine recommended Veronica Hinojosa-Stang and Baby Nurse & Doula Services to me as my postpartum doula and newborn night nurse for my twin babies. My friend had twins 10 years ago, and Veronica provided her with the same care and attention that she gave to me and my newborn twins, who were born at 36 weeks. I am a single mother and first-time parent, and I feel so fortunate to have had Veronica and her colleague care for my twin girls from birth through their first 11 weeks. Caring for newborn twins is no small feat, especially when both babies are fussy or crying at the same time, and Veronica was a tremendous help during such an important and demanding time. Every night, she made sure all the bottles were washed, formula was mixed and ready for the next day, clean baby laundry was folded and put away, and other essential supplies were replenished. Veronica also provided me with a great list of baby-care items that she finds indispensable. I used almost all of her suggestions, and they were all incredibly helpful. She was caring, dependable, and attentive to the girls' needs, helping me, my mom, and other family members staying with me navigate those early weeks with greater confidence and peace of mind. I chose to sleep through the night while Veronica cared for my babies, and she handled them beautifully. I almost never heard them cry during the night. When I extended my contract, Veronica also provided a wonderful backup night nurse from her professional team who continued the same level of care for my babies. Her support made a real difference to my mental and physical well-being, and I am incredibly grateful for the care she gave my girls. I would happily recommend Veronica Hinojosa-Stang and Baby Nurse & Doula Services to any family looking for a loving, reliable, and experienced newborn night nurse, especially families welcoming twins or multiples.

Hello, I’m Lauren- a mother to two daughters and a holistic labor + traditional postpartum doula with an education focused on the Ayurvedic philosophy. I view pregnancy, birth, and the process of becoming a mother as not only a physical event; but a spiritual experience as well. In your most sacred spaces, I act as a gentle guide +space holder in pregnancy, labor, postpartum and beyond. Supporting mothers/families during their greatest transitions, and weaving in ritual+cereomy as a means to support and honor these initiations and grand transitions is a passion of mine. It is through my own difficult experiences with child birth and the Matrescence time, that I feel deeply called to give other mothers/families what I did not receive. It takes a village to raise a mother. None of us were meant to do this alone, nor should we have to!

Recent review

I truly cannot put into words how grateful we are for Lauren. She was everything we could have hoped for in a birth doula and so much more. I genuinely cannot imagine our birth experience without her! Lauren has the most incredible balance of knowledge, warmth, compassion, and intuition. She knew exactly when to guide us, when to offer reassurance, and when to simply be present. She empowered us to make our own decisions while somehow knowing what we needed before we even realized it ourselves. When labor began in the early morning hours, she immediately made herself available. I’ll never forget the shift in the hospital room when she arrived. After spending just an hour there without her, her presence brought an immediate sense of calm, confidence, and comfort for both my husband and me. As someone who was genuinely nervous about childbirth, I never imagined I would describe labor and delivery as one of the most beautiful and empowering experiences of my life. But that’s exactly what it was and I wholeheartedly believe Lauren was an enormous reason why. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat if I knew Lauren would be by our side. She will forever hold such a special place in our hearts and our daughter’s birth story. Choosing her was one of the best decisions we made and we cannot recommend her enough!

Liz is a Birth Becomes You Certified Birth Photographer and will soon be certified as a Hypnobirthing Educator (HBCE) in summer 2026. She supports clients from the onset of pregnancy all the way through postpartum, offering sage wisdom & sisterly kinship to every woman she serves.

