Hi, my name is Becca. I am a mother of three Gigi of five. I have been a Doula since 2004 just did it for friends and family mainly and then my daughter started doing it two years ago. She has loved it and asked me to come join her the last year so we could help more mamas and families. Fun fact about me is I was a surrogate for twin little girls. Hi families! I'm Da'Vonna Henderson but I go by Vonna :) I'm a Certified Full-Spectrum Doula and a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist. I'm based in the Champaign-Urbana area but willing to travel up to an hour away to provide services. I dabbled in birth work for about 3 years before I decided to become officially certified in September of 2026. As a mommy of 4, I'm all too familiar with the labor and delivery process. I'm also familiar with the feeling of being undermined and dismissed. As your doula, my job would be to advocate when you feel unheard, give comfort when you feel stressed and to provide safety when you feel threatened. I'm here to give unwavering support to families during an extremely beautiful yet vulnerable time in their lives. I have a bachelor’s degree in Child Development, work as a family support specialist and home visitor, and am currently completing my postpartum doula certification. As a mother, I know how hard it can be to welcome a baby while feeling like people no longer see you. Everyone asks about the baby, but who asks whether you’ve eaten? Whether you’ve slept? Whether you need a shower, a good cry, or someone to listen without judgment? My own postpartum journey is why this work means so much to me. I remember needing support while figuring out motherhood and navigating emotions I didn’t always know how to explain. I want other mothers to have someone who notices them, too. Through daytime and overnight support, my goal is to offer practical help and a caring presence—preparing meals, helping with newborn care, supporting your feeding choices, and giving you opportunities to rest. I also connect families with community resources, including food and diaper assistance, feeding support, parent groups, and maternal mental health services. I bring over 25 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator, with a diverse background in teaching, mentoring, and supporting children in a variety of settings. My roles have included teacher, mentor, teacher’s aide, childcare provider, home daycare operator, and breastfeeding peer counselor, as well as responsibilities in cooking, cleaning, and maintaining safe, nurturing environments for children. I have experience working with children with learning disabilities and special needs, and have collaborated closely with speech pathologists, nutritionists, and administrators to address a wide range of developmental and educational needs. In addition, I have served as a culinary instructor in a high school setting. Throughout my career, I have developed exceptional problem-solving skills and a high level of patience, which continue to guide my work with children and families.
