Mary Harder

My name is Mary Harder, and my passion is to serve families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I have a deep commitment to creating positive birth experiences by empowering families through education, informed decision making, advocacy, and compassionate care. My journey as a birth worker began in 2017 where I attended the National College of Midwifery in Davao City, The Philippines. Working in a small birth centre, I was privileged to attend 100+ births in 2.5 years. My time there fully cemented my passion in caring for women and families through the most transformative time in life. In 2023, I gave birth to my first daughter. Experiencing my own birth further made me realize the profound impact that compassionate care and advocacy has on a birth experience. These experiences have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the physical, emotional, and informational needs of expecting parents. My commitment is to provide unwavering support through the childbirth journey. I honor and respect each family’s unique journey, supporting their choices and providing evidence based information to help them make informed decisions. I care deeply to create a safe and nurturing environment where families feel empowered, supported, and heard. My services include: -childbirth education -prenatal support -birth doula services -postpartum & newborn education

I had the honour of having Mary as my doula for 2 of my pregnancies, one of which was twins! There were a lot of times of uncertainty because I was immediately classified as high risk but I was determined to have my twins naturally and with the least amount of interventions possible. I chose to go against the doctor’s advice for a c-section and follow my intuition to have a home birth even when met with adversity. She was extremely helpful because I needed someone I could vent to and she was supportive to the decisions I made while also informing me of all possible outcomes. She was extremely respectful to my birth plan and always gave great advice when I had questions. We ended up having a beautiful twin home birth and both babies are healthy and thriving. At times through my labour it was extremely difficult but she was there with me and encouraging me every step of the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better doula and I’m so grateful for her. She was there for me all throughout my pregnancy, birth and postpartum care and I couldn’t have done it without her. Thank you Mary!

Childcare and working with families has been my career for over thirteen years. Since 2011, I have had the privilege of supporting a wide range of families, caring for children from newborns to twelve years of age in both private homes and early years settings. Alongside my childcare career, I am currently completing my certifications as a birth and postpartum doula and child sleep consultant, and I am also studying to become a birth and lactation coach. These areas of study allow me to further expand my knowledge of pregnancy, birth, postpartum adjustment, infant development, breastfeeding and lactation, responsive sleep, and family support. I am passionate about supporting families through the many stages of parenthood, from the early newborn days through childhood. Along the way, I have intentionally sought opportunities that have broadened my experience, from private nanny positions and family support roles to early childhood education, leadership, and operating my own licensed childcare business. My approach is centered on providing calm, consistent, and emotionally responsive care. I believe children flourish when they feel genuinely seen, safe, and respected, and I strive to create environments where they can develop confidence, independence, social skills, curiosity, and resilience. My practice is informed by attachment theory and trauma informed principles, always recognizing that every child is unique and deserves care that reflects their individual needs and family values. My experience includes caring for infants, toddlers, school aged children, twins, siblings, and groups of up to 24 children, as well as supporting children with additional physical, developmental, emotional, and behavioural needs. I am equally comfortable managing the changing routines of a busy household as I am planning enriching activities, supporting school readiness, encouraging outdoor exploration, or providing a quiet, reassuring presence during more challenging moments. Alongside childcare, I take pride in contributing to the smooth running of a family home. I am experienced with meal preparation, wardrobe management, laundry, organization, appointment scheduling, school runs, errands, travel preparation, and maintaining tidy, welcoming spaces. I am confident accommodating vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, and allergy conscious diets. I hold a degree in Child Development and remain committed to continuing my professional development. I maintain my First Aid and CPR certification, have completed training in childcare administration, allergy awareness, and the BC Early Learning Framework (known as the FLIGHT curriculum in Alberta), and actively seek opportunities to continue learning throughout my career. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, swimming, reading, dancing, and arts and crafts. These are activities I enjoy sharing with children, whether that means spending time outdoors, discovering new books, or testing out new ways to be creative. Above all, I understand the importance of safety, trust, discretion, and reliability. I am a non smoker, fluent in both English and Spanish, have a reliable vehicle and a clean driving record, am comfortable travelling with families, experienced caring for pets, and at ease working within professionally managed households, including those with security systems and in-home cameras. My goal is to become a dependable person who supports both children and the household with warmth, professionalism, and care. Professional Overview • Over 13 years of professional childcare experience • Degree in Child Development • Birth and postpartum doula in training • Child sleep consultant in training • Birth and lactation coach in training • Trauma informed, attachment focused approach • Newborn, infant, toddler, and school-age experience • Experienced with twins, multiples, and children with additional support needs • Licensed childcare business owner and childcare leadership experience • Household management and family assistant support • Meal planning and cooking • Children’s wardrobe organization and laundry • Calendar coordination and appointment management • Reliable vehicle and confident driver • Confident swimmer • Comfortable travelling domestically and internationally • Fluent in English and Spanish • Current Childcare First Aid & CPR • FoodSafe trained and allergy aware • Pet friendly • Non-smoker • Committed to discretion, professionalism, and lifelong learning