Our experience with Liz was truly wonderful! With Liz, you will feel safe, heard, & held through one of the most important moments of your life. When we initially spoke, it was probably 2 minutes into the conversation when we knew she was the right doula. The call ended, my husband & I looked at each other & immediately said, "I LOVED her." Liz laid out everything that we should expect, & did it in a way where we didn't feel judged. Others had tried to convince us that we had unresolved trauma, or had made mistakes in previous births. Liz's trust in us knowing what we needed was so reassuring. During the pregnancy, Liz is there if you need her, checking in to see how appts. went, & getting a feel for your mindset approaching birth. Liz was vital in my ability to remain calm as my due date came, then passed by 9 days! We discussd ways to help encourage labor, different scenarios as 42 weeks approached, & reassurances that my baby & body knew what they were doing. Being a 3rd time mom I really thought I knew it all, but when things went so much longer than we all expected, I was so grateful to have Liz's calm & confident presence. At OBC, Liz arrived exactly when I needed her. She easily fit into the flow of labor offering assistance to me, & guiding my husband to help through contractions. Liz understands when to step to the forefront, & also when to hang back. Her experience & presence in the birthing space made me feel more supported & calm than I had previously. My labor was fast, but I never felt like I lost control. Liz took stunning photos during birth, capturing all of the phases of labor, recovery, & beautiful shots of the baby. The photos will be cherished by our family for the rest of our lives! Liz doesn't disappear after you're done having the baby. She checks in during your recovery at home, & even comes to visit. We loved working with Liz!

I am a full-spectrum doula, offering support in reproductive health, birth and labor, and postpartum care in Connecticut and Rhode Island. I love doula work because I deeply value the one-to-one relationships I build with clients, walking alongside them during one of the most important and transformative experiences of their lives. My passion for supporting, educating, and empowering people giving birth comes from my commitment to addressing the maternal and infant health disparities that disproportionately affect Black women. My goal is to help all birthing people—especially Black women—feel confident, informed, and supported by: learning to trust their bodies, learning to trust themselves to make informed decisions and advocate for the birth experience they desire, and receiving culturally responsive, non-clinical emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth. It would be an honor to support you on your birth journey. I work collaboratively with you and your support team to create an experience where you feel confident, informed, and surrounded by care, love, and respect. Hi! My name is Stephanie and I am a Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Birth Story Listener. I felt called to work with birth as a young adult, and love helping folks prepare for and navigate their birth journeys, as well as their relationship to their birth stories. My goal is to help birthing people find an empowered way through whatever comes up for them, and for them to feel supported and seen throughout the process. I also enjoy homeschooling my kids, teaching theater classes, singing in my community choir, and working for a local organic farm at the farmers market in Claremont!

Recent review

I worked with Stephanie prenatally, during labor/delivery, and postpartum too. She was wonderful to work with, a great listener, guided me and my husband well through what we could expect with having our first child, supported me through my various anxieties, and really showed up for us during labor. She was a vital advocate for me while I was at the hospital. She is knowledgable about Spinning Babies (and has received their training), did a visualization exercise with my husband and I in thinking about the unknowns of parenthood and embracing all that was to come, and she was ready and prepared to support us when she came to the hospital. She supported me emotionally and physically through early labor and all the various interventions that became necessary because I was not dilating and my labor was not progressing. Loved working with Stephanie and would recommend her to anyone for support during the birth or new mom phase of life.

I have been so lucky to hire Melissa twice as a doula now and I could not recommend her services enough. She is a wonderful advocate for mothers and truly listened to what I needed. She gave me the space to think about what my needs might be and I don’t think I would have known without her there to ask those questions. She helped prep our whole family in a way where I felt so well cared for. For both of the births Melissa was there for, as soon as she walked in I felt a huge sigh of relief. She was there and she had me and my back and I fully trusted her to guide me. We were also fortunate enough to hire her postpartum doulas! We had the pleasure of working with Veronica, Danielle and Bernadette. Everyone brought different outstanding qualities that were a total joy to experience. They went above and beyond to learn about our families needs and fit right in. I trusted all of them with my postpartum care, cooking meals, giving my husband a break and endless sibling entertainment for my bigger kids so I could snuggle in bed with our new baby. I felt so well supported my body was able to heal physically and I could emotionally take space when needed. There was always round the clock care and they were quick to fill our schedule when I quickly realized I needed more support than I had initially intended. I wish all mothers could experience this kind of care.

Ongoing education is important for practitioners in all fields. Jill attends conferences across Canada and online to deepen her knowledge and skill sets. She also teaches her own courses to birth professionals around the country.

