After watching all of the beautiful and peaceful homebirths I was very disappointed that I was advised to go to the hospital due to my son being measured too small during my third trimester. After spending a night there I got very nervous and anxious and didn't quite know how it was all going to work out, as I was hell-bent on wanting a natural birth without being pushed by the Gynaecologist to induce my contractions. And in walks the lovely Chelsea...a clinical doula, something I knew existed (a doula) just not provided as a service in the hospital! Chelsea and I instantly connected and with her soft and sweet voice she helped me with breathing exercises, taking my mind away from the intense extractions. She even brought her own natural coconut oil with which she massaged all the areas that hurt or simply needed the pressure. She also spoke with the Gynaecologist and reassured my contractions we're coming every 10/5 minutes or so, which gave us the opportunity to initiate my labour naturally. I heard lots of horrible birth stories, especially those in hospitals, but I can honestly say I had an absolute wonderful birth thanks to Chelsea. Truly a gift from above to may have had you there with me. Both my partner and mother still ask about her and would love to see her again. We are eternally grateful for her and wish her all the best!

Bethany Justice

Bethany Justice

2 years of experience

My background as an RN in both critical care and medical oncology largely involved walking alongside patients facing the end of life. These experiences sparked a deep passion in me to see that individuals are given a chance at the healthiest possible life - from the very start! This led me to complete Birth and Postpartum Doula Training through DONA International, as well as Lamaze Childbirth Educator training, so I could better support families from pre-conception all the way through the “fourth trimester” of postpartum. I believe these professional experiences, along with my personal journey as a mother of three—with births in both hospital and freestanding birth center settings—have uniquely equipped me to support families during the most vulnerable and powerful moments of becoming a parent. It's my honor to be a part of your unfolding birth journey! A Missouri native, my husband and I lived in several Midwestern cities before putting down roots on the family farm where he was raised. I am enamored by the earthiness of birth, whether it's a human's or a heifer's. I love slow mornings with my people, making nourishing foods and home goods with my hands, and reading about the juncture of bodies and souls under a giant quilt.

Cassi Larson

Hello! I am Cassi- the doula behind Wise Womb Doula Care. My journey into birth work started with my own path into motherhood, and it has become my greatest passion to support families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I believe every birth is unique and every family deserves personalized, gentle care. My goal is to help you feel informed, empowered, and truly supported as you step into this new chapter.

Recent review

My experience with Cassi was incredible! My first contact with her was when I was already around 30 weeks pregnant (if I’m not mistaken, haha), and she was extremely attentive from the very beginning. I had interviewed a few other professionals beforehand, and I believe that an important part of hiring a doula is connecting with the person. I felt that connection with Cassi from the very first moment, even though we had only met virtually during our initial interview. She demonstrated complete knowledge of the support that my husband and I were looking for, and that made me feel confident in hiring her. At around 36 weeks, we had our prenatal visit, and once again Cassi showed extensive knowledge of exercises that would be essential for labor preparation. She explained various positions and massage techniques that my husband and I could use during early labor and also left us with materials to follow. In addition, she remained on call from that moment on in case our little girl decided to arrive. During the birth, Cassi was essential in helping everything happen in a calm and safe way. Of course, as often happens, my birth "plan" did not go exactly as expected, but rather as it needed to happen. Having Cassi by our side during that time was undoubtedly very important and one of the best decisions we could have made. I wholeheartedly recommend her and hope that many women have the privilege of meeting her and having her support during such a special moment. Thank you so much, Cassi, for your support in welcoming our baby girl! I hope to see you again at future births. We wish you every success!

Tressie Casey

4 years of experience

My name is Tressie Casey, I’m a proud wife and homeschooling mother of three beautiful children, and of course a birth nerd. As a dedicated doula I’m committed to supporting families through the transformative journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My mission is to create a safe, empowering, and nurturing space where parents feel informed, respected, and confident in their choices. As a doula, I offer personalized care tailored to meet your unique needs and preferences. I bring not only professional training but also deep compassion and a listening ear, ensuring you feel truly seen and heard every step of the way. Whether through birth preparation, hands-on labor support, or gentle postpartum care, I strive to empower you and your family through this life-changing experience. My passion for this work stems from my own experiences. My first two babies entered the world in quite traumatic experiences, following severe postpartum depression and lactation issues. I remember thinking to myself “I don’t want anyone else going through this alone”. I quickly became the lady that friends and family called when they needed help or had questions. I had no idea what a doula was until someone sent me a thank you card one time that said “Thank you for being my doula”. This word really got me. I had no clue what that was. I decided to look it up and to my surprise I found it originated from Greece and means “to serve or mother the mother”. I instantly fell in love with that and realized that it was my calling. I hardly ever hold babies because they are in the safest place in the world, their mother’s arms. I always hold the mother though because just like her baby, she was just born too.

Hire Tressie. She is the best. She cares so deeply about each one of her clients. She went above and beyond for me and I know she will do the same for you.

“Hi, I'm Melissa Brown! I am 38 years old and I was initiated into motherhood 16 years ago when I gave birth to my son, Zane. We have two female cats; Poppi radiant in gold fur and sleek baby Ami in black! I am a trained Doula, certified professional Cosmetologist and Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT 200). I primarily value well & wise authenticity, integrity, vulnerability, boundaries and connection between human beings and I love to foster these experiences. “What is a Doula? My main roles as a multidisciplinary doula is to offer emotional support and empowerment during the event of your child’s birth. Why should I choose you? As somebody who is both a mother as well as a woman who died for 12 hours and miraculously revivified without intervention, I am first and foremost experientially well qualified to understand this work in body, mind and spirit. I have received official certification for this work through Birth & Beyond KC. I can say with conviction that I am nourished by being chosen to offer my compassionate, non-judgmental presence during life’s most tender thresholds. My intention is to hold space for you with reverence, presence, and deep respect, so that you do not have to navigate these moments alone.

