Clarissa Alves

3 years of experience

I am Clarissa Alves, a certified doula and the heart behind Mooncradle Matrescence. My philosophy for birth work is rooted in bodily autonomy, informed consent, and deep respect for each family’s lived experience. As an Afro Indigenous mother, born in the Bronx and navigating the maternal healthcare system as a person of color, I understand how systems can fail families, silence intuition, and pathologize normal experiences. My work is grounded in decolonizing birth, honoring ancestral wisdom alongside evidence based care, and creating spaces where people feel seen, protected, and empowered to make choices that are right for them. I believe birth is not something to be controlled, but something to be supported, whether that looks like an unmedicated birth, a cesarean, a VBAC, or postpartum healing. My role is to hold space without judgment, provide honest education, and walk alongside families with compassion, reverence, and unwavering advocacy.

Having Clarissa as my doula was truly a once in a lifetime experience! Straight from the beginning, she was there for me throughout my entire pregnancy. Whatever questions I had, she helped me answer. She also helped me create a personalized birth plan step by step. When my water broke, I called her immediately and she was on her way. She showed up with things to decorate my hospital room, as well as pain management items, and a peanut & labor ball. Ambient lighting, oil diffuser, and words of affirmation on cards. These things really helped set the tone for my whole labor. As I progressed, I got good use out of all the pain relief items Clarissa brought. My personal favorite was the TENS machine and comb. Clarissa also made sure to advocate for my wants, needs, and rights as a patient. This truly meant a lot to me, as I feared a hospital birth due to hearing about mistreatment of new mothers who aren’t fully aware of their rights. As I started experiencing more intense pain, Clarissa jumped into action to help with pressure points and positioning my body in a way to ease pain. She helped me with breathing techniques and ways to move my hip on the birthing ball she brought along. All of these things made such a tremendous impact on how beautiful my whole experience was. Clarissa was right there squeezing my hand tight, holding my leg, and cheering me along so I knew I was able to do this. That was the strength I needed. Finally, my daughter was born! Clarissa made sure I got immediate skin-to-skin and a good deep latch to kick off my breastfeeding journey. We both laughed and cried when my daughter came out, it was truly one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had! Throughout my postpartum weeks, Clarissa made sure to check in with me daily as she did when I was pregnant to assure I was doing okay, and to answer any general questions I had about breastfeeding, postpartum care, and being a new mom in general! All her advice was so helpful. Choosing Clarissa as my doula was one of the best decisions I could have made. If you want an individualized experience with someone who is passionate about helping moms, Clarissa is the perfect person for that!

I decided to take the journey to become a Doula and will be continuing my education in all areas. I want to help change the way women think of their birthing experience and make Doula service and Breastfeeding services more obtainable for all women no matter your circumstances. My Amber, my Amber (yes !! I literally yelled her name during delivery 😂)… where do I even begin? Amber was simply AMAZINGGGG. From answering late-night messages to showing up for impromptu emergency visits, she was always present. She made me feel instantly comfortable we clicked right away because Amber is truly a whole vibe. What I loved most is how wholeheartedly involved she was. She advocated for me every step of the way and brought so much knowledge and passion into this journey. And listen… as a mom who has birthed FOUR babies, she still taught me things I never even knew. That says everything. In such a short time, Amber became family. We’re going on three months postpartum and I can still text her, vent, and just be real no judgment, just love and support. She made this experience unforgettable, and honestly, I just wish I had found her sooner. If you’re looking for a doula who will make you laugh, cry with you, turn the delivery room into a karaoke concert, hold you accountable (because she DOES NOT play 😌), while holding your hand and making you feel completely seen and validated she is the doula for you. TENS, TENS, TENS ACROSS THE BOARD 👏🏽✨

Iyonia was such a blessing as my doula. She was so informative, made us feel comfortable and confident about going into labor with a plan (and a plan b, c , d… and so on) to have the labor experience me and my husband wanted while also managing our expectations (very important)! I felt alone and lost during the birth of my first born. I felt like we were isolated and kind of “rushed” through the experience. But Iyonia made sure I, (and my support team) knew my RIGHTS as a patient, the birthing options available to us, and a plan to avoid the things that I was unhappy about with my first birth. You don’t know what you don’t know, so she made sure we knew what ask for. One experience I will always hold close to my heart was after my husband went to be with the baby after my c-section, she stayed with me, held my hand and continued to give me encouraging words at a time when emotions (and hormones) were about to get the best of me! I will always appreciate her for that. It made a huge difference.