Recent review

Jill was a truly remarkable birth and postpartum doula, and the best support we could have asked for through pregnancy, labour, and the early postpartum period. From the start, Jill helped us feel genuinely prepared and confident. Her prenatal support was thoughtful and tailored to our specific plans and preferences, covering everything from labour expectations to newborn care and infant CPR. It felt like a private, customized baby prep course, and because of her guidance, we didn’t feel the need to take any additional classes. During labour, Jill’s presence was exactly right. She gave us space when appropriate but was immediately there when needed. When our labour didn’t unfold as anticipated, she was a calm, steady presence who helped us think through options clearly and confidently during a stressful and unpredictable experience. Postpartum, Jill has continued to be an invaluable resource. She's supported us through the emotional and physical ups and downs of early parenthood with practical advice, reassurance, and effective techniques for settling our little guy. Jill is more expensive than some other doulas—and rightly so. Her experience, time commitment, and depth of care are exceptional. We felt we received incredible value, and it was without question the best investment we made to support ourselves through this major life transition. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Hi there! I’m Maria, a Certified Newborn Care Specialist with over 11 years of experience supporting newborns and their families. I’m also a Certified Postpartum Doula, Sleep Consultant, and Certified Lactation Educator Counselor. I specialize in overnight newborn care, safe sleep, healthy sleep foundations, feeding support, soothing, and age-appropriate routines. My goal is to provide knowledgeable, nurturing care while helping parents get the rest and confidence they need. I am Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified, TrustLine registered, fully immunized, and available throughout Los Angeles County. References and my resume are available upon request. I would love the opportunity to support your family during your baby’s first weeks and months.

Recent review

We had such a great experience working with Maria. My baby started going through the 4-month sleep regression early, and by the time he was only 3.5 months old, his sleep was completely disrupted (awake every hour or so). I also have a toddler at home, so the disrupted nights were becoming really hard to manage and I knew I needed help. What I loved about working with Maria was that she didn’t just give me a sleep plan and send me off to implement it while already exhausted. She came to our home overnight and actually did the work with my baby while I slept. She learned his patterns, figured out what worked for him, and handled his wake-ups, while also teaching me exactly what she was doing and why so that I could confidently take over afterward. Her approach felt very personalized to my baby and our family rather than a generic sleep-training program. The results were incredible. After just two nights, my baby was sleeping through the night. It is now several weeks later, and he still consistently sleeps from bedtime until morning and, if he does briefly wake, he is able to settle himself back to sleep. Having Maria physically there doing the difficult part while I was able to get some much-needed sleep was invaluable. If you are exhausted and struggling with your baby’s sleep, you really do not have to figure it all out by yourself. Maria took an enormous weight off my shoulders, and I would absolutely recommend her.

"Most of us did not learn when we were young that our capacity to be self-loving would be shaped by the work we do and whether that work enhances our well-being." – bell hooks. This is a quote that has stuck with me as I explore my career path. Becoming a doula is something I did not follow through with until the murder of George Floyd. Seeing the striking images of pregnant Black mothers protesting around the country ignited the fire in me to finally complete my training to become a certified perinatal educator - meaning I can provide childbirth education, prenatal support, labor and delivery support, lactation support, and newborn care support. But my calling to birth work started on the day I was born with my mother being hospitalized for 2 months postpartum from an avoidable mistake during an emergency c-section. I value empathy, collaboration, and being open minded. As a doula, I am intentional about serving my clients in a way that supports self-empowerment, so they feel they have all the information they feel they need to make the best decision for them and their baby/babies. I do not shy away from vulnerability, and I believe this allows me to have relationships with my clients built on trust.

Tricia was a helpful, knowledgeable face from the very first call we had with her during my pregnancy. She provided us with great resources through the pregnancy and was amazing during the labor process. A handful of things about my labor didn’t go the way I had wanted or had planned but having her by my side meant everything to both my husband and I. We felt safe having her by our side advocating for us and making sure I remained safe through the process of everything. We highly recommend Tricia and are so thankful for her impact during the pregnancy and birth.

