Chrissy Dougan

Chrissy is the owner of Northwest PA Doulas, LLC, where she works as a Family Care Coordinator, Labor & Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, and Certified Childbirth Educator. As a childbirth and newborn expert, Chrissy provides around-the-clock support to growing families. She begins during pregnancy, continues into the labor and delivery room, and then joins families in their home during the postpartum period. Chrissy began her career volunteering as an accredited La Leche League Leader, where she has been actively encouraging breastfeeding families in Erie since 2014. She previously served the community as Secretary of the Lake Erie Breastfeeding Coalition where she joined other lactation professionals to shine a positive light on breastfeeding. She offers her enthusiasm and passion for "all things birth and baby" to help families achieve their goals with confidence. Valuing mental health advocacy, she has co-coordinated Erie's annual Climb Out of the Darkness 5k event since 2018. This event raises funds and awareness for Maternal Mental Illnesses including postpartum depression and anxiety. Proceeds from this event have provided postpartum doula services to several local families: compassionate support so parents can heal and bond with their babies without neglecting their own needs. Chrissy enjoys attending conferences and workshops year round to keep up-to-date with the most current, evidence-based information available. She resides in Harborcreek with her loving husband and their two sons where she enjoys hiking, biking, attending concerts, and singing.

When I first met with my doula team, I felt an instant connection with Colleen. I felt so supported throughout my pregnancy and Colleen was always responsive, remembering my appointments and asking how they went. It always felt like she enjoyed chatting and keeping up, and she was also pregnant so we could relate! The morning I went into labor, Colleen was the doula on call, and she came around 6 am when my contractions were picking up. She set out some beautiful affirmations for me as I rocked on the ball, and she also suggested some snack ideas so I could get some food in. She remembered my birth plan and that I wanted to get to the hospital with a little bit more time than my last, and calmly used her expertise to notice cues that my labor was progressing and suggested that we head in. She supported me through contractions at the hospital with back pressure, affirmations, and encouragement. It was so helpful to just know someone else was there who knew my plan and desires and supported it all along the way so my husband could focus on my needs in the moment. When it was time for the baby to come, Colleen offered to take photos and let my mom step in and be right up front in the action. I’ll treasure the footage she got forever. I also appreciate that she supported after the birth for a few hours and helped refill my water, take photos, etc. Her follow up after was a bright spot in the postpartum period. Two years later I’ve moved away, and we still check in here and there and keep up with each other. I would absolutely recommend working with Colleen and the entire Northwest PA Doulas team.

Anna came into my life a few weeks after my twins were born in 2021. I was a first time mom of preemie twins. One with a medical condition. She provided my family with safety, comfort and care. From folding all of our laundry to tending to the twins throughout the night so that I could get some rest. Bottle feeds, diaper changes, bedding changes, nightly snuggles. She did it all! She literally sat on the floor between their bassinets to help sleep train them. She did night shifts a few times a week for me. It gave me the support I needed to be able to get through those early days with twins. Anna, we will be forever grateful for your care and support.

Working with Roman during my pregnancy and birth experience was truly a gift. I had the most beautiful and empowering home water birth surrounded by love, peace, and support, and Roman played such an important role in helping create that space. Her presence was calming, intuitive, nurturing, and deeply grounding. I felt seen, safe, respected, and supported every step of the way. She held space for me in such a gentle yet powerful way and helped me stay connected to myself, my body, and the sacredness of the experience. As an artist and deeply creative person, I know this experience will stay with me forever and continue to inspire the way I create, heal, and hold space for others. Roman helped make that possible by helping me feel fully held, emotionally safe, and spiritually supported throughout one of the most transformative moments of my life. I am endlessly grateful for her presence and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking compassionate, aligned, and genuine doula support.

My approach is rooted in the belief that there is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to birth, feeding, or postpartum care. Ciera supported our family with postpartum doula services 5 days a week for just over 4 months following the birth of our daughter, and what a difference she made. She is professional, dependable and quickly became well integrated within the household (our older children were always excited to see her!). She has such a way with babies, our daughter very quickly developed into a sound overnight sleeper. We were also grateful that she worked with us to ensure we could be reimbursed through Carrot insurance. I would recommend Ciera to any expecting parent who is looking for calm guidance, professional support and loving care for their newborns.

Deb was incredibly supportive from day one. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, patient, and truly client-centered. She respects your wishes and supports you in doing things your way while always being available with guidance, reassurance, and advice when you need it. We are especially grateful for Deb’s support during what became an incredibly difficult and frightening labor experience, when we came close to losing our precious child. Having her by our side during such a vulnerable and overwhelming time meant more to us than words can express. Her compassion, encouragement, and unwavering support made a tremendous difference when we needed it most. Choosing Deb as our doula was one of the best decisions we made, and we will forever be thankful for the care, comfort, and guidance she provided to our family. If you are looking for a doula who genuinely cares, listens to your wishes, and stands by you through the unexpected, Deb is the person you want in your corner.

October 2026

My husband and I on 10/07/2026 welcomed our little boy into the world! Debra Tacconi was our birthing doula. She was down right amazing! She helped and couched us through the whole process. From my pregnancy to even after birth. I had an emergency c-section due to our little man being breached. Which made us nervous. With her there for the both of us helped us get through it. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthing doula! Thank you so much again, Deb!!

— Lindsay Laufer, review of Debra Tacconi

October 2026

I had such a positive and comforting experience during my consultation. From the very beginning, I felt genuinely heard, understood, and supported. The approach was incredibly calm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental, which immediately put me at ease and made me feel safe and comfortable opening up and sharing my experiences. What I appreciated most was the time and care taken to explore the root causes of my concerns rather than simply focusing on the surface issues. I loved how the consultation focused on understanding where things stem from and exploring the best ways to work through them and begin the healing process. It was a truly meaningful and reassuring experience. I left feeling heard, validated, and hopeful about my healing journey. I’m very grateful for such a thoughtful, gentle, and supportive approach.