Hello! My name is Janet. I have over 15+ years of experience as a Doula and Birth Educator. I am passionate about the work I do and honored to share your birth journey with you. I teach Birth Education Classes online and in your home if you are local to me., All classes include a postpartum follow up and postpartum check-ins as needed. I attend births as a Doula on a limited basis, generally taking one client per month. I have experience supporting clients that are giving birth at home, in the hospital or a birth center. I will assist you in creating a birth plan if you desire one. Together we will discuss what your plans are for your birth, whether you plan to go unmedicated, or desire pain medication. You will have support from an experienced Doula to make sure your questions are answered and you have the tools you need to feel confident and empowered. I facilitate an online VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) Support Group which helps those who are planning a VBAC or want to learn how to avoid a primary cesarean. I’m looking forward to meeting you and assisting you on your pregnancy journey!

Where to start? My husband and I met Janet earlier in our pregnancy when we decided we wanted to have a doula for our first birthing experience. As soon as I spoke with Janet, I knew it was going to be a great match. Janet not only took care of me, she also made sure my husband was taken care of. During our prenatal meetings, she asked us a lot of questions about what we wanted for our birth experience and took our wishes very seriously. She did not try to push anything onto us and made sure we were making educated decisions on subjects we weren’t as familiar with. Janet came with an abundance of resources and knowledge, as well as a lot of experience. Leading up to the day I went into labor, Janet and I spoke on a very regular basis via text and she was always available for any questions I had. During my labor, Janet helped to remind me the techniques we discussed in our prenatal meetings and to take things one contraction at a time. I am so thankful for her and could not recommend her doula services more.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about OS Care Service. From the very beginning, Olga made me feel supported, informed, and truly cared for. Her calm presence and deep knowledge helped ease my anxieties throughout my pregnancy and especially during labor. She provided not only physical comfort techniques but also emotional support that made such a difference in my birthing experience. Olga was attentive, patient, and always available when I had questions or needed reassurance. After the birth, her newborn care support was just as incredible—she helped me feel more confident as a new parent and made the transition so much smoother. If you are looking for someone who is compassionate, professional, and genuinely passionate about what she does, I highly recommend OS Care Service. Having Olga as my doula was one of the best decisions I made for myself and my baby.

I'm a lactation consultant located in Wilmington, Delaware and a single mother to two sons. Yes, I nursed them both. (Yes, for years.) I’m passionate about many things, one of the primary being mothers and people who birth babies. Helping them discover how amazing their bodies are through breastfeeding is deeply fulfilling, as is accompanying couples as they learn to parent together, growing closer and becoming stronger. While you are with me, you will experience total attention from a kind and non-judgmental listener. My goal is to help you feel confident in the choices you are making, whatever they are. We will find a way to keep you and your baby safe, happy, and healthy, however that looks for you. At The Golden Hour, you belong.

Rachel is a godsend!!! This is my second child, so I thought breastfeeding would be “easy”. But this breastfeeding journey has thrown every type of hurdle at us. Rachel has been our biggest supporter throughout every challenge - helping us navigate ties, bottle refusal, mastitis, low weight gain, low supply. I was able to build my supply up and establish a good breastfeeding rhythm that supports my baby and myself all through Rachel’s guidance. Her knowledge and research on breastfeeding guidelines is outstanding, yet her approach is far from clinical. Her demeanor is warm and inviting, and she always makes sure to check in on how we’re doing overall, not just from a feeding perspective. I truly do not know where I would be in my breastfeeding journey or postpartum without her, and I’m so grateful to have to opportunity to work with her.