I feel so lucky to have had Melissa during labor. It was our first birth, and was a long + difficult labor as our son was not in an optimal position. Had it not been for the amazing support I had, I truly believe my labor would have felt very traumatic. Instead, I vividly remember how comforting and dedicated Melissa was through the night and into the morning. Her support made such a difference when I look back on the labor. I would highly recommend her to all parents!

I own and operate a birthing practice in Missouri and Kansas. My birthing practice is named My Ancient Birthing to commemorate my love for my God and also to embody and recognize ancient birthing practices. I am also an activist for the fair treatment of minorities; therefore, my practice serves as a pillar in supporting this paradigm. I am an ante, intra and postpartum doula AND midwife, a fertility and birth practitioner through DONA and I specialize in small surgical circumcision(s), lactation coaching and maternal fitness. I have a plethora of accomplishments through my work in My Ancient Birthing, but among the greatest achievement was being interviewed by the Voyage Magazine on March 5, 2026. I was able to introduce my birthing practice to people who are not privy to it and be a reminder for those who were already aware. I look forward to speaking with you soon!

I would like to start by saying I am extremely pleased with the work provided by Ahyashah! She was my midwife and doula. She is DONA certified which is a HUGE plus! She is very knowledgeable in this line of work. She was willing to answer any and every question that I had and if there was something she wanted to confirm, she did her research and got back to my husband and I. She is very soft spoken, sweet, kind and knowledgeable. I know I said knowledgeable already but once you hire her, you will understand why I am expressing this more than once. My husband pointed out that he appreciated how she also ensured his understanding, not leaving him out of the loop like the doctors did in our first birth. We had a water birth. Ahyashah was there every step of the way! I was delighted to have her on my team and will definitely book again, if we have another baby! Thank you so very much Ahyashah!

The service that I looked over and read about is exactly what I recieved! She took her time explaining things to me wether it was options in health care or what things I could eat to better my health and also things high in nutrients that are needed for me and baby. She was super helpful with assisting me ensure all my questions and some I didnt think to ask were asked while at the doctor appointments. She helped me figure out a successful birth plan and sent me information (videos, articles, slideshows) as well to help me better understand why a birth plan is so important. Overall will definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and helpful doula.

If your on the fence about getting a Doula for your birth I 100% recommend Taylor. I was having a hard time finding a doula and was honestly ready to give up. When Taylor reached out to me I already gave up hope on having a doula. I decided to give the doula dream one more try and I'm so happy that I did! Taylor was super friendly and made the process very easy. She was there for all my questions and was super supportive. By the time it was time to give birth she already felt like a sister. She was super supportive and helped ease my fear of going into labor. Then going into labor she was there every second for me. Very selfless, encouraging and wise. I know I could of had this baby without her but... In my mind there is no way I could of done it without her. I'm pretty sure she's one of the reasons my labor went so fast. Definitely will be texting Taylor two pink lines in the future if I'm ever blessed again. I wouldn't want to go into labor with out her and you shouldn't either.♥️

Sara McAdoo

Sara McAdoo

Hi! I’m Sara McAdoo and I am a certified birth doula and a prenatal yoga instructor in the Kansas City area and am passionate about families honoring God in their births. I am a wife, mother to 4 amazing young kids, homeschooler, avid baker, budding herbalist, gardener, bzzzy beekeeper, and backyard chicken keeper. I create herbal teas specifically for the pregnant and postpartum mama (Gen 1:29-30). I am active in our church, especially in the children’s department. I enjoy making sourdough, baking goody treats, spending time in my garden, visiting local farmers markets, and volunteering in children’s church and children’s quizzing at our local church. I am passionate about helping moms and partners feel empowered and confident about their birth decisions all throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey! My journey to become a doula came from my own experiences of birth, growth, faith, and support. My first birth experience ended up being a cesarean birth. At age 35, I knew I wanted to try for a VBAC with my second. My provider said they supported it but they also wanted me to schedule a c-section just in case. At 39 weeks, I was not being supported by my birth provider and with the help of my doula, I switched providers and had a successful and fully supported natural VBAC in the hospital. My last 2 births were at home surrounded with love and support and calm. Through my personal experiences, I want to educate, support, and empower moms and families to believe in themselves and surrender to this amazing birth they desire.

There aren’t words to describe how grateful we are for Sara and her wisdom, encouragement, and steady confidence throughout my pregnancy, the birth of our baby boy, and even now postpartum. We are eternally grateful for her involvement in this crazy wonderful experience and cannot imagine it without her. What meant the most to me was Sara’s care in taking the time to get to know US (both my husband and I) and the birth experience we envisioned. It was very important to me that my husband was able to be my primary support person and that he felt fully equipped to do so - Sara absolutely made that happen, and my husband was able to be 100% present and involved in every moment. Sara really went above and beyond for us at every stage of pregnancy and the birthing process, somehow knowing what both my husband and I needed before we even did. By the time of our son’s birth, we felt so comfortable with Sara and were able to achieve the beautiful, unmedicated birth we prayed for - she instilled so much confidence in me and the body and baby God gave me. We will absolutely be using Sara as our doula for our next baby!! Would recommend her over and over again.