I support families through the deeply transformative journey of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Guided by the Haven Circle’s core pillars of connection, continuity, restoration, and community care, my approach blends holistic healing with evidence-informed practices to create a grounded and nurturing experience for every family. I specialize in providing intentionally curated labor, birth, and postpartum support that honors both traditional wisdom and modern perinatal needs. My work bridges the gap between these worlds ensuring families feel truly held, informed, and empowered as they step into parenthood. Through Maternal Haven, I offer care that is restorative, culturally mindful, and deeply personalized. Because your journey deserves a circle of support that evolves with you, every step of the way. The Values That Shape My Work: I’m a first-generation Latina raised in a multigenerational household where caregiving was shared, community was central, and support was collective rather than individual. I grew up with a deep understanding of the “village”, mutual aid, interdependence, and emotional presence as foundational to well-being. Those early values shaped my path into caregiving. I began my work supporting families as a nanny during children’s most formative years, and later transitioned into birth and postpartum doula care, childbirth education, and mentorship for emerging doulas. Across each role, one belief has remained constant: meaningful support is built through continuity, not urgency. How I Support Families: My approach sits at the intersection of emotional wellness, cultural humility, and practical guidance. I honor ancestral knowledge while also supporting families as they navigate modern perinatal systems and healthcare structures. Through Maternal Haven, I offer support that evolves as families’ needs change, providing steadiness across pregnancy, birth, and postpartum rather than isolated moments of care. A Circle of Care That Grows With You: Whether I’m facilitating a prenatal session, supporting someone through labor, or offering quiet presence during postpartum recovery, my intention remains the same: to help families feel informed, supported, and confident as they step into parenthood. Your journey deserves care that is thoughtful, restorative, and personal. Care that adapts as you do. Care that walks with you, every step of the way.

I have a difficult time finding the right doula for me and i was losing hope, until i was matched with Andrea and i felt like i had a huge relief. My pregnancy was full of ups and downs but Andrea made sure from the start that she was fully by my side and never made me feel alone. Her empathy and comprehension was something that i was definitely looking for in a doula because in my first pregnancy i felt unheard and put to the side while i was in labor with my first daughter. This time around anytime i had any fears or doubts Andrea was always quick to be comforting and supportive with her words. She is such a sweet and special person to me who i will always cherish because she is one of a kind. Durning my labor with my second daughter when it was calm she made everything so peaceful, even when things changed and the energy shifted and i was scared because my body went into fetal ejection reflex and pushed my daughter out at 7cm Andrea never stopped caring for me and going above and beyond to support me and help me ease my anxiety. She also saved my sanity and gave me peace doing overnights and taking care of my newborn while i recovered from my birth. Words cant describe how grateful i am for Andrea she is the best doula out there.

Hi! My name is Amanda. I’m a mom of four and a postpartum doula, and I truly love what I do. I love taking care of babies, supporting families, and especially helping new moms feel more confident and enjoy motherhood in a lighter, more peaceful way. I know that having a baby can be beautiful, but it can also be overwhelming, especially in the beginning. My goal is to make this season a little easier for every family I work with. I provide newborn care, overnight support, and guidance with feeding and baby routines, always respecting each family’s needs and preferences. I want moms to feel supported, get some much-needed rest, and know that they don’t have to figure everything out alone. For me, being a doula is not just about caring for the baby, but also making sure mom feels cared for, too. ❤️

This isn’t a review, but a thank-you. We had gone days without sleep, and Amanda agreed to support us with our baby, who was already 3 weeks old. Thank you, Amanda, because you brought calm and clarity into our home. As first-time parents, we felt lost and terrified, which left us stressed and anxious. You went above and beyond your job. You folded laundry so many times, without us even asking, that's mean a lot for us. You cared for my wife as if she were your own sister, helping her feel calm and confident in her journey into motherhood. Your diagnosis of tongue-tie was incredibly accurate. We can honestly divide our breastfeeding journey and our experience as parents into two chapters: before you and after you. Thank you so much for giving us far more than we ever expected.