Adele Pardy Callfas

I’m Adele (she/her), birth and postpartum doula, perinatal educator, Evidence Based Birth Instructor, owner of The Hive Doula Services, RMT, mom to an 18 year old, and born in Ontario but lived in Calgary for almost 21 years. You can find me obsessing over birth photos and placentas, sending birthing videos to my bestie, and dreaming about the birth room. Birth is such a beautiful and empowering moment that we all get to witness. Your birth team should support and honour you, as this is your birth, your body, your baby. As your doula I offer evidence based information and resources. I 100% believe in you and your ability to go through this journey and into parenthood. And will low key throw some throat punches if needed (I’m mostly joking). I truly feel that everyone deserves a doula ♥️. Let’s connect and see if we are a fit.

Looking back, Adele was a pivotal reason that my birth was such a good experience. She provided me and my husband with excellent support during our pre meetings. She was a calm and patient presence as I laboured both at home and at the hospital. She advocated for me to get the right anesthetist for an, originally unplanned, epidural, as I have scoliosis. She took gorgeous photos of the birth that I’ll cherish forever. She provided such tender care during our post-partum home visits. Adele is a joy—and even better she is an immensely knowledgeable joy. She is tranquil magic during the long journey of birth, and I’m so grateful that she helped me bring my baby girl into the world.

Lindsey was the emotional and physical support that I wish I would have had with my first baby! Birth is an out of this world experience, and Lindsey’s touch and voice brought me back into my body. She was so sweet and nurturing and I felt so well taken care of the whole time. I couldn’t have done it without her.

We had a wonderful experience with Angela and are grateful that she was a part of the birth of both of our babies. Angela provided lots of helpful resources during pregnancy to prepare for birth and to use during labour. I appreciated the books she loaned me, the use of her tens machine and I loved having the galaxy projector to create a calming atmosphere at both of my births. During our prenatal sessions she really listened to what we wanted and tailored her support to help us meet our goals. Throughout labour she was calm, reassuring and incredibly encouraging. We are so thankful for Angela and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable doula.

We are so incredibly grateful to have had Brittney as our doula. From the very beginning, she made us feel comfortable, supported, and confident going into birth. She was incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and reassuring, and always took the time to listen to us, answer our questions, and make sure we felt prepared. Brittney’s support during labour was truly invaluable. She had such a calming presence and knew exactly when to step in with guidance and encouragement or simply give us space. She helped us stay grounded and confident throughout the entire experience, and we always felt like we were in such capable and caring hands. Looking back, I genuinely believe that without Brittney’s support, the outcome of my birth could have been very different. She made such a meaningful difference in helping our birth feel peaceful, supported, and empowering. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to have by our side during such a special and life-changing moment. We wholeheartedly recommend Brittney and will always be so grateful she was part of our birth story. ❤️
