Hello! My name is Brenda. I am a Tennessee native, originally from Smithville. However, Livingston and Cookeville have now been my home for 17 years. I am the owner of Mom 2 Mom Doula Services. I am a wife to a wonderful husband, and a mother to 2 beautiful little girls. When I am not assisting women prenatally, in labor or in the initial postpartum period, I am spending time with my family, usually this includes hiking in the many wonderful state parks Tennessee has to offer. My interest in birth started to blossom at the age of 5, when my mother had her first home birth. In that atmosphere I felt at home with the Midwives and Doulas. That feeling only got stronger with my mother's next 2 home births. At age 21, I had my first daughter, unmedicated, in a hospital with an amazing Doula. Her willingness to want to help me however she could, more seriously pushed me towards my goal to become a Doula myself. So in 2018, I started working as a Doula, and then certified sometime later. At age 23, I had my second daughter, at home with the assistance of a home birth Midwife. It was a wonderful experience. Now, I am truly living out my dream, to be able to support women during such an important time in their life. I am so thankful every day for this wonderful career. My personal experiences with pregnancy, birth, and motherhood have shaped the way I support families. Motherhood has stretched me, softened me, and strengthened me in ways I never expected. I also openly share part of my story that has deeply shaped who I am today. I have a T-12 spinal cord injury. While this injury is part of my journey, it does not limit me from doing this work. While I do have a few small limitations, they are very minor, and I am always happy to have open conversations about them. More than anything, my injury has strengthened my resilience, compassion, and perspective on life. I truly believe God has used every part of my journey, both the beautiful and the difficult. It has molded me into the woman I am today. Through challenges, He has grown my faith, deepened my empathy, and given me a greater understanding of perseverance, grace, and the importance of support during vulnerable seasons of life. Those experiences are something I carry with me into every birth and postpartum space I enter. After moving to Tennessee, I felt deeply called to serve families within my community. My goal is to create a calm, supportive, and judgment-free space where parents feel confident, educated, and cared for throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
