Like most men, I probably had no idea what a doula did. After meeting with Pamela, I learned quite a bit and felt comfortable in having her be a part of our birth experience. I was able to be there for my wife emotionally and Pamela took care of everything else. She supported my wife in a way that I couldn't have. I have no idea how we could have done it without her. She was the true MVP that day. I can't thank her enough. Her experience as a nurse was super helpful. We will hire her again for our next pregnancy!

I am dedicated to championing maternal-fetal health and providing unwavering support to women as they embark on one of life's most incredible journeys. Working with Sharon was one of the most reassuring parts of our entire birth experience. From the very beginning, her communication style put us at ease. She paid close attention to the details of our birth plan and made sure our preferences were understood and respected throughout the process. One thing we especially appreciated was her flexibility around when to join us at the hospital. She checked in often, helped us navigate the early stages from afar, and arrived right when we entered active labor. From that moment on, her presence made a noticeable difference. She helped lower our stress, and we trusted her implicitly in how she advocated for us with the nursing staff. Her strong rapport with the team at Woodland Hills Kaiser Permanente made everything feel that much smoother. Sharon’s depth of experience came through in every interaction. She was calm when we needed calm, confident when we needed guidance, and always focused on making sure we felt supported. We’re incredibly grateful for her and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to any family looking for a doula who is both highly skilled and genuinely compassionate. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.

I used Wendy's services exclusively for my postpartum recovery. To begin, I want to share that I am a very private person. This is my second child (my first is three years old), and it has always been my husband and I caring for our children. I have never hired a babysitter because I am not comfortable inviting others into my home, and I tend to be very guarded. However, caring for two children on my own made my recovery slow and difficult, so I decided to try one session with Wendy to see if this type of support would be a good fit for me. Long story short, Wendy changed my life! She fully understood and respected my need for privacy and always made sure I felt comfortable. She was consistently punctual, professional, and attentive. She took the time to understand my home, my children, and my parenting style so she could proactively support me in genuinely helpful ways without ever overstepping my comfort zone. Most importantly, she helped create the space I needed to rest, heal, and recharge. She struck the perfect balance between giving me the privacy and quiet time I needed while also checking in and offering support whenever necessary. Most importantly, both my baby and my three-year-old absolutely ADORED Wendy. She was wonderful with children and made me feel completely comfortable entrusting them to her care. In fact, after her final session, my oldest was so sad to see her go that he begged her to come back and visit him. Wendy has a heart of gold. She is incredibly knowledgeable, a great listener, and a genuinely thoughtful and compassionate person. It was clear to me that this is more than just a job for her—it is her passion. I am beyond grateful that not only I, but also my children, had the opportunity to know Wendy. I highly recommend her as a postpartum doula during one of the most vulnerable and transformative periods in a woman's life. She was exactly the right person for my family, and I am confident she will be for yours as well.

I offer full-spectrum doula services and lactation support in the Santa Barbara area. I have a background as a registered nurse with NICU experience. I have completed DONA training as a birth and postpartum doula. I also am a certified breastfeeding specialist and have completed the lactation consultant program at UCSD. As I have progressed through my career, I have realized that I felt called to provide a more holistic approach to care. I strongly believe that new parents and their children do not receive enough support. The saying "it takes a village" exists for a reason. I know that most of us don't have a village, but I would be happy to be a part of yours.  Please visit my website to learn more about my services or send me an e-mail to set up a call.

Kayla was an absolute lifesaver during those early weeks postpartum. From the moment she came into our home, she went above and beyond to care for not only my newborn, but for me, my toddlers, and our entire household. She regularly checked in on me emotionally and made sure I was truly taking care of myself—reminding me to drink water, eat nourishing snacks, rest when I could, and giving me the support and reassurance I needed during such a vulnerable and overwhelming season. Her lactation support was also incredibly helpful and gave me confidence and guidance when I needed it most. What made Kayla so exceptional was that she understood that postpartum care is about the whole family. She helped with my newborn, entertained and cared for my toddlers, helped keep the house running smoothly, and even made sure our fridge was stocked with nourishing meals so I could focus on healing, bonding with my baby, and getting through those long days. She brought such a calming, comforting presence into our home. She anticipated needs before I even had to ask, offered encouragement without judgment, and made me feel genuinely cared for. Having someone there who could say, “Have you eaten? Have you had water? How are you feeling?” while also helping with the kids and household was invaluable. Kayla is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, dependable, and intuitive. She didn’t just support my baby—she supported me as a mother. And that made all the difference. I truly cannot recommend Kayla enough to any new or growing family. If you are considering postpartum doula or lactation support, hire her. You will be so grateful you did. 🤍

Lauren LaBarre

Lauren LaBarre

Hi, I’m Lauren — a birth worker devoted to walking alongside families through one of the most powerful transitions of their lives. My path into birth work was shaped by my own deeply transformative pregnancy, labor, and postpartum experience. I prepared thoroughly, trusted my body, and still encountered moments that were unexpected, intense, and humbling. That lived experience changed me — and it’s what informs how I show up for the families I serve today. I bring together evidence-based education, trauma-informed support, and embodied presence to help birthing people feel grounded, informed, and supported — whether they’re planning a medicated hospital birth, an unmedicated birth, or something in between. You don’t need to fit a “type” to work with me. My role isn’t to push an agenda, but to help you feel confident, prepared, and supported in your choices. Over the last year, my practice has deepened through advanced doula training, mentorship, and apprenticeship — including immersive work with Haize Hawke and master-level education focused on physiology, nervous system regulation, advocacy, and the emotional landscape of birth. I’m also the founder of Mycelial Womb, a collective rooted in the understanding that transformation happens best when it’s supported, witnessed, and integrated — much like mycelial networks beneath the forest floor. What tends to stand out to clients is that I’m steady under pressure, deeply attuned, and fully present. I support both the practical and the emotional — helping partners feel confident, navigating medical systems with clarity, and creating space for processing what arises before, during, and after birth. I’m equally comfortable explaining hospital procedures, advocating when needed, holding silence, or helping you find your footing when things feel intense or uncertain. Whether you’re someone who has always felt drawn to birth work — or someone who didn’t know they wanted this level of support until now — my intention is the same: to walk with you, not ahead of you, not over you, but with you, through this threshold. It would be an honor to support you through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — with care that is grounded, responsive, and deeply human.

Lauren was an absolute lifesaver throughout my wife and I's birthing experience. It was our first time and we really wanted to dive head first into educating ourselves about everything that had to do with giving birth and having a child. Lauren was so helpful with the entire process. She was so informed and educated about anything we brought up or asked questions about, she always had an answer or direction for us. She was so supportive throughout the entire process always being caring with every decision we had come to. She made our labor and delivery such a beautiful experience as well, she showed up at our residence at 2am ready for anything that may have came our way and helped my wife tremendously get to the hospital and ready to birth our baby! Lauren was such a strong powerhouse to have in our presence during it all and we would not have changed a thing, we are so thankful and grateful that we had Lauren by our side every step of the way and we will definitely be contacting Lauren when we have our 2nd!
