The cost of a midwife in Yuba City, CA can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance will cover the cost of a midwife in Yuba City, CA, depends on your specific health insurance plan and the type of care being provided. Many insurance plans, including Medi-Cal (California's Medicaid program), do cover midwifery services, especially if the midwife is licensed and the services are considered medically necessary. Coverage may also depend on whether the midwife is in-network or out-of-network with your insurance provider. To confirm, you should contact your insurance company directly and ask about coverage for midwifery services, including prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care. Additionally, confirm whether the midwife you choose accepts your insurance.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

Diane was my Doula, and she was simply fab!! I had a very difficult pregnancy with various things, extreme nausea, stressful situations, emotional ups and downs with hormones etc, and Diane was understanding and soothing and helped me to approach my baby’s birth in a calmer way, however it happened. She held my hand and supported me during a very painful external cephalic version, I was screaming but her being there helped so much! And the day after I was a wreck but she made sure to check in and was very caring. I lost my mum a few years ago and although Diane was in a doula role she was also like my family, like a mum, as soon as I met her, she was exactly what I needed and she just seemed to instinctively know what she needed to do to help. Thanks so much Diane! I hope we will always stay in touch! Lots of love, Carrie, Michael and Matt xxxxxx

Noelle has been truly a dream with how helpful, calm, and knowledgeable she is. She is truly incredible. She’s even stayed in touch post-partem, which has been so helpful to have that extra level of support as my daughter grows and new challenges arise. She has given me such valuable information about not only getting ready for the birth but also after the baby was born. She helped us develop our birth plan and stick to it. I had doctors who tried to push for me to get an induction and Noelle helped weed out what was truly a concern, and if induction would be necessary. It was wonderful to have someone so knowledgeable to help us during that stressful time. When I was in early labor she was there (over FaceTime) guiding me through until we knew it was time to go to the hospital, since I live in Paradise. During the birth she was so incredible. She helped me stay as calm as I could while providing me with helpful tips to stay strong. As a first time parent I had no idea what to expect during child-birth but Noelle helped me find my courage. I absolutely recommend her.

Hola y Buen Día || I am Sierra, a Chico Traditional Birth Guide || I support families through a biology based, nervous system aware approach to birth that honors the body’s innate design. My focus is natural birth. • My path into birth work was shaped in part by a background in environmental science, where I learned to observe and trust complex, self-regulating systems. Over time, that way of seeing deepened into a clear calling toward birth — a space where that same respect for the body’s intelligence and design feels deeply alive and meaningful. This calling led me to become a certified birth practitioner. My clinical midwifery training and more holistic experience with breath and bodywork, herbs and homeopathy, birth energetics and physiology, all blends together to support women that want autonomous, natural care while feeling witnessed, held and guiding when needed. Over the past eight years of attending births, in both home and hospital settings, I have come to trust the body’s capacity when it is supported with presence, patience, and the right conditions. My role as your birth guide is to offer attuned support, helping you stay connected to your body, your choices, and the unfolding experience beyond labor, but through pregnancy and postpartum. I believe the best way to minimize interventions and complications is through prevention as labor unfolds, and in pregnancy by preparing holistically with a focus on your well being, integrating practices and lifestyle shifts to support you in birth and motherhood. My approach is responsive rather than directive, creating space for your instincts and your body to lead. I work with a small number of families at a time, allowing for genuine relationship, continuity of care, and presence from pregnancy through the early phases of postpartum. Families who feel drawn to my work are often seeking a deeper understanding of how their body functions in birth, and a kind of support that respects both the physical and emotional landscape of the experience. Whether you are preparing for your first birth or integrating previous experiences, I meet you where you are with care, clarity, and respect.
