My passion for birth work began long before I knew what a doula was. I’ve always been drawn to mothers and deeply curious about pregnancy, how it transforms the body, mind, and spirit. I grew up knowing my mother’s birth stories by heart, and even then I sensed that she deserved more compassionate care and stronger advocacy. In college, a course called Pregnancy and Power opened my eyes to the realities of the U.S. maternal healthcare system and the consequences of highly medicalized childbirth. Hearing doulas and midwives speak about their work and the purpose behind it sparked something deep in me. I had never felt more aligned with a calling. Following that pull, I completed my birth and postpartum doula certification through Bini Birth in Sherman Oaks. Learning from Kathrin Auger and Ana Paula Markel only affirmed that this is the work I am meant to do. As a doula, my role is to support you in connecting with your own innate strength, intuition, and wisdom so you can make informed choices for yourself and your baby. I have always been fascinated and humbled by the birthing process since working at a Maternity Hospital in Nepal many years ago, when I was a medical student in the UK.
