From the perspective of a mother, I have recognized the importance of the parent's mental and physical well-being. As a result, I have recently completed postpartum doula and lactation consultant training. While preparing for the international lactation examination, I continue to serve in each of these areas and feel passionate about supporting families transitioning from neonatal intensive care (NICU) to home. The exhaustion and emotional and physical trauma of parents at this stage is profound.
