I’m a work from home mom and I had my first baby in June of 2023! My husband and I have been married since 2022 and we’ve grown up in Kansas City our whole life. I’ve been passionate about birth since I saw my mother birth her last two children about 10 years ago and noticed how much women need advocates and support during pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum! Since then, I’ve been trained as a doula through GEM (Global Education of the Midwife) and have been pursuing a postpartum doula course as well. I hope to provide my clients with all the information necessary to empower them to make informed decisions about their birth plan/goals. If a client is open to it, I also love my Christian faith and try to implement that in areas of my work as well.

My background as an RN in both critical care and medical oncology largely involved walking alongside patients facing the end of life. These experiences sparked a deep passion in me to see that individuals are given a chance at the healthiest possible life - from the very start! This led me to complete Birth and Postpartum Doula Training through DONA International, as well as Lamaze Childbirth Educator training, so I could better support families from pre-conception all the way through the “fourth trimester” of postpartum. I believe these professional experiences, along with my personal journey as a mother of three—with births in both hospital and freestanding birth center settings—have uniquely equipped me to support families during the most vulnerable and powerful moments of becoming a parent. It's my honor to be a part of your unfolding birth journey! A Missouri native, my husband and I lived in several Midwestern cities before putting down roots on the family farm where he was raised. I am enamored by the earthiness of birth, whether it's a human's or a heifer's. I love slow mornings with my people, making nourishing foods and home goods with my hands, and reading about the juncture of bodies and souls under a giant quilt.

I decided to look it up and to my surprise I found it originated from Greece and means “to serve or mother the mother”. I instantly fell in love with that and realized that it was my calling. I hardly ever hold babies because they are in the safest place in the world, their mother’s arms. I always hold the mother though because just like her baby, she was just born too.

Hello, I'm LaCrisha, but most people call me Crisha. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and I’m proud to call it my hometown. I’m blessed with a wonderful, supportive husband, five amazing kids, and a few adorable grandchildren. My happiest moments are spent with my family—whether we’re going out to eat, enjoying a good movie together, or dancing the night away. For many years, I found myself in labor and delivery rooms, supporting family members, friends, and even friends of friends. Sometimes, people assumed I was there to translate, but most of the time, I was simply there to help and offer comfort. It became such a natural role for me that people began asking how long I’d been a nurse. Though I’m not a nurse, I realized how much I love helping others during such a monumental time in their lives. Hi! I’m Sara McAdoo and I am a certified birth doula and a prenatal yoga instructor in the Kansas City area and am passionate about families honoring God in their births. I am a wife, mother to 4 amazing young kids, homeschooler, avid baker, budding herbalist, gardener, bzzzy beekeeper, and backyard chicken keeper. I create herbal teas specifically for the pregnant and postpartum mama (Gen 1:29-30). I am active in our church, especially in the children’s department. I enjoy making sourdough, baking goody treats, spending time in my garden, visiting local farmers markets, and volunteering in children’s church and children’s quizzing at our local church. I am passionate about helping moms and partners feel empowered and confident about their birth decisions all throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey! My journey to become a doula came from my own experiences of birth, growth, faith, and support. My first birth experience ended up being a cesarean birth. At age 35, I knew I wanted to try for a VBAC with my second. My provider said they supported it but they also wanted me to schedule a c-section just in case. At 39 weeks, I was not being supported by my birth provider and with the help of my doula, I switched providers and had a successful and fully supported natural VBAC in the hospital. My last 2 births were at home surrounded with love and support and calm. Through my personal experiences, I want to educate, support, and empower moms and families to believe in themselves and surrender to this amazing birth they desire.
