Chrissy Dougan

10 years of experience

Chrissy is the owner of Northwest PA Doulas, LLC, where she works as a Family Care Coordinator, Labor & Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, and Certified Childbirth Educator. As a childbirth and newborn expert, Chrissy provides around-the-clock support to growing families. She begins during pregnancy, continues into the labor and delivery room, and then joins families in their home during the postpartum period. Chrissy began her career volunteering as an accredited La Leche League Leader, where she has been actively encouraging breastfeeding families in Erie since 2014. She previously served the community as Secretary of the Lake Erie Breastfeeding Coalition where she joined other lactation professionals to shine a positive light on breastfeeding. She offers her enthusiasm and passion for "all things birth and baby" to help families achieve their goals with confidence. Valuing mental health advocacy, she has co-coordinated Erie's annual Climb Out of the Darkness 5k event since 2018. This event raises funds and awareness for Maternal Mental Illnesses including postpartum depression and anxiety. Proceeds from this event have provided postpartum doula services to several local families: compassionate support so parents can heal and bond with their babies without neglecting their own needs. Chrissy enjoys attending conferences and workshops year round to keep up-to-date with the most current, evidence-based information available. She resides in Harborcreek with her loving husband and their two sons where she enjoys hiking, biking, attending concerts, and singing.

When I first met with my doula team, I felt an instant connection with Colleen. I felt so supported throughout my pregnancy and Colleen was always responsive, remembering my appointments and asking how they went. It always felt like she enjoyed chatting and keeping up, and she was also pregnant so we could relate! The morning I went into labor, Colleen was the doula on call, and she came around 6 am when my contractions were picking up. She set out some beautiful affirmations for me as I rocked on the ball, and she also suggested some snack ideas so I could get some food in. She remembered my birth plan and that I wanted to get to the hospital with a little bit more time than my last, and calmly used her expertise to notice cues that my labor was progressing and suggested that we head in. She supported me through contractions at the hospital with back pressure, affirmations, and encouragement. It was so helpful to just know someone else was there who knew my plan and desires and supported it all along the way so my husband could focus on my needs in the moment. When it was time for the baby to come, Colleen offered to take photos and let my mom step in and be right up front in the action. I’ll treasure the footage she got forever. I also appreciate that she supported after the birth for a few hours and helped refill my water, take photos, etc. Her follow up after was a bright spot in the postpartum period. Two years later I’ve moved away, and we still check in here and there and keep up with each other. I would absolutely recommend working with Colleen and the entire Northwest PA Doulas team.

Chantell helped me tremendously after I gave birth to my son. I had a caesarean so I needed all the help I could get. She would help me with light cleaning, caring for him and attended appointments with us. She also provided me lots of emotional support as well, as I was a young first time mother and she was very patient and understanding with me. Overall she is very supportive and nurturing and I’m sure if you chose her, you would not be disappointed!

T. 7 reviews 5 months ago Nyasia is incredibly down to earth and as caring as she is kind. She made my husband and I feel safe in the months leading up to labor and in the throws of birth. I'm incredibly grateful to have met her and plan to seek her out for my future pregnancies. She is a wealth of knowledge and you'd think unlimited resources (she has the best goodies). Her extensive background shows up in ways you wouldn't think you need until she comforts you with something from her tool kit. Outside of making me feel safe in birth she also made me feel empowered. She reassured my husband and I that come what may in the birthing room I can conquer it (and did). She whispered in my ear the probable course my labor would take and of course was right but because of her I was prepared. I watched her stand at my feet and whisper prayers for an emergency situation down the hall, care for my husband, and comfort me, all in a 7 minute span. She's extremely diligent with your privacy and will never impugn your or anyone's dignity. Out of the thousands of stories she could tell she only tells ones about herself and her personal experiences. Now after she'd supported us with, through and in labor as my doula I had the added blessing of her being my lactation consultant. She walked me through the first weeks of nursing, comforted me when my baby went on a nursing strike pulled all kinds of breastfeeding tools out of her infamous tote bag, suggested positions for both me and baby and is still educating and walking with us at almost 10 months post partum. Having her as our doula further encouraged me to start my path in being a birth worker and wouldn't you know, it was Nyasia that provided me the links to free doula training. We love her immensely.

Christina was amazing! I was feeling so discouraged with my breastfeeding journey after having mastitis a few times and she was able to help me pinpoint what the causes might be. After meeting with her and following her suggestions i have been mastitis free and truly enjoying my breastfeeding journey. Christina is so knowledgeable, personable, and caring. She took her time with me and baby and made sure all my questions/concerns were addressed. I immediately felt comfortable with her and would use her services again! I highly recommend her!!

Hi, I’m Courtney, the owner of Simply Nurture Lactation + Support LLC. I’m a Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS) and Certified Educator of Infant Massage (CEIM), and I’m passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, postpartum, and every stage of their feeding journey. I work with families in the Warren, Ohio area and offer both in-home and virtual support, creating a calm, judgment-free space where you can feel heard, supported, and confident in your choices. My focus includes latch and positioning, milk supply, prenatal education, and helping parents build a strong, connected bond with their baby through infant massage. As a mom myself, I truly understand how overwhelming this season can feel at times. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are, offer guidance that feels doable, and support you in a way that aligns with your goals. When I’m not working with families, you can usually find me spending time with my own, camping, fishing, or in my garden—those simple moments are what keep me grounded and inspired in the work I do.

Courtney provided great support and quick advice when I was struggling 3 months postpartum. She was very kind and I appreciated her text support option for those one off questions that would pop into my head throughout the days. She gave me the encouragement to get more into a rhythm nursing and out of the scheduled pumping mindset and it's done wonders for me mentally and healing wise. I definitely recommend, plus she has reasonable self-pay prices!
