I have primarily been in the mental health field for the past 10 years as a Licensed Social Worker in various settings. In 2017, I became pregnant and began doing research. I found so much information, support, and power in doulas, midwives, and other birth workers. In 2020 I became a surrogate and it was an amazing experience. After two pregnancies, labors, and postpartum periods I had gained tons of information and met different people that led to me seeing the importance of birth workers and what having the right support can do for someone.
